Woz

Couple of new videos posted last night of the latest code. It seems to be coming on relatively quickly now in comparison to 6 months ago. I assume all the background work is finished and it's purely coding in the ruleset, music and videos now.

Jack also revealed last week he's signed up 2 new programmers to work with Keith Johnson to speed up the work on WOZ, one of whom is Ted Estes who programmed TZ ☮️

Thanks for posting the nice videos, where is this machine located?

Yes saw that about getting Ted Estes on the team to help with finnising the code.
Things are looking up.

Jack tells me he expects machines to start shipping in 4 weeks, UK machines to arrive at the end of April :D

I think the sweepstake should be for when he will get WoZ with completed code, I reckon that will be Christmas (with minor polishes thereafter)

They have got 4 programmers working full time on it now. It won't take that long. They have a deadline for The Hobbit next year so need to move onto programming that at some point

Here's some footage I took at the NLP meet today. Thanks for the invite, Mark!

Confirmed by Jack that the pins will 100% start shipping in march. Software will receive ongoing updates. It is a fully working game game as opposed to some games released by other companies (his words not mine) but it will continue to be worked on. Keith Johnson is a full time employee and as the Hobbit isn't built yet to start doing the software he may as well continue tweaking Woz

Hmmmm. So Stern release a game without what people consider 100% completed code and follow it up with updates...and that is considered not fully working .....but yet JJ releases a game without 100% completed finished code, to be followed up with updates ...and thats considered fully working !?! Yeah whatever ......:rolleyez: Pretty dumb to try and spin that one.

This kind of petty sniping at each other does neither JJ or GS any favours.

Err, how is a game "fully working" if the software isn't 100%? Great news that the machine is finally going into proper production but bit of a low blow from Jack against Stern with the software comments. Personally I have no problem with software updates as realistically 1000+ machines being played on a regular basis will throw up errors that slipped through the net during play testing. Ever get the feeling that Jack's painted himself into a bit of a corner with his previous comments about unfinished code?

Anyway great news that there is now an end date in sight and I guess you might not have that CV for that long then?

I suppose the difference is the likes of SM and BDK were finished on the developers own time/unpaid. Stern make no promises that any machine will be updated, calling them a 'Christmas Present' etc. as if we should be glad our $6k machine works properly.

I'm sure Jack wanted it done and dusted prior to release but cest la vie. I'm just looking forward to getting the game

I'd be finding it a bit hard to understand why the code is not finished at the same time as the rest of the machine, if they had $6k of my money sat in their bank account. Why was the software not developed in parallel to the hardware (I'm expecting that they can write it and simulate the code without needing the hardware - they've had enough time to write simulation software from scratch if it does not already exist, but I expect it does anyway). Just seems bizarre to me.

Write it on what? It's a brand new board set. No machine has ever used it, ever used an LCD screen, has ever used this many RGB LEDs. They needed to wait until the table was functional to test software as they go. Pointless putting 6 months into code to find it doesn't work on day 1 you test it

The Spanish pin manufacturer used an LCD display last year or the year before for the basket ball game.called canasta
