Today I worked on......

Making a Stranger Things shooter rod.

D20 purple sparkle dice (Amazon)

Despite reading reports of shooter rod ends being tricky to remove a small amount of hammer & chisel persuasion worked perfectly.

Carefully drilled into dice (into #8 so #11 is at the front 😉), epoxy resin rod & washer in place. Really pleased with how it’s come out, just waiting on clear coat spray to finish it off 👍

I installed some Side Armour and Mirror Blades on my Stern Jurassic Park; I love the effect.
Side Armour from CabCustom is a great seller. (It was nice that they offer a customised look/option, and it's a lot better value than the Stern version. Great quality!
Mirror Blades from @Silverpaolo excellent quality and communication. I was initially worried about the installation, but fortunately, it was quite simple to install, and I believe the result is outstanding.

They look fabulous mate !

Fish tales belt broke.

Was about to order one when i remember i had a reel of green TPU laying about. So printed a new one instead :)

Tension of the TPU felt very close to the proper belt and so far working perfectly. Lets see how it holds up!.

Worked on more custom Wick stuff today, and last week added some more videos to Iron man.

Massive mods here with an install time of hours (actually tiny mods that took seconds to fit 😜)

Been busy restoring a Twilight Zone 100% sp trip down and a new playfield.
It’s really starting to come together.
I rumbled the power ball as it looked terrible and it came out like new, I don’t know if anyone has posted this before but I thought it was a good tip.
I’ve added some photos 😀
I’ve had one in the past and I’ve regretted letting it go (and my Creech!), so I’m going all out on this one and it will be going nowhere.

Most of the playfield is now back together, I’ve spent ALOT of time working on the mini playfield this weekend.
Complete playfield swap, new switches mod which looks a lot tidier (really fiddly), new street lamp, arrow for gum ball lane, playfield cliffys (they came with the machine when I brought it - I didn’t know they were a thing!) and the camera mod.
Really pleased with the finished item 😎

If you've ever considered a Pinsound card, but thought it only worked for licensed/film music, this is AFM with Pinsound and an alternative sound track (the original sound had gone on the blink).

View attachment IMG_0149.MOV

It's pretty 'Independence Day/B-Movie dramatic', especially during the saucer battles, and EXTREMELY loud (even though I turned the volume down).

Today/yesterday I worked on fitting a playfield protector to my WOZ.

Amazingly, after stripping it completely and refitting everything - it still worked!

Technical not all today but I did finish this cabinet set that a member of the forum sent me just before my holiday last week but finished it today just before I go back to work tomorrow 😭.

Masked up the sides as the original decals were really nice for their age, so was just in for the back of the cab and back box for a paint, new wooden sliders and general spruce up 👍🏻

Those look beautiful, how much does it cost for those stencils? Are the Stern and BWS ones available? Can they be reused or are they single use only? Finally is that a yellow spray can over a matt black surface?

They aren't stencils as such can't remember the name for them but used them back at school, you pour paint on them and squeegee it through the print which then applies the correct thing to the cab.

We did it on t-shirts I think.

It's silk screen printing.
@Fantazia2 - You are completely correct!

@Ant-H - do you have any pointers for squeegies at all please??

Thanks. Yeah they can be re-used over and over again as long as you clean the them properly.
I can’t remember how much they were as I got them from a guy on Pinside a few years ago now. They weren’t cheap I remember that, but the screens are spot on to the originals. At the time I remember he did system 11 screens as well.

As others have mentioned above it’s actually screen printing with ink, so you don’t use spray paint. Its a one shot deal, if you mess it up, your painting the back black again.
There should be a demonstration video on YouTube that I did a while back.

I’ve recently bought a Wpc set from pinside. They weren’t cheap but I felt it’s something not to scrimp on.
They’re from Merfs pins and he makes them to order, cost me $400 including shipping (£320ish)

Big thanks for @pinballmania for sorting out quick delivery of the clock lamp board. I had a Pindora variant of the board and one of the LED's decided to just die. Normally I'd of just got it repaired but I have a small get together next weekend so this game couldn't be out of action.

All fitted and worked a charm, this I believe is the Caspers variant.

Replacement snubbers and Cliffy for GnR - took way longer that it should but then I was a tad paranoid, after blowing up my Star Trek Pro during some basic maintenance. (Remembered to wear glasses this time 🤣)

Today I have been working on my Creech, trying to increase the number of spins in the whirlpool.

I adjusted the entry ramp so that it feeds the ball to the outside of the bowl. I have read that ideally I need an MRS (magnetic feed switch) so no friction whatsoever but that’s about £45 imported from US so instead I just moved the microswitch out and adjusted the actuator arm. This let me score 2-3 hits per whirlpool instead of my usual 1-2.

Then I levelled the whilrlpool itself and this made a HUGE difference. Left to right, but more importantly front to back is now almost flat (added risers to front and right side) so now I can reliably get 4-6 switch hits every time. I imagine that the MRS would increase this further if installed.

IMG_2383.gif

Anyway I’m crap at pinball so have never ever scored a SuperJackpot with 4x playfield multiplier, which is probably worth 500M minimum when Jackpot score is low at the start of a game. Later on. When it is higher - and it is *doubled* by scoring a SJ - it could be easily worth 1.5B for one hit to the Snackbar.

Putting Darren Ball’s @replicas hologram mod in it next as it only has a crappy blue hologram which just won’t do at all. That requires a few purchases and some research.

I think I enjoy fettling it and reading about mods and upgrades just as much as I do playing it. This is my third and I’ve already agreed a price for my fourth so this one is going soon and it makes no sense for me to put time and money into improving it ….. but it’s a labour of love.
