Stern Metallica Remake(?) Discussion

I don’t see the point - minor improvements for a price delta of between 2-4 grand, assuming Premium. Upgrading from a Pro would be a much bigger uplift.
Some changes I like, others I really don’t.
Life’s too short to chase that type of thing.
Even a straight swap would take some consideration. I know several other original owners with the same thoughts too. Probably in the minority, but still.
I have a roadcase edition and with this release I thought that the animations looked better even if I preferred dmd all along. However seeing the coffin multiball on DRI's video, I really think that the original dmd animations are so much better (imo, of course).
Playfield looks great but overall I prefer the original. Note: I haven't played the new one but I don't think it would change my mind.

I thought the original was great, owned a Premium for a while, but the new one (to me) does make the old one look a little dated now and a more cartoony than I'd previously noticed.
Just looked back at my for sale ad, struggled to get £6500 for a minty example in 2018.

I have a pro with light show mod, colour dmd, Donny Sparky, snake mod, upgraded speakers, shooter rod and speaker lights. For me it’s a big jump in money for essentially the same game. Don’t get me wrong Met is very good and this remaster is very good too. But I prefer the original artwork and I like Dirty Donny’s other works.
I've been studying all online footage and sounds in detail.
I could have pulled the trigger but realised I like the Lyman OG with nostalgic look and feel of the DMD.
I prefer the humour vs dark approach.
Before the remastered, there is no way I would have parted with my Premium.
I prefer my OG to the MetR Premium. Really do Love the new LE version but not enough to drop an additional 6.5k for pretty much something I already own and love.
It makes more sense for me to wait for TronR or GBr

Just noticed that my Bond’s attract mode is now showing clips of the new Metallica. Sneaky bit of advertising that!
Stern were doing that when the company was Data East - an adjustment named something like 'Next Game Promo' was provided to inhibit it. If an op only bought a pinball occasionally, they wouldn't want punters to be prompted about the 'next' game, especially if the machine(s) concerned were no longer new. One clanger with this caper was Lethal Weapon 3, which trailed Tales From The Crypt. The trouble was that Tales turned out not to be the next game at all, it didn't appear for some time time afterwards.
Has the trailer only appeared since a code update? There'd be less risk of the L/Weapon scenario with that method.
I’m pretty sure they push the ads out real time via Insider Connected, so I don’t think there’s a risk of the LW3 situation you outlined. I believe there is a setting to switch them off
You could option those off in de games and likewise in the sterns

So the machine doesn't actually hold the trailer at all, it's transmitted from the company server? That would avoid such gaffes.
They push trailers ad's all the time via insider connect, it's stored on the micro SD card, which is separate to the game card.
Yeah Metallica was announced after the last code update.

Correct. Metallica premiered on Thursday and insider connected machines were showing the ad/game play on Friday.

Laziest topper design ever?
Topper sucks cripes.
I like the topper, tells you your progress on 5 different things in the game, looks in keeping with the rest of the pin. Certainly not worth what they will be charging but I’ll get it if it’s cheap enough (which it won’t be 
)

they're well worth adding - makes a nice difference.
The guy who did make them is no longer selling them, hence why someone reached out to me to make them for him.

Re; the Remaster topper - I'm dissapointed. Doesn't look completely crap or anything, but for all the effort that love which's gone in the remake, you'd think that could've carried over to the topper.
I guess it's handy when playing in a tournament or something for other players to know your progress towards CII, but whoever is playing only has to look at the Met' logo behind Sparky now for quick reference.
What most interesting is that apparently having the topper unlocks the song "and justice for all..) and a special multiball (possibly unlocks early, rather than exclusive to the topper?; that'd p me right off otherwise)
Side rails look great and it appears the expression lights are built in to artblades? - great if that's the case.
Shooter rod is o.k i guess; nothing special.
Highly likely some day I'll have a remake and would defo want the code rails.
Saw of pinside that the LE's come with a sweet lithograph print/banner - there are a few different ones people have reciebed by the looks of it. Very nice
