Stern Ghostbusters

Had 2 games now where the ball gets stuck on this switch, when setting up the pin should the bubble have to be smack bang in the lines or is this just a guide as was thinking about lifting the back end up a bit more or will these switches loosen up a bit with time ?
It got stuck on the middle switch before.
Many Thanks

Well this is about GB @myPinballs.

Looks like 'orange peel'. Games really shouldn't be going out like that. Was this a test sample or one of the full production ones, do you know?

Is it? Seems more general to me

Anyway here's a pic that hopefully puts this to bed

The clear coat looks pretty damn nice to me. Every stern game I've had has been fine

Will aim to post some more detailed pics of the internals soon and I'll be moving the ghostbusters down stairs into the games room in a week or so, so will post some more pics of the disassembly etc

Looks to be a lot less wiring now with the spike system which is certainly a bonus for me. It did feel noticably lighter setting up to which was also a nice surprise

Thanks for the tips, will make some more adjustments
As a general rule most machines are setup with back adjusters fully out and front ones fully in. See how it plays then. Its not uncommon to have to adjust a few switches even on new machines.

All feet are screwed pretty much all the way in, back are only out 1/2 inch or so and the same on my other 2 pins to get the bubble between the lines, if I jack up the back the bubble is way off, do we not pay any attention to this bubble in the lines then ?
I wanted to set it right so when I play another machine someplace its not faster or slower than mine which is why I started with the bubble in the lines.

Many Thanks

Usually wherever you set games up you get to know roughly how high to have the backs screwed out. I've never found the bubble levels to be very accurate and normally have the bubble outside alittle for it to 'feel' right

Mine looks like this at the mo.

Checking using a smart phone app for 6.5 degs can help to begin with on the playfield surface, though I just do it by eye these days

Yes I had started off ordering a game of thrones, but was in 2 minds all along about this and that one. The walking dead order was solid. Eventually fate intervened and decided for me :) I'm glad it worked out this way. I'm super happy

I'd have gone exactly the same way, great theme, looks and sound. Been a little dissapointed with GoT tbh, shame as love the series. Bet the kids love GB?

i dont think anybody really gives a ****

They should when they're paying £5000 for one. Things like this matter, because if a problem existed learning more about it helps buyers to avoid bad batches - for example a batch of early WOZ where the paint breaks off in chunks near the pop bumpers in home use, while later ones with thousands of plays on have no damage at all.

Good to see the comparison pic mypinballs posted - thanks for that!

As for the person with a ball sticking in the ramp, the switch probably needs adjusting - unfortunately you may have to remove the ramp and/or some surrounding parts to get at it. If it's anything like nearly every ramp switch ever, there will be one screw which is a hole, and the other will be in a slot allowing adjustment. If you're lucky it might be reachable through the lane since it's the last one.

I think he's just not steep enough

Damn those pinsiders and their eagle eyes! Spelling error on one of the inserts!

'Negative Reinforcment'

Wish they hadn't said anything :)

Nice video Jim!

I'm amazed they let the spelling mistake slip into production, that's pretty bad form.

Not taking this too far off the GB topic but want to disabuse you about Stern clearcoat and certainly Mirco clearcoat:

1. The guy who posted that pic of GB which looks bad, said the ceiling was reflecting on the PF and made it look awful, that would lead me to believe the CC is fine

2. I know of multiple Mirco playfields where the clearcoat has shattered (like a thin sheet of ice) sometimes taking the art with it, sometimes not. One of these was from personal experience.

I wouldn't be so hard on Stern and so up on the other guys.

Happened before with Williams too .... didn't The Getaway have a spelling mistake on the playfield. And I have seen spelling mistakes on factory apron instruction cards also

My MMr has a spelling mistake on the factory apron card - "mutliball"

And the Edinburgh Trader insert is missing it's h on Pirates of the Caribbean...

New video for you all. I beat my Grand Champion score and manage to get onto a few of the later modes such as completing 'spook central' and starting 'gozer the gozerian'. Also getting to 'he slimed me', a few good super jackpots and mass hysteria multiball pinside.com_img_smilies_icon_smile.gif Video is 17 minutes long roughly for 1 game :D

What's the code like Jim, is it pretty much complete?

Code is outstanding for a pre release. This is version 0.9. I think the later games shipped to USA went out with v1.0, but i can't find that on sterns site yet. Of course i haven't managed to get near to the wizard mode stuff yet, so don't know whats there, but theres is a lot included already inc lots of great dmd graphics :)

I really like the music and DMD animations for Spook Central :D Jim, are their different wizard modes tied to capturing ghosts and completing modes?
