Hello everyone! South Coast Slam (amazing!) - loved seeing & playing all those amazing machines and meeting lots of enthusiasts, everyone was really friendly and it was great to talk to new people ...so have joined this forum hoping to make some friends here. I'm based in Kingston, Surrey.

Would love to buy a pinball machine but don't know where to start and don't want to end up with something that doesn't work or costs a load of money and hassle. Would really appreciate some advice and help on how to find a good table. Loved the ACDC tables and the Startrek, so I multiball and lots of flippers seem a winner to me :)

Thanks :)

Hi guys,

I’ve come over from UKVAC, have been collecting/restoring video arcade games since 1998 and live near Salisbury in Wiltshire. After attending the South Coast Slam on Saturday and getting to play so many awesome machines the time has come to make my first purchase after toying with the idea for far too long. At the moment Spiderman is top of the list and I think it’s likely more will follow! The other half is also keen which is obviously a great help (oh yeah!!)
Anyhow, it’s good to be here

Cheers, Al

Welcome to the mad house deleted.record :) They're a friendly bunch on here :)

With regards to a machine, you no doubt had a chance to play on a fair number of pins - thats the key thing... play lots and choose the one you like the most within your price bracket. Unfortunately all machines cost money to run, however in a home environment they aren't so bad :)

Hi fellas, Name's Jon and I'm from Kingston upon Thames. I had a great Saturday at the Slam and met some wonderful people from the forum when I was there who introduced me to this place. So here I am!;)

Haven't got time, money or space to own a table at the moment (Did own a modern fruit machine but that's gone now) but I'm not too far from the Pipeline if I fancy a game and some good Japanese food. Used to have a high score there on Scared Stiff (1st place but not grand champ) which I was mega pleased about for a fair bit, until the table got removed. Always a good selection down there though!

Right now my fave tables are Revenge from Mars, Theatre of Magic, Scared Stiff and Cue Ball Wizard...Though Circus Voltaire and Medieval Madness are growing on me. Also used to have the newer Batman table in the student bar which I was on constantly and that was a very reasonable 3 games for £1 or 7 for £2 with a 24million replay value. Money would always last!

Good evening everybody! Complete and utter noob here.

I've been a casual fan of pinball since the 2D days of Pinball Dreams on my mate's Amiga 500... Came along to the Slam with my wife and we both LOVED it!

Had no plans to, but we ended up picking up my ALL TIME FAVOURITEST TABLE IN THE WORLD "Starship Troopers" which has always been my dream to own since I used to play one of those in my uni days in Bournemouth in 1997-1999!

IanW told me about this website and I've been trawling the forums and it's really great to find other people who share my new obsession!

I've not played many tables in real life, so I wouldn't consider myself any more than an amateur at getting high scores but I've love to come play in a league/tournament or any events.

I split my time between Colchester and London so please let me know if I am able to come along.

Matti B

PS.

Had such a great time at the slam, it was really great to share some PB love with like-minded obsessives!

Hi matti I met you and your wife at the slam. Don't think I've ever heard anyone refer to sst as their all time fave before lol. I personally don't think it's such a bad machine. I'm sure you will have more than the one machine in a matter of months ;0)

Hi Rudi -- Yeah, I figure that it's not that popular. But it's the first real table I played and I played it quite a bit over 2 years so that's why it has a special place for me.

I just think that the music and the sound effects and the overall theme of the table, not only matched the theme and style of the movie, but just worked as a game -- and I guess, it reminds me of being 19 and being indestructible.

I've played ToM on the PS3 and i really love that -- that's a great table, but I'm probably too familiar with it to want to actually buy it... but you never know...

The only other table I've played a lot is Lord of The Rings... but I'd never want to own that since it lacks a certain 'magic'.

Hi Matti - so glad the Slam was such a great experience for you. Thanks for coming ! Troopers is an awesome game, one of the best Sega machines and certainly one of the best film tie ins out there.

Welcome to the world of pinball ownership.

Hi mate.
SST is a great machine and probably the most popular of the sega games. It'll keep you amused for ages and hey. One mans turd is another's treasure. Hell, I just bought WWFRR and I frickin love it.

I'm located in Ipswich mate, so not a million miles from Colchester. I normally have 5 machines up and running at home so if you fancy a game or 2 one evening, gimme a shout.

Welcome aboard anyway.

Gaz the only reason you like wwfrr is so you can parade around in tight yellow budgie smugglers pretending to be hulk hogan:rolleyes:

Remember Matti B….. once pinball bites, you will need to move to a larger flat!!!

Good Morning,

Just a quick into... my names Noel and I've had an interest in pinball since my early teens... Always had a dream to own an Addams Family.. and last year I picked up my first table which is an Addams.... Now I have the slightly daunting task of striping it down and cleaning it up. .. (nervous)...

I might be calling on your expertise at some point!

Oh and the South coast slam was great!

Noel. .

Welcome Noel :)

Stripdown and clean up should be fairly straight forward. Feel free to ask away - there are several of us with Addams in varying states of repair ;)

Cheers
Paul
