I am a bit scared of ebay...

I just found the DM listing

"I have listed this as used but it does have a few minor problems with it the game all lights up and fires up but does not seem to be any sound. the button that is used to put credits on is broken also the top flipper sticks. the launch button has stopped working but after a while the ball does launch itself.there is no sound but this could just be the volume button. it would be a good project for someone. this has been in storage it is a collection only or arrange your own courier but will need a days notice for collection."

How much would problems like those take to fix?

Oh I didn't view the ad. Hard to tell from that description with pinball being the way they are that could be a really easy cheap fix or something very expensive

this has been in storage

Beware this statement!!! Game has been in storage and now has a number of different issues, if it was stored with the batteries left in it then they could have leaked and caused all sorts of damage. If your serious about the game then don't be tempted to buy blind.....go and have a look at it and take someone with who knows what they're looking at. There's plenty of DM's out there, no need to buy a duffer :)

ebay is a risk at the best of times. Last machine I bought was described as fully working. Hhhm, no playfield lights, lots of switch issues and the main toy wasn't working. I'd hold off until one comes up on this forum unless your 100% about the machine.

With leagues you've got the SE league (Which changes venues each meet) and the London League (held in the Pipeline near Spittlefields). Think there are 3 SE league matches to go this year (before summer) and 5 more London league ones.

Hey everybody -- I'm really enjoying my new hobby and have been loving my new Starship Troopers Pinball table!

Are there any meet ups/Tournies in London or Essex coming soon? I need my pinball fix!
Hi ya Matti,

The next London Pinball League meet is on June 7th at the Pipeline. If you are feeling brave, my stag do is the night before and will begin and end there too (Addams will probably be my bed!!)

First things first: Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Secondly: DAMN, DAMN, DAMN! I am away on Holiday for that first week of June :( It would have been great to be there.

Gutted.

You're absolutely right. I am such a N00b sKuM

I wont be buying this blind!

I was kinda hoping i would find a gem but that is how people get conned!

Matti

Remember my advice to you, try to buy from someone you know!

BTW it didn't take you long to look for another! You better be looking for a larger flat :)

I was trying to reduce my numbers... and bought another today :tut:

You're right, mate - but I do keep scouring la interweb hoping for a bargain! What did you buy?

Hi All,

Thought I should introduce myself! I'm Sam from Kettering, I have been into Pinball for maybe 3 years, finding a T2 down on the seafront in Bexhill and falling in love with the game (now sadly turned off!). I have only just really made tracks into playing in competitions and making friends in the hobby. I am good friends with Kettering Keith and Chris Poynz for those of you that know them and have bought games from a few people on this forum (Andy Dredds, Matt Vince). Currently in my lineup is BSD and F-14 Tomcat folded away in my conservatory as the garage is being converted into a gamesroom! I am looking to add Swords of Fury and a T2 to my collection next so will be on the hunt for more games.

My past collection is only 3 games! Judge Dredd, Paragon and BK2K have come and gone. I am greatly enjoying the hobby and hope to keep in it for many years to come. This is the first hobby I have been part of where everyone is incredibly friendly, and I figured at 22 I am at a good age to spend a bit of disposable income on something worthwhile!

All the best, hope to maybe run into some of you at shows (I attend the UK Pinball Party at Daventry as it is close, and made the trek down to the Slam this year as well). Keep flipping!

Would anybody have any idea where i might be able to play a Nightmare on Elm Street pin?

Yes indeed. Try the 10 pin bowling hall in Sint Niklaas, Belgium.

I live between Essex / London.

Don't let that stop you!

We found it when we went to the Belguim open last October. It'll be interesting to see if it's still there when we go back this October! :D

Oh and if you're really lucky someone might take one to the UKPP in August...

/sigh. have either you or John ever played one? it's honestly not that bad of a game. they can't all be TAF or AFM, it's a cheapo DMD.

i traded it (plus 100) for WWF, so i would guess that means i sold it for about 750, which is the same as i paid for it. it has an epic theme, looks awesome with that freaky gruesome head, sounds great, ok so it doesn't have great ramps but it has toys (rake between flippers, glove flipper, moving furnace door, and Freddy spits the ball out) multiball aplenty, there's plenty of games out there that are way worse i reckon.

the guy i traded it with lives near Glasgow and i think he said he was looking for a swap now, so if you want it you can get it.

Here's hoping!

Until a few days ago, I had no idea that there was ever an Elm Street Pin -- Freddy Krueger is a childhood hero! (sort of!) !

I've watched a few videos on youtube and the table looks okay, but the sound is really off-putting, like REALLY off putting... despite that, I'm curious to know what the table plays like.

It's wierd, I am so new to this scene that everywhere I look I keep seeing more and more tables that I'd never even heard of and I just want to play them all!!

My plan is to purchase a second table and then swap it every couple of months so I get to play and enjoy as many as possible - and I don't really want to spend more than £750 for my next pin...

OK, I'm kind of dragging the focus of this thread OT. Matti, you've got the right idea. Play as many machines as possible:) but I bet your idea of 1 keeper and 1 changer doesn't work out. Put two of them together and the buggers start to breed. My wife still has fond memories of when we had 2 and a useable spare room...........

Any pin is better than none. Theme can be really important but doesn't always trump playability. Whitewater is a GREAT game but for me the theme and artwork are almost incidental. I like horror movies and Freddie is a great character. However, the table doesn't do it for me. Played it a fair bit at the bowling alley in Belgium as it was the only machine we found for the first few hours. The furnace was OK but the whole game had that "clunky" Gottlieb feel (I also didn't get on with Stargate for this reason although others rave over it).

As Dan says it's a sub grand pin - I just like giving him grief. I also seem to remember that he had a plastic turd on the keys to his machine which didn't help his cause;)

You've got a great range of machines to discover. Don't ignore a machine just becuase other people don't get it. ID4 for me is a real fun machine, others hate it. X Files wasn't the worst I've ever played. Roadshow simply sucks goat dick but other people seem to like it.......The leagues are a good way to play a lot of different titles but even then it's not the same as having the machine at home as you never really get to hear the call outs etc. If you want to PM me then you would be more than welcome to come round and play a few games here if you are down in London and I'm sure there's others on the site who would make the same offer

Hello! Missed this thread. Have trawled through and read most on here now , should've known about this place sooner seeing as it's uk based.

Don't have a real game (no money, no room). I've been relying on the shows at Daventry for the last 2-3 years for my fix, thanks to all who ship their games there to be played.

I make a lot of tables on pc , original designs & recreations (currently using Unit3D Pinball). Long term goal now is to convert my own from this, either run from a PI or P-roc.

Cheers!
