New members - say hello right here : )

Hi Paul - Welcome !

Mark Squires lives in Swavesey and has a nice selection of games, and of course organises the Swavesey Pinball event every year. So not quite a pinball wasteland. I used to live in Cambridge in the early 90s and as with everywhere else there were quite a few pins in the city pubs. None now tho :(

Hi Grizz,

Thanks. I made it to one of the Swavesey weekends a couple of years back, but the weekend always clashes, just like Daventry. It's like magic how they pick weekends I can't make :) Mind you I find the noise of a whole room of pinballs and people overbearing (some medical issue I have with my hearing), so I can't stay long when I do manage!

I'm surprised they found room in any Cambridge pubs for pinball, they barely let people sit down in them these days!

Where are you located Bigbloke?

I'm near Cambridge Gaz.

I can find the noise gets to me after a while, hence I often carry ear plugs so I can still enjoy myself. At NLP I will be wearing ear defenders but that will be because I will be blowing the whistle a lot as Geoff the Ref for the NBA Fastbreak challenge. ;)

Hi Grizz,

I'm surprised they found room in any Cambridge pubs for pinball, they barely let people sit down in them these days!

From memory - Back around 1993/4 The Bath ...near the Corn Exchange...had a Tommy, The Anchor had a Jurassic Park, a bar the name of which escapes me just off the market square had a White Water. There was a Fish Tales in the Laser Quest place near the bus station. One of the ones up near the Grafton centre had a Star Trek Next Gen.

I visited Cambridge for first time in nearly 20 years recently, trawled the old haunts and was gutted to find many of the pubs had turned into identikit gastro-hellholes :( Shame. And some had gone too .....RIP The Boat Race.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't visit the big town much anymore, the rape for parking has really nailed it for me now. Stupid car hating councils! I'd like to see them move a pinball machine using a bicycle :)

Hi!

Name: Ian, Location: South Devon

Just bought 1st pin, Xenon, owned just over the week and already hooked with playing and tinkering (placed 2 orders with Pinball Heaven, bulbs, tools, rubbers, etc, and must say great service)

Currently converting a room to be a games room, have a MAME, air hockey and football table to go in it..... was considering a pool table, but now will need the space for atleast another pinball table. Kids love it and currently it has wife approval!

15 months later (7 pins) .......... just lost wife approval when I suggested I might host a South West league meet :)

Hello everyone.

I was told about this place at Play Expo today and met a few really cool people.

So here I am. Obviously, I bloody love pinball. I'm from Birmingham area and it'd be really cool if I could get my hands on a project table. A good one, of course but I don't mind putting in the hours on it to get it all fixed up. It's been an ambition of mine for a while so when I get gather enough pennies together I'll ask around.

I also fancy joining the Midlands Pinball League so I'll have a gander over there soon.

Cheers, Hux.

Hello there all!

My name is Jonathan (or Jono to my friends usually) and I was pointed to this place on Saturday after a very fun 3 way game on Cirqus Voltaire with some of the guys at Northern Lights (whos names all escape me presently I'm sorry!). I'm pretty sure they know who I am, with me knowing a lot more about Cirqus Voltaire than I really should... =p

Anyway, I don 't currently own any pins of my own, but I'll be sure thats one of the first things to change when I get a place to myself! Currently residing in Bristol myself, and really want to get into the pinball playing scene more!

Hopefully see you all around!

Hi we are new members and new to Pinballinfo. We are also new Pinballers as we'll so just getting the bug!! Still working out how to use this site though. We have 2 machines at the moment our first was a No Fear which we really enjoy and are still trying to get the best out of. We then bought a King Kool just for the nostalgia. We are looking to buy another machine which we are making room for by selling our very new Bar Billiards table. Also may look to sell the King Kool for a newer machine. After checking out machines at the Manchester Expo event at the weekend we are interested in Star Trek Next Generation, Getaway and possibly a Judge Dread. We really liked the new AC-DC but budget not quite that big yet!! Does anyone know of any of these machines for sale and can anyone tell us how to view machines for sale on this site.
Attention all new members ....and not so new lurkers

Why not take a minute to introduce yrself to the fellow pinheads on the forum - you know the usual stuff, what pins do you own/enjoy playing/want to own, where in the country are you etc ....

And welcome, good to have you in the Pinballinfo ranks soldiers !

I'm Richard. My girlfriend (Angie) and I just recently attended the NLP show at the Play Expo in Manchester. We're both long term pinheads, though she's a bit more dedicated and a better player than I am. We're from Sheffield.

Looking forward to finally joining in with a part of the online pinball community.

Welcome to the forum Richard and Angie :) Do you own any games?
We bought our first at the recent show. It hasn't arrived yet, but soon we shall be setting up a Scared Stiff in what seems to be excellent condition. Counting the minutes...

You definitely will enjoy it. I enjoyed that exact table for the last few months thanks to @Mooseman :) Nice to meet you at the show.

Alright mate, think I was talking to you at the show (was packing up my Black Rose as you left). Glad to see you joined, yes get yourself over to the next Midland meet and/or to mine on the 10th Nov if you fancy a trek up North (Preston).

Welcome also to other new members prompted by the NLP/Play Expo show. :)

Hi to @huxleypig (Think I might have met you at the breakdown...I might even have been helping JMP with his BR - Its a bit of a blur :) ), @Soluzar , @Anne and John Garner, @JonoD and any other new members Who were at the NLP show. Welcome to the hobby from another newish addict

I can heartily recommend letting folks know what area you're in and see if theres anyone with a few machines in the area. Next thing you know you'll be in and out of the houses of several new friends having played a dozen or so machines in their collections over a few relaxed evenings. Thats how it was with me anyway. I think they're regretting it now though as I have a short list of people to help me get my new collection set up in my house so I can have them round in return ;).

To Anne & John - Getaway and ST:TNG seem to be very common machines for sale recently with one or two a month at least coming up on eBay and on here alone in the last couple of months. JD is fairly common as well, although it took me a couple of months to get hold of a decent one (which you might even have played at the Expo). The "For Sale/ Wanted/ Trade" section on here is in frequent use and I'm sure most people will provide additional pics and/or invite you round to look at anything they have for sale. (Edit: There's actually a Getaway up for sale now that's worth a look)

Finally, I also heartily recommend asking the folks on here as many questions as you like, either in general or about specific machines you're looking to buy. I've been saved some potentially expensive mistakes by asking advice from people on here (and the ukpinball yahoo group) and gotten a lot of advice on general pin upkeep into the bargain.

All the best,

Rog

That sounds great, I really hope so. We're pretty near to the center of Sheffield, and would love to meet any local Pinheads. Until now the Dove and Rainbow has been our best chance of finding a game.

Good to meet you too! Everyone we met seemed so nice. It was great.

Hi everyone, I'm Steven (or SM) and I'm another one who found this forum from NLP this year.

I'm known for being good at arcade games, especially shmups and light-gun games, but I've never been so good at pinball. However at the weekend I finally got it and started enjoying the machines much more!

Am interested in getting a Fish Tales as it is my favourite, however I'm not in a real rush to get one as I don't have any space for a machine yet.
