New members - say hello right here : )

Only ever played one once. Didn't really do it for me but I've always got a weakness for the unloved ones.....

I feel mean looking at the amount I spend on pins and then moaning to my wife how much a hair cut costs (£40+ apparently, not that I'd really know as last time I paid it was £3.50)
All i can really remember about that machine was the spinning metal disc smack in the the middle of the playfield, and the annoying middle flipper/post to make it a "skill" game. think you get off lightly my missus always spends more than that on hairdo's, and I think I paid about the same as you too... but i've been bald since my twenties!, so the money I save on haircuts can go to fund my new Pin!

TZ was overpriced at 3K, you should be able to pick one up for 2000-2500 depending on condition. Are you serious that you have never played a Stern, or did you mean something else? That means you never played a Spiderman, a Lord of the Rings? Never played Family Guy or ACDC?

welcome to the forum matey. i may see you in Manchester next month
forgot to say, thanks for the price info, I am learning a lot about buying in the couple of days I've been reading this forum.
And cheers for the welcome, might see you at the show, I've got my ticket for the Sunday.

Anyone here have any idea...if I bought a Premium AC/DC (or Jersey Jack's WOZ) and decided to sell it on if I got bored of it, would I be able to sell it on here? I think I'd be looking for about 80% of the purchase price (and it would be looked after as long as the kids keep their mucky paws off).

I'd be interested. I'd just need to find a job within walking distance so I could sell my car.

I've been collecting pinball and arcade machines / pcbs since 2003 and currently have :

Fish Tales

Revenge From Mars
Addams Family
Twilight Zone
Arabian Nights

3 Arcade cabs and pcbs

I'm in Manchester and anyone who is almost normal and doesn't stink is more than welcome to pop over and have a few games.

Cheers

Welcome aboard David :) I sometimes venture over the other side and agree that the new format isn't very good at all (being polite ;)) and you don't get all the "bitching" here.

Cheers
Steve

I have heard lots of bad stuff about the new format - I tend to get the mails tho unless i'm searching for something, however here at least you can ignore some of the bitching... ;)

It's Pants especially if your trying to have a read whilst your having a dump in trap 3 at work.
The support for apple iOS means that when you are scrolling through stuff it's randomly opening other stuff.

Yahoo is a dead duck now as far as I'm concerned, thanks for the welcome guys.

Fish Tales will always be my favourite game so many memories of when I was a young man about town in Newcastle in 93. Bought my 1st FT in 2003 and was so excited I forced it into my company Laguna Estate.

It was a bit like putting your knackers in a marmite jar, easy to get it, but next to impossible to get out.

That game was so wrecked, I didn't even know you could buy pinball spares, so made some post rubbers out of electrical cable with the 3 cores removed.

I then started thinking about the other games I played in Newcastle back in the day and bought TAF then TZ then WH20.

Most of the games came via Ian Bailey near Sheffield and the RFM was just a lucky punt outside of eBay.

TOTAN looks and sounds amazing, but probably think the one I play the most is still FT then WH20.

Had a JD and 2 Gottlieb Super Marios just sold the last Mario a few months back, also had DE Swars and Episode 1 but they went ages ago.

It's amazing that I still get the same buzz on these games I've had for 10 years, guess its testimony to how well they were designed.

Woohoo, I'm almost normal!!!

Alas I'm a little far away from Manchester but I sometimes get over that way for training. Ill be sure to drop you a line if I'm in the area. :)

No worries come over whenever all pins are setup and in great condition and I'm proper rubbish so you might be able to get on the high scores, Adrian who had only played TOTAN once at last years show came over after having a wash and got 2nd highest score, I obviously reset the scores when he left.

Welcome aboard. Nice lineup - got 4 of them myself ......man of good taste ;)

It's funny what non pinheads are drawn to, Mario isnt the best game out there but the theme and artwork are ace on that game, if I had room I would have kept my last one.

People would be playing that all night as it was so easy, TZ would get 1 game maybe 2 and they would walk away saying its too hard or I don't know what to do.

Same as the arcade games, you could put a real good shooter on mame and you come back 20 minutes later and Barry's back in Tenerife in 1985 playing Pheonix.

FIsh Tales was my first game too! Played it yesterday for the 1st time in many years, but that banjo music....it may have to go....I kept a list of high scores inside the cab with dates, last score logged was 2003! I can't let it go before getting on that list again.

Think that hillbilly soundtrack is one of the reasons its still my favourite game, I never realised why the music at the end of the last ball sometimes was different and had a bit added on until recently.

It's when you don't hit the captive ball at all until the last ball then the bonus is held over to the next ball.

I've noticed that if you let the outro music fade away to almost nothing the start a new game the music plays at that real low level until the start of the next ball. The sounds are all at the correct volume just not the main music.

Does yours do that ? Both of the FTs I've had exhibit this weird bug.

I guess the music does have a certain charm, but it's so repetitive I hear it in my dreams.

I haven't noticed that sound issue, I'll have to try it.

I've only just got the sound going, major problems after being in storage for 9 years, all speakers needed replacing and sound board's components and tracking were fried.

Phil at PH recommended sending the board to Coin Op Cauldron in the US, so I did...7 weeks waiting list but his prices are reasonable, pity about the £16 customs charge on return of the board.

Hi & welcome.

I'd like to join the "FT owners club" but can't get hold of a decent one yet. Although I've gotta say if offered a JD or FT it'd be JD first :)

Hi David, I'm the guy who brought your SW last year. You'll be pleased to know it's had a complete overhaul and is playing lovely! I keep toying with the idea of selling it and trying something new but always seem to get cold feet....If anyone on here fancies swopping for a few months I'd be up for that as I've only room for one machine at a time, keeps the missus happy!

Cheers, John

Hi mate, I'm glad you've still got it, did you ever do anything with the Tie Interceptor or did your lads just enjoy playing with the exploding wings.

You can't sell your 1st pin, you will regret it.

No the boys still play with it! I think you're right, I know I'll always regret it if I did, a temp swap seems the way forward.

Welcome to the madhouse.
Most of us came here from the yahoo group for a bit of peace and quite away from the pricing and bitchin.
Good to have another Lancashire pinhead on board.
