New members - say hello right here : )

Welcome aboard Roger. You'll find a great bunch of peeps and a wealth of knowledge on here.

You'll also realise you dodged a bullet getting outbid on that eBay machine.
Buy with confidence off the forum and save a pound or thousand ;-)

Happy hunting

Normally I'd agree, but as it was near me I had a chance to go have a look & play and it was a nice machine from a private seller (nowhere in the vicinity of, say, Blackpool ;) ).

Hopefully something will turn up on here though as it'd be nice to get a machine from a collector rather than a dealer

Welcome to the ranks Roger !

Good machines get offered up for sale here regularly, many of us are maxed out on pin space and to feed the addiction games have to be moved on to make space for others:rolleyes:..and usually at much more sensible/realistic prices than ebay.

Welcome from another newbie.

Damn man, where you getting all these sweet machines from? Not managed to get hold of anything myself yet :)

Rog

I got lucky with the Addams as it had just gone up for sale and at a sweet price too so it was a no brainer. I'd like a Drac or Scared Stiff next.

2 weeks, 3 machine and still looking for another one. Think it took me at least 2 years to get to number 4, by that time the brakes really had come off.....

I'm going for deep pockets, lots of space and no wife saying "no!":)

Be warned, 4 will also not seem enough. There's another 13 grand + on your wish list!

Did you swipe the TAF from ebay? Was tempted by his POTC but resisted.

Your right on all three :0

Yes twas the Addams with the color DMD that went up Friday evening :)

Hi all,
I'm not new to pinball, I used to rent them out as an operator, sold a few off in the last 10 years, but kept back my two faves, FT and TAF. I don't rent them out any more, in fact most of the pubs I rented to are gone now! I just want to collect and play now, and I have room for one more.
Going to my first show next month, (northern lights), can't wait, I want to play some of the newer machines, help me make up my mind about what to buy.
I found this site doing a bit of research about buying off ebay, I almost bought a TZ for 3k, I even paid a deposit, but changed my mind, I just couldn't part with my savings for a 20 yr old import with faded sides! A costly lesson for me on impulse buying...

Ooh that's a lot of money, think it was a good idea to hold on and see what you can get down the line.

Welcome to the herd mark. Hope you enjoy it here.

Northern Lights is a fine show, you'll probably find your want list expanding very rapidly after you visit :)

Thanks, I must confess I've never played a Stern, it should be an eye-opener. I can reclaim the VAT on a new purchase and get a NIB Stern for 3750, but I gotta play em first!

TZ was overpriced at 3K, you should be able to pick one up for 2000-2500 depending on condition. Are you serious that you have never played a Stern, or did you mean something else? That means you never played a Spiderman, a Lord of the Rings? Never played Family Guy or ACDC?

welcome to the forum matey. i may see you in Manchester next month

yes Dan, I know it seems unlikely but I stopped renting machines out in 2002, and my TAF went into storage, my FT I played for a while and then put into storage. So we only ever had Williams, Bally, Data East and Sega. I lost interest in pinball for years and don't get out much due to raising a family, so I wasn't even aware of all the new Sterns. I was amazed they knocked out so many, I thought pinball was dead! Clearly I was wrong, and from all the youtube footage I've watched some of them look awesome. And yes Rog I do quite fancy an AC/DC, but the Pro looks pretty inferior to the premium, and the premium is steep! I can't wait to play it at the show, but I don't think I should take my chequebook, it would be too dangerous, must have a cold shower first, before making any more rash decisions.

Anyone here have any idea...if I bought a Premium AC/DC (or Jersey Jack's WOZ) and decided to sell it on if I got bored of it, would I be able to sell it on here? I think I'd be looking for about 80% of the purchase price (and it would be looked after as long as the kids keep their mucky paws off).

Think you'd have your arm bitten off if you offered a pretty much new AC/DC for 80%. I'm pretty sure I'd be in the running for it;)

You've missed out on some really good machine (AC/DC, LOTR) some pretty good ones (Iron Man etc) and some not so good ones (sorry Monopoly owners)

With AC/DC Premium is really the way to go. The Pro looks dreadful and the lack of under playfield limits the appeal.

Ok better make that 90% lol! I'd probably be divorced by my wife for spending that much on a toy, (but not as much as she would spend on a car funnily enough, but I guess a pin doesn't get from A to B!).
by the way i once had a Lost in Space, didn't feel any desire to keep that one I'm afraid...

Only ever played one once. Didn't really do it for me but I've always got a weakness for the unloved ones.....

I feel mean looking at the amount I spend on pins and then moaning to my wife how much a hair cut costs (£40+ apparently, not that I'd really know as last time I paid it was £3.50)
