New members - say hello right here : )

Thank you for the warm welcome,

my faulty pin is a swords of fury,

and i have 3 sega new net citys, 2 atomiswaves, a new astro city, and a neo geo electrocoin arcade cabs working, with 3 i am working on in the unit.

Hi folks, the names Matt, I had three pins which I sold to make some spending money for a holiday that never came off (long story). The same year my wife was very ill and the money raised was spent keeping us afloat during that three month period.
Now I only own 50% of a street fighter and can get my hands on a Mr & Mrs Pacman (once I've made the space for it) so I'm pretty Pin Poor.
The MPU is buggered on pacman, but I'm going to try to fix it LOL
I'm currently waiting on some bulbs for another mates Bally Space Invaders, which I will then be listing on e-bay, (another long story).
Been into the pins for a while now but only just found this forum and all the great info.
It sounds although the sort of tables I've owned and play are pretty crap compared to the serious pieces of kit you chaps own and swap about, sounds like I'm a rather crap player too E.g it took me years to become the master on street fighter!!

Welcome Matt, whereabouts in the country are you? If you're anywhere near Poole or West London then you could start by attending the local league meetings there this Sunday?

I hope your missus is better now, health and family always come first and we'd all sell all our toys in a similar position.

What you gonna try to buy next after sorting out some cash and space for it?

I'm in Somerset, Burnham on sea Area. There's not much of a pinball scene around here, which has always surprised me due to the arcades. It's pretty much myself and my mate, but we're just grumpy old men now so it works out ok.
My mate just likes to play (and win) where as I like to tinker, but i just can't grasp electronics despite trying and trying so problems are a real headache unless they're mechanical. All part of the fun though and I'm glad I'm involved.

Welcome :)

Haven't they still got all those old EM's in Brean leisure park?? I was sure not more than 2 years ago they were there....

Hi all,

Just saying hello as I've just signed up. My name is Andy and I live near Chester-le-Street in County Durham.

Got a Judge Dredd machine (no topper, but ain't got the ceiling height for it anyway, and no Deadworld mod (it's never bothered me tbh)) and I've had the machine over 12 years. Had the bridge rectifier and C5 problems, and also opto problems where the machine thought the ball had drained but hadn't, but somehow managed to sort these myself (thanks to the Marvin pages mainly).

The machine has sat idle for about 2 years until last weekend when I decided I'd spark it up again. DMD decided it wouldn't play ball. Had single vertical lines at first, then I reseated the ribbon cable and it got the graphics on but a bit distorted, then ended up having dual vertical lines on it. Was going to order a new ribbon cable but then reseated other ribbons and bingo, works spot on now. No surprise after sitting for a while.

But, I'm waffling here, so I'll just end by saying I'd forgotten how annoying and frustrating Dredd can be, but most importantly, how much I love playing it.

Thanks,

Andy.

Hi All,

I'm Paul from Northampton and I join owning a whole one pin!

It's a 1973 Williams Gulfstream, a real old school EM. Renovating it as I type. Well just before typing obviously :o)

Hi all, my name is Graham. I am a wrinkly (retired 2 years ago). Have always been interested in nostalgia, have had a Silverball Mania pinball machine since 1992, I watch TV on a 4:3 flatscreen built into a 1955 Decca TV that has a record player built into it.

Feel a bit of a cheat joining forum as I am now looking to sell my Silverball Mania, will shortly be moving into a 1 bed retirement flat and do not have the room for it. I would be interested in any suggestions as to how much it is worth or where to sell. In pretty good original (unrestored) condition, needs a bit of work to investigate flipper fault but I have replaced main CPU etc over last few years.

Any comments welcome

Welcome to the forum Graham, whereabouts in the country are you? Probably worth starting a new thread re: your Silverball Mania and putting some pics up so people can give you an honest assessment of its value.

I am in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. Can't seem to upload pics, all I get is request for url but no way to link to pic from laptop. Am I being thick?

We've all made the same mistake, you have to choose 'add file' or something like that from below your post instead of the pic icon above it. Then click full size instead of thumbnail.

Hi, I'm John from from Yelverton near Plymouth, Devon.

I'm a retired software engineer - so well wrinkly - but when I was young pinball was the only game in town.

I love the game and finally bought a Williams Tri Zone which was brilliant until it broke beyond my ability to repair.

I now have an EM Bally Hi-Deal and a Data East Time Machine, both of which meet my idea of a pin:- short, fast (3-ball) games aiming for best score rather than lots of missions, modes and toys. It's an age thing I suppose.

I have also bought a hopelessly beaten-up Bally The Wiggler as a project I'm working on with my youngest son. The Wiggler rates low on the IPDB but as an EM with 3-ball multi-ball and Zipper-Flippers we can't wait to play it. If we ever achieve a decent restoration I'd love to post some pics showing off our brilliance!

Picking up Pin No.2 tomorrow. Its a Gottlieb Aquarius :)

Hi, yes it was that one. Luckily it's near where I live so I manage to get a look at it before bidding. Very nice it is too!

Hi all!

New member here. *waves* My name is Johnny. I've played on many pinball machines when I was a kid at various arcades and fun fairs. I can't remember what they were as was always more of a video games player (sorry). But I do remember enjoying them. When I was 18 ish I was taken to a pub for the first time as an adult with my best friend and his uncle so he could watch over us. We all took turns playing the Adams Family pinball machine that they had and I have fond memories of that game. That was the first pinball machine that really caught my attention. I can still see it running/playing now in my head, though haven't seen that machine in years.

When I lived in London, I used to go to the Trocadero at lunchtimes to play on the machines. My friend Mike and I would always play on the two different star wars pinball machines. He always played the one which had a display projected? onto the table where you had to shoot the tie fighters by firing the ball through their projected image (i think, sorry, it was a while ago and my memory blurs the two games). The pinball I played on was a very good game based on the proper star wars movies 4,5,6. I /think/ his was episode 1, but memory is hazy.

Have listened to a few pinball podcasts and that's caused me to check out youtube videos about pinball machines. My renewed interest in pinball has picked up since getting a few arcade machines. Some of my friends on jamma+ forum pointed me to this forum to learn more about pinball and meet other pinball fans.

I'll be quiet for a while as I lurk, read and learn, as I don't want to ask silly questions etc. Nice to meet you and thanks for letting me join.

Cheers,

Johnny

Hello. Sounds liked "Star Wars Episode 1", the last pinball manufactured by Williams (WMS including Bally and Midway) as they closed their pinball devision when finished. It used video monitor to project an image and the technology was dubbed PB2K. Your fav machine might have Star Wars Trilogy made by Sega.
Look at the pictures on the pinball bible called the Internet Pinball Database: http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl

The Addams Family got me in to the pinball addiction I have now, and I thank it every day. Do you see yourself buying a machine? This is a good place to get a machine at a good price as eBay has gone mad.

Hi Calimori, Hope you are doing well today.

Yes, I will pickup a table or two in the future for sure. I know what you mean about ebay, it's pretty much the same for video games too - crazy prices.

Thank you for the url for the database. I've had a look around and yes, the sega one is the game I played on - pretty sure now. That was a fantastic game, loved playing on it. I had tried searching t'net before but think I kept finding the Data East one instead which didn't look the same as the pinball I played so was confused - thanks!

I'll be a quiet user for a while as I read, learn and get up to speed with how you peeps do things. Very nice to have joined and thanks for the welcome. Am hoping to make it to Pinball Palour in Ramsgate next time work lets me out to play - so I can check out and play on some tables. I live by the seaside, which always used to have pinball tables in the sea-front arcades but barely any are around anymore :(

Cheers,

Johnny
