JJP GNR Pinball

Why is everyone jumping on me like I have shat on someones desk?

I thought I asked some pretty decent questions. What are the issues, is everyone having them and how many are affected? As I see a lot of the same pictures, as I haven't really been that focused on pinball for a few weeks with other stuff going on, so I came back on the forum asking some questions. I don't understand how admitting there is a problem and saying yes, but asking how widespread it is denying a problem at all. I was asking about the run and frequency to ascertain if it is a problem that affects everything, which would mean that is an issue for all games and could be fixed, and asking if it was first run to see if it had been solved at a later stage. Again, pretty decent questions to ask.

Irrespective of being "in the trade", it'd be nice for people to remember that actually I am a pinball person too, and sometimes I can just ask something from a curiosity point of view. Jesus.
Signing off your posts like that, I think we have a new nickname for you "Jesus"

No @Tilt_Birmingham I was asking a question, wasn't trying to wind anyone up, stop trying to stir the cup. I was asking some questions.

I think your post was badly worded and seemed loaded defensively for JJP and that's why. My personal experience is that Mirco is a door handle and JJP from the get go over promised and underdelivered (see Woz light boards), he could have easily gone the way of some of the pinball failures but got bailed out, otherwise a lot of people would have lost a lot more money (collectively) than the other failed pin manufacturers.

I didn't read it as badly written or overly defensive but trying to sort out what was emotional opinion and what fact. I found that very helpful as someone who sees this as a pin he would buy if a few things work out well.
I also appreciate that JJP have lost a lot of credit over their handling and I totally understand why folks like Neil have had enough with them and want to be able to vent.
James is having to defend his position because he also sells things which I am not sure is entirely fair, there are all sorts on here and we all have biases but each person should be able to voice their view still and I think James has done well to articulate his interest.

Why the attack on James? Really uncalled for.
TBH I kinda felt it was a little harsh!
I try avoiding confrontation at the best of times and try not to take sides even when **** falls heavy on individuals. However I kinda read James post as being positive not negative in any way.

It was something I was actually wondering about as with all negativity you only hear from the people who have problems not the ones who are happy and have none so knowing actual true figures would be good to know.

I thought it only kicked off on a Saturday night anyways 😝

We're trying to make it more inclusive, otherwise Saturdays will get offended :excited

So to summarise my understanding of the current playfield landscape:
  • JJP: trainwreck
  • Stern: dimple like crazy. Also have chips and pooling. And bowing. But people have just learned to live with it...
  • Spooky: TNA had issues, but they seem to have sorted them since?
  • AP: ???
  • Haggis: put acrylic over the playfield to avoid the issue.
  • CGC: magically never have issues (I think?)
  • Pinball brothers (and Heighway?): dimples, clearcoat OK so far (law of small numbers...)
Is that a fair summary? Did I miss any manufacturer(s) ?

@James I gave you the numbers that you asked for. No offence intended, but can we stop talking about this **** show now please.
Unless we hear JJP have fixed the newer runs, or JJP are actually going to look after their customers there is no point discussing it anymore.
In fact what we should do is wait until the new batch lands, give them a couple of hundred plays. Get everyone to inspect their machines properly and then see what the numbers are on this batch.

Is it just me, or are things getting a little bit tense....

When Katie and I bought our first house, it came with a bath that had jets in it (sounds amazing right! It wasn't, it was a shonkily put together three bed townhouse, in a place called Watton. We got it as a repossesion and it was (and still is, as we rent it out) a nightmare).

I decided to have a bath one evening, Katie had gone to Tesco to do the weekly shopping. I had wallowed like a whale for some time in the bath, and came down from the second floor to the kitchen, making myself a cup of tea and could hear this tap, tap, tap, tap.

I walked into the lounge and there was, I kid you not, this bulge, like two maybe three rugby balls under the surface of the skin of paint, with a tiny amount of water tapping through.

Being me, I decided to give it a bit of a poke and was COVERED in this brown, stinky water (we had just had new carpets too).

Turns out, the bathtub and the jets were leaking, the water had ****ed through like crazy, it was only by chance there was no wiring that side of the ceiling. Absolutely mental.

@James your just trying to wind people up

If you spend 10k on a machine and it pools and chips within weeks of purchasing how its that right?

@Neil McRae has a right to be mad about that

He probably buys more NIB then anyone else on here so its his opinion as the buyer you should be listening to as your now in 'the trade' 😂
Totally agree
but when you spend 10k on an avengers le and one of the main mechs in the game has failed in 100% of the games in the uk at nearly a year and still no fix or parts so don’t just give jjp a kicking

Personally I'd rather look for a fix based on that video I posted. If the post has movement in the pf then even cranked hard so it feels unmovable the repeated hits from the ball will cause the badly adhered paint&clearcoat to pull as can be seen on all the complaints. If they haven't fixed this then I personally would like to try before ****ing my pf up, and it looks like several members (far cleverer than me) are looking at ways to do exactly that. Pooling our knowledge to fix an impending issue is better than crossing our fingers and hoping it doesn't happen to us imho.

What we should do is lose the sad attitude of got to have it now let them roll out and then see if they have any issues then make a decision god they are making 5000 of them so it’s not like you ain’t going to get one
I can’t believe the got to have it now or first attitude of pinball people I mean flying your mando over to be the first person to have it wtf who really gives a ****

I'll be honest it was quite breathtaking. The flow was great and even the rebounds felt controlled, like everything was able to be saved.

sorry dood but I couldn't disagree more - hitting anything off the right flipper from the right side of the machine on the fly is brick central. From the left flipper there is tons of flow to the ramps and right orbit.

Neil.

Well it's horses for courses. What you describe I immediately think of GOT and GB but this was nothing like those bìtches

I found this far more forgiving.

Not saying easy though.

Stern's recent playfields I don't see any chipping or pooling; in all of my Stern games I have no playfield chipping from Stern. I do have a warped playfield which Stern are replacing.
Spooky - sent me a populated playfield to replace my TNA one. Bader is their manufacturer now
AP were I believe using the same guys as Spooky Bader and Mirco but now have killed using mirco.
Haggis: shipped 4 games - who cares :D
CGC: No issues on mine, they had a colour issue on some AFM's.
PB using Buthamburg
Heighway for Alien used Mirco and there are some Aliens with cracked clear and chipping.

and no mention of the plunge!

I think he needed to read the thread and then his questions would have been answered. To me it came across as someone trying to support JJP's shocking position.

My sample size is only 2, but both IMDN and BK3 have chips of artwork fly off, and pooling under the orbit ball guide.

Some of it is only noticeable once you take the game apart, so your games may be affected but unnoticed - I suspect this is the case for the majority of games tbh...

Oh god how could i forget. No idea how they did that, must be eddie sensors around each insert?

To describe this, think TZ skillshot but no switches and lit inserts. Brilliant.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA sorry mate all your credibility just drained. :D :D :D

The plunge is ****ing terrible. I hate TZ but I'd have that plunge over GNR!

I took my IMDN apart to check it and its fine (back in the TNA days). Black Knight had one area of lift but not sure that was caused by this issue specifically as I dropped something on it (it might be) - Kevlar loaned me his iron and I've since sorted it.

Anyway back to GnR

First off... Don't listen to @Neil McRae it has amazing flow from both flippers and shoots amazing... I spent about half an hour levelling it and afterwards it was shooting better then yesterday @strobey

Had about 20 plays on it now and I'm absolutely blown away with it... I honestly don't think words will ever do it justice....

Any one who has an LE or CE incoming be prepared to be happy.... Be prepared to lose balls because your ore stuck by the visuals, light and sound show

Code wise its jam packed and its going to keep you going for a good while and I highly doubt there are many players on this forum able to complete it (I don't think I could, never completed a JJP which makes them great value for money)

I think my preference on JJP games has changed...

1. GnR & Pirates (too early to make a decision)
2. Dialed In
3. Wonka
4. Hobbit
5. WOZ
