The eBay Auctions / Facebook / Gumtree / Shpock 2024 thread

Oh really. He told me someone gifted it to him. That’s his way of avoiding the kwestion. “How much did you pay for it”. Ffs. Life’s too short for fufluckinfidiots.
He'll be making a percentage on the sale.

Fufluckinfidiots - didn't they do Scooby Snacks?

The wardrobe

Didn't like playing it when new or since but it looks awesome

Had 7 at once out of an operators shed complete with various nests circa 1991

Had more of these then any game apart from de star wars . Very successful commercially in the UK . Must have sold over 1000 here

Design is a stretched silverball mania

£1500 ok IF it was working 100%

I don’t suppose you know who the actual owner is? Looks to be an arcade operator possibly? I can see a Star Wars Trilogy pin in the background of the listing with lots of arcade machines.

It's now free to sell on ebay for private sellers!

Should be interesting, watch for a flood of pins at inflated prices, nothing new there then :D

You still have to pay certain fees like reserve price, listing upgrades etc..

But instead of a reserve you could always set it high and take offers or dutch auction it, but discussing with a friend a few times he says hes noticed that sometimes an auction with bidding can result in a higher sale price than a fixed price auction.

Interesting. Feeling the pinch of FB Market place/Vinted etc etc i wonder....??

There'll be a mass influx of business sellers all creating "private" accounts now... 🤦‍♂️
(along with Ebay sending data to HMRC behind their backs to catch them out)!!

There are already a large number of pinball machines listed on ebay at unrealistic prices that never sell.

I don't understand the point to be honest.

If you check the sold history, none of them ever sell, they are just listed for all of eternity.

Is everyone just waiting for some rich footballer to come along and buy their Bad Cats for £7000? 🤣

I wish we could go back to a time period when people actually listed their pins for sale on ebay as £1 auctions. That is the only way to get a true market value. the machine will actually sell, and move onto someone that wants to buy it, instead of being stuck forsale till the end of the universe 🤷‍♂️

Looking at the ones that do actually get listed at £1 auctions, they tend to end at what I think is a reasonable price (and I am often the winner 🤣)

Is it now free to sell on eBay? Or is there some clause somewhere that still costs you for pinballs?

Yes

“Free selling for UK-based private sellers
It's now free for UK-based private sellers to sell on eBay (excluding motors: Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles listings). You won't pay final value fees or regulatory operating fees when your items sell.

Fees will apply if you list more than 300 items in a month, if you add optional upgrades to your listing, or if you deliver to an overseas address. See our FAQs for additional details”

Wow, that's come out of the blue. Aren't they going to lose a massive source of revenue?

I always listed during the 80% off final value weekends so wasn't paying a massive amount in fees, but it all adds up.

Maybe time to stick my Lebowski on there.

I would have thought they'd make even more money given the influx of new listings.

EBay must be dying a death these days. I haven't sold anything on there for years due to listing fees + final values fees + PayPal scams. Its business model is a decade out of date. I suspect the damage is done now!

Used eBay since 2001, and to be honest never really had any bad experiences as such.

The best times were buying import games from Japan, having to pop down to the local post office pick and up US dollars and sent them in the post in an envelope to Japan, at times a couple hundred dollars. Such a treat when the game/s or hardware arrived. Non oh this PayPal and credit card stuff back then, loved it when I think back to it tbh, treats arriving every week :)

Not used eBay much the last couple oh years but its generally always been the best place to pick up some import games still, sure silly priced listings but occasionally trusted sellers pop up asking the correct going rate for stuff. Now it's flooded with video game resellers asking insane money for items, see it all the time and even at those video game expos, even still see far cheaper items on eBay.

I have had a Quick Look at some sellers video game stuff and some private sellers have lowered pricing with this new free non fee deal. Hoping it now gets better for both buyers and seller tbh.

For EBay payments they hold the funds for a couple of days before it gets put into your account dont they, they'll get interest from that, and someone said they are now not automatically sending it out to your account so your balance will sit in there gathering them interest. They are also adding an option to pay for items using your balance which might encourage people to leave their seller funds in their ebay account giving them more interest and saving on card fees also.

I think this is the way it was a few years back. It was good selling crap and keeping funds in an account, top it up with junk sales and buy something you always wanted. But yeah they'll make a fortune holding funds.

I sold a load of stuff recently, haven’t done that for years. Had my account since 2000, anyway had the money early hours next day paid to me every time which was pretty good I thought.
Also new to me was my posty picking up the parcels, never been so easy. Shame I didn’t wait as would have saved a few quid😏
