Pinball Brothers - Queen

I suppose it is fitting that it looks like it has borrowed some inspiration from Flash Gordon; upper playfield is similar, the lane on the right is reminiscent of the Woodbeast lane

In the minority here, but I think the PF art doesn't look too bad (very 70s album cover in style? - maybe not Queen album covers though) ; prefer it to say LZ* (which IMHO looks terrible) or lazy photoshopped work.
Shot layout looks interesting too; red special mini pf is pretty cool looking (though I'm not a fan of min-playfields in general). Hopefully Brian May has recorded a few licks for use, a bit like Slash did for JJP G'N'R**
*Re: LZ, whilst I think the art is some of the worst I've seen, having played it at Flipout I will echo other's comments that it's fun to play (if not exactly inspiring) and so here's hoping that Queen is fun.

**still waiting for the opportunity to play a JJP G'n'R, although will admit the dodgy Chinese Democracy rehashes they are putting on an EP have dampened my enthusiasm towards the band lately (not sure why they are bothering rushing out turds like oldSkool and Obsurd with Slash just spending 5 minutes putting a quick guitar track over reheated tracks; their gigs will sell out anyway, but I digress)

I need to get some work done lol....
I checked Wiki and Queen 1985 Wembley is regarded by many in the industry as the best live performance of all time.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Queen_live_performances

So this was performed in the Queen day session at Live Aid:

Bohemian Rhapsody ---- on the pin
Radio Ga Ga ---- on the pin
Hammer To Fall ----- on the pin
We Will Rock You --- on the pin
We Are The Champions ---- on the pin
Crazy Little Thing Called Love ---- alas not included

Being live on the pin, one would hope its from the Live Aid performances.

@Pick Holder - from the photos, is the main cab Wembley?
I think I already said it was live tracks from the Wembley gig (NOT Live Aid)

The person who I know (who has been to see it) says video is from Live at Monreal and just looks like its on a loop currently.

Think it was a get it finished to show proto.

Will not be live aid footage as the whole performance was 20 mins tops.

A lot of this table is likely to change (I would hope).

I read the comments here about this artwork is (insert any negative word here) and I have to laugh. I'll bet very few, if anyone, here has actually had to produce or instigate pinball art and get it approved by the licence owners. It can be a complete nightmare.

What you see is NOT necessarily what the manufacturer wanted to have - often it's what they were TOLD they were going to use!

I laugh when I see things like "they should have done (insert anything different from what was done here) rather than XX"

For Gods sake, give people a break! Do you really think a manufacturer is going to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars and usually more than a years work for the entire team and intentionally produce rubbish?

why do people tell others off on here for expressing their feelings? Give people a break?
Exactly, this is a forum with a bunch of people who enjoy pinball, playing, criticising, talking about it, collecting, modding etc.
Its not the place where people will reserve a criticism based on what a company may have invested, or perhaps what the IP holders have influenced.
The comments were made in the right place, not with a mic outside the companies head office, being rude.
The irony is, you insulted the people who are in the room chatting in front of you, because of opinions they had away from the designers.

I had to laugh

No, I think it’s unintentional.

Look at Spooky Pinballs Halloween.
Now that’s art!

It looks like an interesting fun game to play.

That song list is epic.

I think having live songs is right for this band, Freddie was top of his game in the vocals and hopefully we'll hear some of his banter, what a legend.

My comments were made because I doubt most have any idea what goes on behind the scenes. I was adding some context and possibly additional info. I certainly wasn't intentionally insulting anyone and, maybe aside from you, I doubt anyone was actually insulted by my comments.

My experience of IP is from the other side of the equation. It’s amazing how far down the road people go before trying to clear copyright with the owners. A classic case is with films. We had a situation where paramount shot a scene of people dancing to one of our tracks. Paying their lead several million plus God knows how much on production costs. Only then did they approach us for synch rights and acted all butt hurt when we then asked for a chunk of cash given we knew they would no longer be able to reshoot the scene.
This situation is far from unusual.
I know nothing about the history of the artwork for the queen pin. But is it likely these drawings came from the band’s side or the manufacturer? Given how out of keeping it is with the bands back catalogue I’d lay money on the manufacturers side.

Sure IP and licence didn't force the artist to make Brian May's arm loom like it has a wasting disease! There's no excuse for poor art like this. As I said, to me, the only truly terrible part is the translite. On reflection, that isn't going to be so easy to replace as its integral to the speakers and so directly printed possibly.

The main point was that it was Ironic and I had to laugh, I doubt anyone was insulted either...I wasn't, it wasn't aimed towards me. I hadn't made a comment. When I used the word insulted...maybe this was too strong a word for what I meant... No hard feelings.

Brian wasnt happy with a lot on the proto but as bravado has licensed it, its not down to the band.

Brian and Roger love pinball. Roger used to have a load at home. My mate used to repair them.

You can bet your life call outs got done quickly and no doubt I will be the guy who has to repair them.

Just like Zeppelin, Rush and no Queen. The companies could of done better!

At least they put nuts on the plastics this time.

Any love for this? I like Queen, but as some with more understanding of playfield layouts pointed out, this isn’t pushing the envelope. I like the look of Alien, looks packed with shots and the ball grab mech is a pinball moment. This seems like a backwards step for the company unless there’s something we’re not seeing from the photos

I like the fact the prices look reasonable and I like the upper playfield kinda loosely stolen from GnR but I think the main feature of this pin is not gonna be layout or code but the music that will do the talking.
I love queen over ACDC but will it be a better game hell no, not a chance as it was one of Lymans best if not thee best.
Still interested in seeing the reveal of the gameplay though.

All the songs are live versions. ffs. skimping on licensing. 😂😂
It’s what Andrew got, the license was buttons. Be interesting to see if they go with the other licenses (doubtful) or if they come up with an actual game themselves, more stuff stolen from the remains of HP, shame they didn’t pay people back who lost money (lest we forget the brothers were the funding behind HP)

If Queen was on the market for a pin, why didn’t Stern snag it.
I love the songs chosen. One would hope they pick good live performances.
Why would the band sign off on that awful art and cab decals. P!ss poor…
Also, peeps who pay for limited pins, like mirrored back glass.
Looks like another piece of plastic for Translite.

They dont have to - it is done via Bravado - who do licensing deals with bands - mainly on T shirts and merch for world tours.
I know Brian Mays guitar tech and Brian was not favourable on the game.
May/Deacon/Taylour dont sit around signing off on stuff they wont earn much out of. Like @mufcmufc says - the original license was peanuts. But I would think after so long it would be re-negotiated and/or relicensesd.

Let's look at Thunderbitds - The Anderson family did not sign off on that rubbish artwork.

GnR for its faults with manufacturing and bad sound quality - I must say the layout was good - Brilliant use on the guitar headstock for ball lock and the bass neck on the left hand side.

Can someone do a meme of Slash on the phone to Brian May saying 'my pinball is better than yours'.
