Hi All!

I'm just dipping my toe in the world of Pinball Machines! I have a local friend who has recently sold a DE Star Wars machine and having missed out on the opportunity to buy it I have decided to actively try and get hold of a reasonably priced working machine myself. It doesn't have to be perfect, just working will be fine and I'll learn to improve the pin myself.

I won't jump straight on the 'Wanted' section today as I've only just joined but any buying advice for the Star Wars machine in particular would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum Lee and good luck finding your first machine, you've definately come to the right place to buy from a trusted seller and avoid the ebay minefield.

welcome Lee. i dunno what your mate sold his for, but my best advice is never buy before finding out the basic price a game goes for. there's a price thread in the n00b forum, search in there or just ask.

Star Wars prices begin at about a grand and go up as high as someone is willing to pay, but i wouldn't go over about £1400 for one personally, maybe £1500 it was all refurbed and looking like new. i'd pay extra if it's coming from someone that's just taken it apart and cleaned it all up. if you get a dirt cheap one (like 900) then you can expect to have to spend more time and money getting it playable, so it depends if appearance is important to you or if you just want it all working.

Hi Lee,

There are three Star Wars pins. The DE one is normally considered to be the best of the three.

For me I wouldn't go much above £1200 for one. It's an OK game but not as good as the theme deserves.

Have you focused on it for a reason or just because of the theme?

Meets/shows are a great way to actually find out which games float your boat

Actually 4 Star Wars games.........also The Empire Strikes Back (Hankin 1980)..... though you are highly unlikely to find one for sale in the UK [emoji6]

Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated. Finding a machine for around the £1200 mark would be great, so fingers crossed on that one!
I'm specifically looking for the DE Star Wars machine as I think it looks good and I'm more of a Star Wars collector than a pin collector. I appreciate the gameplay is not the best but still a nice piece of Star Wars related nostalgia to enjoy.

I'll post on the 'Wanted' section soon!

Just found the site. I've only this year (2015) bought my first pinball machines but have been a fan all my life. First one was a DE Simpson which I owned for about 2 months.. Got bored of it and sold it. Then bought a Bally Shadow. I've had it about 4 Months and I still love it. I think I need to buy a Stern Star Trek Pro machine here pretty soon I just love that game... cant get enough of it. I see this site is manly a UK group. Well I live in Florida USA. Maybe I'll meet some friends across the pond so next time I am in London you all can assist me with pin locations. :)

Hi Ray

Welcome to the site. Most people here are UK based but don't let that put you off;) If you do come to London again then there are several of us based there.

It might also be worth checking out pinside if you are looking for some people a bit closer to home. 90%+ of the people on there seem to be American.

Cheers

John

Welcome Ray, I'm pretty new to the forum too but haven't got my first pin yet. Ide love a star trek pro myself seems to be a lot of good talked about that game if only I can raise a bit more cash

Greetings. Was looking for someone to service the 2 machines I bought many years ago that have just come out of storage when I came across this site. Well done for putting it all together.

Welcome aboard mate. Which games are they? Pinball heaven is probably the closest place to get your games serviced or I'm sure we could talk you through any issues. Obviously I'm referring to the "Royal we"

Bought The Shadow a long time ago and then followed it up with The Twilight Zone. Work, moving around a lot etc etc followed.

Last time I played TZ (6 years ago!) all that was wrong with it was the high scores etc got wiped every time I turned it back on. The Shadow had more wear and included one of the dagger flippers not working. The cabinets could do with a tidy as well, the odd chip here and there but they were both in more than decent condition when I bought them. Just about to move in to a house so have space to set them up properly and want to get them looking and playing as good as can be. Probably have space for another machine or 2 as well so on the lookout to compliment what I already have. Any suggestions?

Hi All,
New member from Barnsley wanting to say "Hello" I've just bought my first Gottlieb EM machine...
Dunno if it's true but most people say if I buy another they'll breed? Lol :)

BB

Welcome Bandit Boy, you don't need 2 too start breeding I was told that if you get 1 then it starts breeding on its own.

I've got 1 and trying to look and save for no2!
