New members - say hello right here : )

Been lurking here a lot for the last few months, and I think I saw some of you guys at the Pipeline for LPL 2015 meet 1. Have finally taken the plunge and signed up to start posting.

A few of us would have been at the LPL. Myself, Dan, Matt (obviously;)), Pete . Robin and Matti occasionally post here. Probably missing some pretty obvious members but hey it's Friday night.....

Hi there!

My name is Vic and i am from the Bristol area. Loved playing pinball as a kid. Black Rose somewhere in Cornwall...

Already have a STTNG but am looking for a fixer upper as a project. Something DMD. Really like TFTC theming or JM.

Seems like this would be the place for some friendly help and advice!

Thanks for the welcome. I have been lurking here for a while and have got some fantastic advice already!

Vic, welcome to Pinball Info.
I'm a Black Rose fan also.

I am 99% sure that half of it was broken and the ball was doing some strange things but i remember it being amazing!.

Played it again on pinball arcade (not the same of course) but i think its an underrated table!

I enjoyed my Black Rose while I had it but I couldn't get past the fact that the groove around the canon plastic had a horrible effect on a slow moving ball bouncing around in the flipper area, no matter how level it was that groove is always there.

I was looking at one until i saw the STTNG. I wanted something with a deeper ruleset. Definately a keeper (for now).

It looks a bit lonely now though...and the addiction starts! ;)

Evening everyone! Another lurker and pinball fan raising his hand here. A bit of history first...

I can't recall what machine I first played but I do remember it was an old EM in a seaside arcade and I didn't know how to work it! After that I would try and play on a pintable whenever I found one on the day trips to the coast. I do remember in 1982, this metal fan finding a KISS pinball machine in Cleethorpes, complete with an 'Out of order' sign on it! Damn. Later on a school trip to France I annoyed the hell out of my mates trawling around for tables, and here I experienced the 'Harlem Globetrotters', 'Pink Panther' (which I mistakenly put a ten franc piece into! An hour later...) and a really difficult 'Q Bert' where the ball kept hitting the glass and getting the attention of Monsieur Attendante. Then on another trip I introduced a friend to the joys of plunging (!) whereby he well and truly thrashed me in an ill advised 'Gorgar' contest. I hadn't touched one for years until during a boring night in a pub, spotted what I think was a 'Fish Tales'. I didn't get a chance to play as it was surrounded by punters all resting their glasses on the top. Around 15 years ago I was offered the chance to go halves on a partially working Zaccaria 'Pinball Champ 82' which I did. For 20 quid each me and a mate got a nice bit of furniture that functions apart from the plasma displays. We must try and get that working properly someday...

Now my interest in pinball has been reignited by this 'visual pinball' malarkey, especially 'Pinball Arcade', I love it. On pc and tablet/phone too! However you can't really beat the real thing and I would love to own a few machines. This year I find myself in the position of not 'new home forces sale' but 'new home forces purchase'! Yes, in the not too distant future I hope to have a games room nicely stocked with a few machines of my own. We'll see....

cheers!

Hola everyone. Mani here 41. I moved to Tunbridge Wells late in 2006, currently trying to buy a home in the outskirts of Mayfield. Little history I guess▬ I’m from the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. First table I played was the one my brother kept trying to beat, The Black Hole. Being the runt of the family I would always try to best my older brother on any machine that he played on. Back then it was half pinball and half video machines. So I pretty much grew up in both worlds, admittedly getting hooked more and more with the video dark side of the force . My last use of a pinball machine, before moving to UK, was Ripley’s Believe it or Not. When finally settled in Tunbridge Wells I really didn’t realize that there were no pinball machines around me since I was taken in by all new things. Such as Rugby…

As life went on, Job, marriage, child, now new home,…hopefully. I started to play Pinball FX, but it wasn’t until I played the Pinball Arcade that I had a brain fart. There it was.. The Black Hole, Ripley’s Believe it or Not and Tales of the Arabian Nights. Virtual was good to me for the first 36 hours, but it sparked the need for the REAL. Alas, I could not find any pinball around my area, searching the web and calling pubs, until I decided to take a trip to The Pipeline. Took me 4 hours to get there and back, only played for 30 minutes, but had a smile on my face the whole day after that. I was saving for a motorbike, now I’m saving for a table and a “how to” book on convincing my wife why this is essential for my sanity and our marriage.

Cheers

Welcome MEM, virtual pin playing is no match for the real thing ! Take a look out in the for sale section for machines, stuff coming up all the time. Good luck in your hunt.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Do any here know if the Pipeline meeting this weekend is a closed event? Or can someone walk in for a friendly peek, chat or game. I probably can’t go regardless, as I’m working all this weekend, but just in case I am out early I was just wondering.

Welcome Mani,
There are not many arcades around in the south of the country which is a bit sad. There are probably a few pubs dotted around with the odd machine in.
There is a pub in Bromley Kent (Swan & Mitre) which has an Avatar, but still a bit of a trek for you.

Pipeline is a great pub, I am pretty sure this weekend is only for people registered for the London Pinball Championship, but saying that usually it is still open for the public later on anyway.

hey Mani welcome aboard. i clicked on your location as i never heard of Rotherfield - and i reckon your best bet for a massive pinball overdose would be not this weekend at the LPC (not because it's exclusive, as that just isn't what pinheads are about, but because i think all the places may have gone) but next Sunday May 24th at @Matt Adams place in Bognor Regis near Chichester. he is hosting a meet of the London & SE League at his most awesome pin shack, the best collection in the best pinspace i have ever seen. you will totally sh!t your pants when you see it.

click on this http://www.ukpinballleague.co.uk/index.php
then go to schedules and SE and you will see it - it says Worthing but that's wrong
then go to contacts and send Dawn an email or a text - and i will see you there :)

Thank you Chirs. I thought as much. I can only pray that pinball keeps growing interest in my area.
