New members - say hello right here : )

Hi Andrea, welcome to Pinball Info.
You are lucky as there are loads of pinball people in Yorkshire with great collections of machines so no shortage there.
Check out the Northern pinball league a great place to meet other nutters and play plenty of diffedifferent machines.

Jalapeno your timing is good regarding ramps. I've got an old TAF ramp sitting here which has made it from under the machine to the front door and is about to be slung out. You'd be welcome to it. Guessing you are looking at flame polishing.

Can either bring it to a London league meet or you can drop by and pick it up

Cheers

John

hello cooldan :) so many to choose from my head is spinning a bit! I played on my friends funhouse machine years ago and that was always good fun although a little scary lol on the look out for something that's not boring and in good condition. I don't have budgets as such as it will be my first machine :)

Hello replicas :) that's great I didn't realise there is a league I would need to get some practice in before I show myself up with the lowest ever score! lol

Possibly the biggest misconception people have about attending league meetings for the first time - most of the people that go are not great players, and rather than competition, they go for the social and the opportunity to play someone else's pins for an afternoon.

I would warmly encourage you to attend the league no matter how bad your play...no one will take the ****, in fact probably the opposite ...my dad came to quite a few meets to try & see what I enjoyed about them...I more or less have to remind him where the flipper buttons are each time he plays, and yet at every meet recently people have asked after him (he's only not attending due to having an arthritic hip & can't stand all afternoon...he misses the friendly welcome & atmosphere at the league meetings).

Regards,
Dan.

some ballpark budget is useful. there's a busted up old thing just sold for 280 on ebay and it was overpriced, there's a whole host of titles available in the 1000-2000 bracket which is the usual fishing grounds for most games, or you can go all the way up to the most popular old ones for 2500-4500, or even a brand new one for 5-6000. or buy Dave Bishop's BigBangBar for 10,000

Hi dan :) I didn't think of it that way I was just thinking of how embarrassing it would be if I scored the lowest ever! I bet its really good to get together with people that have the same interests and I imagine its the best place to get advice and tips :)

I think for my first machine I would like a second hand one but in a good condition because I like stuff that's been looked after...I just want one that's fun to play so I will just keep a look out to see what catches my eye. :)

Hi,

Yes, there's a few of us in Yorkshire and occasionally a game comes up for sale not too far away. Whereabouts are you, roughly speaking? Another chap joined the forum last week who's only 3 miles down the road from me in Selby. Small world!

Having a rough ballpark budgetary figure will help steer the advice, just whatever you do - don't buy off eBay!

Cheers for the welcome everyone, and thanks for the offer of the ramp John; I am indeed wanting to try my hand at flame polishing. I like the theory, but my coordination skills don't tend to work well with pinball machines at the best of times- and that's just playing them. Throw a blowtorch into the mix and literally anything could happen.

Really appreciate the offer - I'll send you a PM.

Cheers!
