New members - say hello right here : )

welcome Mike, we're a friendly crowd here. if you click on that 'user map' thingy up ^ there ^ you'll see that there's a few pinheads not too far from you, and you may even find there's a league meeting or a social event nearby you can go to. whatever you buy, you can be sure that the folks on here will sort you out with getting a decent game for a decent price, and helping you fix it when (inevitably) something falls off and goes boink. what's your budget?

Thanks for the warm and quick response, I would hope to get something around the 750.00 mark to start with (just missed one on ebay, a Baywatch table which went for I think 850 in calstock cornwall) but it would have to be something working well as I know nothing (at the moment)of the workings. But knowing me as soon as I have one and enjoy it with the kids I would want to upgrade.

Hi Mike - welcome to the forum!!

I'm in 'sunny' Exeter, so obviously a different part of town!:);)

I was about to mention @ianw 's bad cats but just checked and saw you had that covered.

Highly recommend (as many will) buying via this forum as you'll get far greater certainty and much better value fro pm a great crowd of fellow members. I got my first proper machine here less than a year ago from the legendary @Fintan Stack and appear to be able to track it's full genealogical history back via @kevlar to the person to restored it to great condition a few years ago.

Not got anything for sale as my collection is not extensive (yet), but you'd be welcome to bring the grand kids around for a game on my working machine whilst you 're waiting to sort your own.

Nick

Hi Mike

Welcome aboard! You are only down the road from me. I don't have anything for sale right now but I have 4 machines setup currently and you are welcome to come round for a cup of tea and a few games if you ever fancy it. You too @Nickbs . I've moved to a more pin friendly house since we met last year!

Cheers @Fintan Stack - I must take you up on that! So have you actually moved to a new pinball shavk with a bedroom, loo & garage ( for the stored machines)????

Hi all you southwesterners I feel much more at home now! Nickbs you must be the other side of the river mate, ime St Thomas way.
Finton Stack hopefully take you up on your offer as I am often in your neck of the woods and also Kingsbridge for ianw
Looking forward to a descent machine coming my way anytime soon

Mike, a big welcome to Pinball Info.
Looks like you are in good hands with some great guys only a stone's throw from you so happy days.
Now just need to sort you out with a machine.

Hi al ,

My name is Dimitri 43 years young and I think I’m a pinball addict ;-)

I stared collecting about 2.5 years ago and had already more than 70 pin’s !

I still have a collection of about 28 pieces.

A few of my pins are STTNG , IJ , No fear (my favourite) , road show ,TAF , T2 (have also a full chrome) , Champion pub , TZ , The flinstones , CV , WH20 , safecracker (HUO), banzai run and a few others.

I mostly collect Williams/bally no stern (accept the MMLE that I ordered when they announced it with is not a stern but made by stern I know )

I live in Belgium between Gent and Brussels.

I also restore my own pins(I will post my just finished STTNG full restoration in one of the appropriate topics.

Already a picture added I could not help myself ;-)

Cheers ,

Dimitri

Dimitri, welcome to Pinball Info.
Wouldn't mind seeing your games room. So many in 2.5 years is a serious illness, I salute you.

Well I sold already a few and still have about 28 for the moment

I have about 20 in my home scattered all around the house and the rest are with friends of me.

And yes I know I’m ill but I like it ;-)

Hi all I thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Graham from Bingley West Yorkshire. I've been reading the site now for a couple of months and finally signed up a few weeks ago.

I contracted Pinballitus when I was just a small boy, it's obviously hereditary as my dad suffers from the same condition. It was playing pins with my dad as a child that started me off and slowly over the years the condition worsened until eventually I bought my first machine.

I've owned many machines over the last 15 years at one point I had quite a collection

TZ, Addams, SS, IJ, STNG, DW, GN'R SWE1, RFM, CFTBL, Batman

I sold up around 7 years ago but sadly the illness took a hold a couple of years ago resulting in project LW3. That's now led on to my current project SW. I must admit SW was a particularly big project which I'm just getting towards finishing!! I've met some great guys through pins and couldn't of got to where I am with SW without some help from the experts!!

Got room for 1 more project, I'm thinking of something I've not owned before and one with a few memories so Terminator 2, Dracula, Shadow or even TFTC may make it into the workshop :-)

The site really is great and it seems is awash with good guys all enjoying the same pleasure. Looking forward to swapping the odd post and no doubt getting some help when I'm scratching my head with the latest issue!

Hi all, I'm Jon from Guildford.......

I'm thinking it's a way of connecting with my younger self but as I approach 40 I seem to have discovered pinball is the elixir of youth. My hair grows thicker and my skin smoother with every game. I forget my aches and pains and everyday stresses and for the mere half hour I get to play here and there it's just me, balls of steel and many, many curse words.

I'm keen on the early to mid 90's pins, probably because that was when I was first (legally) entering pubs and back then there was a pin tucked in the corner of most of the establishments I frequented. My first purchase was a Demo Man 10 years ago, and a few years ago he was joined by IJ, you guys will know the machine, it was the raffle prize in the East Coast Slam a few years ago, so if you guys were wondering where it ended up look no further I bought it off another site member. I recently added a GnR to the family, from the guy in Hove some of you speak fondly of, it was in great nick tbh he'd done a good repair on the cabinet that I wouldn't have ever noticed had he not been keen to show me the before pictures, he'd also had the lockdown bar and side rails recoated and the playfield was top drawer and any broken plastics replaced and new rubbers and all clean and shiny. A few bulbs were out and this turned out to be because of a broken wire as discovered by the legend that is pinball mania.

A few weeks ago I purchased a Baywatch from a guy round the corner, the perfect summer pin if you ask me!! It's at a mates until I get my garage insulated as my suffering good lady is expecting number 2 so the dining/pin room is returning to family use and the garage will become my man cave....can't wait!

I have a question, 2 infact if anyone can advise I'd be most grateful. The BW has the flipper with the fin, but the fin was missing along with the plastic that covers the plunger coil. Any ideas where I can find these rather hard to find bits, it seems every other plastic is on ebay but this one and I have no idea about the fin?! Also, the screw that held the fin to the flipper as slowly gouged a deep groove in the playfield, I'm thinking of using woodfiller to get it flush then acrylic nail polish to touch up the colours, does this sound like a good idea, will nail polish hold up or should I cover it with a little bit of mylar?

Thanks for taking the time to read my life story,

Best wishes, Jon
