New members - say hello right here : )

Welcome aboard, just keep an eye on the for sale section, probably the best place in the UK to find yourself a table

Welcome Moz and yes, what they said. Buy from here and you know the seller is a pinhead. If it's broken we (they, I mean) will help get it fixed. When you want to change it there's always another one available.

Start with one. In a year you will have three. And then the madness really sets in.

Hi All. I got into this hobby by accident when a friend gave me his Gold Ball to help clear his storage knowing it would be my 'cup of tea' - how right he was. Now I own a DMM, PCB soldering skills, know what an SCR is and have written the switch matrix. I've bored all my friends to death with this new found knowledge but they enjoy playing the game when it's working :-)

As a kid I lived near Bognor Regis and hung out at the arcades (at least 5 in those days most now closed - does anybody remember the Dalek in Harrisons?) . At the time it was the rise of the video game so my coins went in Space Invaders, Berzerk, Asteroids, Battlezone, Gorf, Cosmic Guerilla, Galaxians... My only interest in pinball then was Space Invaders being the obvious cross over and I'd like to own one of those today.

So far I haven't seen/played any of these new machines you all talk about (TZ, LOTR, TOM, ACDC etc) so don't know what I'm missing.

Welcome astyy. There are a few pinheads in your neck of the woods. So you should be able to play some of those treats you have in store.

Hey one and all! My name is Peter, I'm from Clevedon, North Somerset and I'm on my last year of studying at University of South Wales (Newport side). I'm not at a point of life when I can own machines yet so I'll probably start when I have my own place. There are plenty that I've played on on location especially around Weston-Super-Mare and recently Newport. I do know about Neil's lot in Weston but I refrained from introducing myself because it would come out of nowhere. I also know of the new local league that will start next month but I'd rather get good before I even enter any sort of league. I don't get many opportunities to play pinball thus I feel rusty most of the time while playing.

Hi Peter and welcome to the forum, great bunch on here.

Don't let your skill (or lack of) put you off attending a league meet, it is not about the competition but more to do with meeting up and having a few games of pinball and talking cack with other people.

Also you should checkout some of the larger meets and shows as they are some of the best places to get to play some of the best machines in the country, they are usually well maintained and fully working unlike a lot of machines on location.

Cheers
Ian

Hi, I'm Dean from Porthcawl, Sunny South Wales. I'm one of the admins over at the new zaccaria.co.uk forum. I'm 99.9% a vid guy, but I have potential to learn. Looking forward to expanding my knowledge on pins by being part of your forum here.
Cheers

Hello all.

Just beginning to get into looking at getting my own machine after stumbling accross Johns Arcade on youtube and realising how much i actually loved punball over arcade games.

I grew up in the late 70's early 80's plaing games whenever I could, primarily Skegness but also a lot of pinball at the local leisure centre.

Hope to get into this hobby but funds may stop me...

Thanks for that, much apreciated though I don't know how active I will be due to lack of Sheckles and a garage to clear out of family junk and then to try and fund a machine.

Heck would love a "project" but even those I have no idea where to source. lol.

I'd suggest getting involved in the UK Pinball league as a starter for getting to play lots of different games. This will help you figure out what types of pins you might want to buy. Us Midland lot are a friendly bunch and the next meet is early March I think. More info can be found on the website;

HAd a quick look and the dates are nowhere near me and also I am a stay at home dad so plenty of free time during week days but weekends are family time so it cuts me out a bit.

Yes I know it sounds strange, just need a hobby for those lonely weekdays when the daughter is at school.

My pinball life wrapped up in a single sentence. Thanks, Dan ;)

Me too! Nearly got one but now I realise it was a bit pricey. Would look AWESOME sat next to PARAGON though. Same super-size widebody. Not actually that brilliant to play but a real looker.

Hi all although ime a noobie I am also an oldy and remember with fondnest the hours passed playing pinball trying to attract girls at my local social club with my prowess (not a lot more to do in the sixties).
Anyway now I have two grandchildren (boy 8 and girl 7)who love playing pinball on their xbox, I would love to buy them a proper one to experience the real joy and excitement of the sport!
If anyone has a good starter machine in the Devon area that wants to sell could you let me know as I would be interested
My name is Mike and I live in Exeter, not very good with anything mechanical but by the looks of your forum everyone tries to help each other which was a big attraction to joining
