New members - say hello right here : )

Hi to both Bens :)

Ben-P - If you're both selling a machine and going to the slam, I'd suggest taking the one you're selling as you get a captive audience of loads of pinheads who get the chance to playtest the machine before buying it (assuming you've not sold it by then).

Not been to a show (or a league meet for that matter) yet where at least one pin hasn't changed ownership :)

Greetings both Bens. I know Ben P and have watched him being beaten by his son and daughter on many occasions. Ben X, you are a lucky guy to have found this place and to have the funds at your disposal at age 24. No doubt someone here will provide one :)

Sorry I meant to elaborate.

I'm from the South of Ireland, down in Waterford (nowhere near Dover :P)

I have a blast city in my living room aswell as a fairly extensive collection of games and toys. Looking to be getting a pinball in the next month or 2 aswell. I spotted that gorgeous Demolition Man on here aswell, I think that would be a perfect machine for me. I'd be a big fan of cheesy 90s action films and Stallone himself! haha

Hi Ben,

You should know by now the answer isn't to sell one of your existing pins. You just need to move useless furniture such as the dining room table out...;)

yes, I am trying to think of a cunning way to disguise the extra one in the house, or maybe store in the garage! but probably won't get away with it.

Hi Folks, after too long spent lurking as a guest I have finally taken the plunge signed up. My name is Ben, and I enjoy playing pinball! I probably know quite a few of the (southern) regulars here from the London&SE and Surrey league meetings – I am the one often being beaten by my kids. I have 2 machines at home (No Fear & Flinstones) but somehow managed to pick up a Judge Dredd when at the Pipeline last time (oops!), so one of the others will have to go due to lack of space. Looking forward to the Slam – and I should be able to help by bringing a machine along.
Cheers.

Hi Ben . Welcome aboard !

Thanks for the offer of a game for the Slam ...if you could stick your name and machine on the thread here that would be awesome. Starting to tot up machine numbers now, and they will be added to the website which is going live imminently :D

Thread here ..

Hi, my name is frank, born 72 and i am from germany.
My way to pinball started (again) in the year 2013. my lovely wife bought me a terminator 2 because she listen me carefully. I often told her, that i loved the T2 in the early 90th. I went to our disco just to playing on it.
Some month later w e got a TOM and SS too and w e believe that ist not the end of our hobby trip.

thanks for this forum and for the community

Hi all

Having registered a few weeks ago, finally got round to making a first post.

My main reason for joining is that with a 'significant birthday' on the horizon (big '50') I was asked the question "what would you like for your birthday' the answer was 'a pinball machine!' and this seems a good place to start doing some research and gleaning knowledge of the best way to go about it.

Having been into Pinball from my early teens (paying regularly at the local 'yoof' club, although I think we spelt it differently in those days) I then managed 3 summers of student summer jobs in the arcades of Torquay (paying special attention to partial re-furbs of Pinball machines) combined with spending a lot playing machines as student in Birmingham. Working on London & Brum the interest continued, but waned a little with reducing numbers of machines available.

Moved back to Exeter in the 90's and acquired a fairly battered but 75% functional EM machine for home use (as part of a business deal when I found it sitting in the corner of a 'junk' shop in Okehampton) - never managed to get much more working and eventually the machine almost went up in flames (thick acrid smoke etc) when being 'over used' during a party - it then got reluctantly moved on before we moved house.

Kids, mortgages work & other activities have combined to get in the way in more recent years - but the time is now right to get back into Pinball!

Hoping to make it across to Worthing for the Sunday of the South Coast Slam and I'll be looking for tips and suggestions on best approach to buying (more about that on a separate thread in the not too distant future).

NB: Managed to get some games in on an 'X-man' machine in an arcade in Newquay, including introducing my younger daughter to her first proper game. She seemed to quite enjoy it, but being an enquiring sort of person did ask the fundamental question 'what exactly is the point of pinball???'. I'm still working on the full answer to that!
