A reply on the Hurricane big wheel belts:

The belts that drive the ferris wheel are still soft and supple with the maximum amount of adjustment left to do.

Is this how they are supposed to be?

Thanks

No red fade on that JD cab, unless it's a nice touch up job. PF looks pretty good too with just a few ssssslightly raised inserts (which is practically unavoidable, right?), but eh, eBay photos usually lie. :)

Creech PF looks damaged in spots though but nothing drastic I guess, wonder what it'll go for.

Think it would have to be pretty much like new to make the opening bid of 2.6K+

Nowhere near it....

  • Regarding the playfield, it has a very minor wear just above the left flipper, shown in the images. It has minor wear to the neutral zone hole which is to be expected. There is damage to an insert where the ball enters play, also pictured but hard to see when it is lit.
  • A few of the plastics have cracks and missing corners, these are all common breakages and replacements are available
  • "Alpha" and "Beta" ramps are cracked at the bottom. These can be replaced or alternatively ramp protectors are available.

However.... "Price negotiation is a possibility" - Knock a grand off for starters...

The amount of effort put in to hacking this Pinbot around (2 doorbell buttons on the front of the cab and an interesting power supply and fuse arrangement) is quite impressive. You'd think it would have been cheaper and quicker to fix it properly.

Id have it at £750 if it wasnt going to cost £100+ to get is shipped to Northern Ireland.

That and having less than zero space.... selling a pin then buying one doesnt really make space it seems

For 750 I'd buy another one!

You guys are nuts. I am starting to think that none of you have actually played one. Ever.

Oh i did. Spain, around 6-7 years ago. the only machine i have EVER left credits in as i couldn't take it any more....

So how may goes was that then? Not enough my friend!

It is the hardest game I have ever played. I have had one for months now and I still have not got close to the wizard mode. But that is why I like it. But I think that is also the reason some people don't like it.

But lets face it, most of the hate from Popeye originated from Steve Richie's famous post. (he had **** all to do with the game by the way and was not too fond of 1 or 2 of the people that were involved..... just saying.) And ever since then people slag if off or laugh about it when they haven't even played it. Most people that have will tell you that it really is a decent game.

In fact, I just checked it out on IMDB. It is rated higher than: TMNT, SF2, Star Trek (DE), South Park, Batman, Waterworld, Robocop, Viper Night Driving, Jurassic Park Lost World. And that is just a selection. But none of these games have the reputation so nobody ever slags them off.

Oh, an it's rated higher than another game that I should probably mention.... Big Bang Bar!

Yay! Go Popeye!

So what made it so bad then?

The flow of the table just felt really off for me, the large uppler playfield boat blocks the view of shots your making and there's all that space in the playfield with nothing on it. And the music, urgh.

I don't know about this Steve Richie post you mention though.

Different people like different tables, if we all liked the same it would be boring.
