Why would he say it was sold then ? surely if he could sell it a few times its more money for him ?

I assume to cover himself or it was some sort of lie? Also I believe this game has been sold a few times already through scams. Not to sound cynical but do you really, really believe someone would sell a MM without doing a little research first or having some idea of what it is worth?

I'm not usually one to point out scammers/con artists etc but I have seen this MM a number of times now and I just don't want to see anyone else get scammed out of £250.

Now I freely admit to knowing almost zilch about football and not being terribly keen on it either, but I have an inkling that World Cup '86 wouldn't be that popular with England fans as (after checking Wikipedia to make sure my facts are correct) it was the year of "The Hand Of God" by Maradona...

So, suddenly back to the future has outpaced TAF in the pinflation department!?!, Insanity! good luck with the sale and keep dreaming.

:tut::sad::cuckoo::-o

Expect more of this in the coming months. The £250 minimum thing will make lots of pin sellers jack up prices at the same time as driving collectors to seek advertising their machines elsewhere. May not be such a bad thing if everyone congregated here to sell for example ;)

It looks like it could do with a damn good clean, but that's no biggie. Only couple of things I can see ...

- the CPU board has had the battery holder replaced at some stage - that white one with the red wires coming out of it isn't original. I guess the old holder had some battery leakage damage, hopefully the rest of the board is OK
- it's difficult to be 100% sure from the photo, but that big plastic ramp that loops right around the bottom of the playfield seems to have a broken mounting tab (bottom right mounting). The Hurricane I had some time back had the same break, seems to be quite common and doesn't stop the game playing.

The one thing on this game which is a pain in the proverbial to fix is the rubber belt that turns the 2 "big wheel" ball locks at the back. It does break after a while and you have to remove around 1 million different things to get the wheels out.

I asked the seller if he could post a picture of the circuit boards in thw back box as there wasn't any shown originally. Is it worth asking if he could take a photo of anything else specific (e.g. below where the original batteries were).

Thanks

You could ask for the extra pics and it certainly wouldnt do any harm, however in my experience a lot of pinball sellers dont want to mess around taking lots of pics and would rather lose the sale to the next highest bidder than trouble themselves to get the camer out. Certainly wrth asking though!

Had a reply when I asked about battery corrosion and age of the big wheel belts:

The original battery holder has been replaced and there is little to no corrosion underneath, i don't know when those belts where last changed but i will check in detail what condition they are in tomorrow, i do have some spare belts if they are needed.

Table is currently stored at his office.

NO!!!!!

It's a great table, so no need for 'upgrades'.

(ie play untl you are bored, then give me a nudge!)

+1 to that, a classic that is perfect as originally designed!

Very good price too, I was tempted to bid but would have struggled to get over to Kent to collect. I'll have it after you, abaxas.... :)

So, I picked up the Space Shuttle yesterday afternoon, it was only about a mile from where I work. Cab is in very good condition although faded. Backglass is extremely good apart from one scratch which has been touched in at some time. No flaking or anything else. Playfield is absolutely filthy, but nothing a gallon of Novus and a box of magic erasers won't fix. Generally for 30 years old the playfield is pretty good, it has the usual insert wear and also a few paint chips missing which will touch in OK as they are solid colours. Plastics all seem good. Space Shuttle toy/model has a couple of cracks in and is faded but is complete. It all plays fine, even the lock which the previous owner stuffed up with tissue as the ball didn't kick out seems to be fine after I adjusted the switch a little. Boards all look good, someone put in a remote battery pack at some time. Interesting selection of fuses in there though, the flipper power supply has a 13A fuse from a regular household plug wedged in there! Game was operated by For Amusement Only at some time because it's their pricing card in the apron.

Enough to keep me busy for a little while, although I'm not convinced it'll be here for too long - it was more of an impulse thing (I didn't think I'd win it) because it was so close by. Watch this space :)
