My IJ on ebay is being 'bid-up' by a new user (created account on Sunday) with 0% feedback and no other activity. Has anyone seen this before? what is the point? My concern is that if they win the auction and don't follow through with the sale. Any advice?

I don't know how to do it but if you're not happy you can pull the bids of the 0% feedback person.

Hi I would contact the bidder via ebay message and ask if he is serious in the item due to his zerofeedback, in a polite way, if no response cancel his bids.

This is what I have done, given them the chance to show they are genuine before removing their bids. Currently, they are only £50 over a genuine bid but it does strike me as strange that the account was created so recently.

Since the IJ is a private listing..I simply woulnd't bid at all.

It reeks of dodginess.... not that there probably is any.
Please explain this to me? How/what have I done that makes this look dodgy? Can i change this whilst it is still listed? I have sold machines on e-bay before and not had anyone comment that they looked dodgy.

Agreed, I would always hesitate on a private auction. Clearly nothing wrong with Matt's auction but it would worry me if I didn't "know" him.

Could someone explain the reason for a private listing? I would only imagine adult sexual items would need that type of auction to stop buyers being identified or am I wrong?

I think People sometimes do this to make it look like there are lots of other people interested to put other buyers off. If I look at an item that I'm willing to pay say £100 for but there are already 4 bids and it's at £95 I might just think oh well and leave it. Or not bother setting up a snipe because I don't think il get it.

They set up an account or get other people hey know to place lots of lower bids to scare off the competition. That's all it is really.

This also has the benefit for people selling similar items. They can justify deals outside of eBay because here are the same items with confirmed bids.

Just my thinking.....

is it private because you had to relist it?

does private mean it's only open to people in the original auction?

my guess is that whoever hit BIN on your original auction where you accidentally sold it for a grand is now having a personal vendetta against you. can you contact the person who originally clicked BIN and ask him?

If they have made multiple bids and you remove them then all other bids are reduced back down to amounts prior to 0 feedback bidder

They have refused to cancel the transaction and seem to harbor hopes that I'll just give in and let them have it for that.

I have been using the same template to list items for a long time now so they must have all been private, I assume that i chose that setting as it was a private sale (i.e. not a business listing) lesson learnt. Anyway, the machine has now sold from the original advert on here so no harm done.

Ring Ebay customer services. Easy! ;)
I spent well over an hour trying to find contact info, starting an online 'chat', being transferred (you are #79 in the queue) and then eventually someone confirmed they will 'look into the case':mad::mad:

Look bottom line Matt is they can't force you to give it to them at that price, worst comes to the worst they will leave you some negative feedback. I can't possibly see how eBay will side with the buyer in this case as you have made every effort to contact the buyer and you have emails to prove he is being an **** and hoping you will just give in. I think he's going to have to learn the hard way he can't win!

Ebay have now confirmed that the transaction is void, so all good.

Depends if he's paid for it.

If he has, the contract is made and he can either force you to sell or claim compo for breach of contract. It all depends how far he/she wants to push it.

I guess the question is, was the original listing in error. I think it went for 1.5k? If so, I'm not sure you could argue that case too well. A quick print off of pinpedia and you'd be forked.

Manny is the man behind WoodTECH (http://woodtech.co.uk/) known for stupendously top quality, super-shiny pinball restorations. Not to everyone's taste as it's all very heavy on the eye-dazzling chrome, but undoubtedly superb quality, so much so that some refer to achieving similar levels of polish and shine as "doing a Manny".

Anyone spot this yet? TERMINATOR 3 faulty/project: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151332098620 Might work out for the tinkerers among us. Current bid £5.50, 6d 22h to go...
