Today I worked on......

Today I decided it was a Me day and spent the whole day getting my list of jobs ticked off on my own pins for a change.

1. Install ColourDMD LCD ver in Mettalica to replace the LED one needed for TFTC.
2. Install aforementioned ColourDMD in TFTC which turned out to be a right long winded palava but well worth it.
3. Install Invisiglass and double oversize protectors in FT to go with the ColourDMD and mirror blades I fitted last night.

Spent the rest of the afternoon play-testing them and had @Chaggers call in for a few 2
Player games.

Me day part 2.

So striking while the iron was hot so to speak I spent last night drawing up my Metallica topper and today started knocking bits up see what works with my Met Skulls.
I didn’t want to go the typical laseriffic route of a single etched panel but wanted to add some depth in 4 layers +the highly detailed but extremely heavy sculpted skulls.
By lunch time this was V3 mock up precariously balanced on top!

Roll on several hours and many iterations later this is V6
I decided to make some metal letters with 2mm standoffs to give it a little added 3D effect and black out the unnecessary background.
This should contrast the graveyard nicely and help with the lighting.

Last thing I added some temp LED lighting to see how it looked and was kinda stoked with the effect.

Back at it tomorrow sorting logistics of designing the base to have access to the LED strips as I would like to make it interactive with the game with some @stumblor magic but I’ll drop that bombshell on him after the year so don’t mention it anyone.

I’ve a few Jobs to get out tomorrow but hopefully back at it once they off to postie.

Today I finished off upgrading my speakers on my Spike games. They are now officially Faux LEs :D.
Big shout out to @Colywobbles for supplying the plastics and plates. I got myself some Kenwood s1366 5.25in speakers. Sound improvement is very noticeable.

I did notice problems with the sound quality on GZ, but found out it was actually a dodgy connection with the cabinet sub woofer. It must of been like that for a while since it wasn’t screwed down properly when I got the game.

Next step on the list is to connect LEDs to the speakers. If anyone can help me out with step by step instructions for a Noob that would greatly be appreciated.

Spent a couple of hours working on AC/DC premium today. Took the lower pf off which was much easier than I anticipated. 4 screws and 6 or 7 quick disconnects. Fitted some target brackets, cleaned up the playfield window, changed a few bulbs and gave everything a clean with some Novus. Scrubbed up nicely!

Spent part of the day sitting through some of my slingshot spares.
I knew I had a left TFTC somewhere and it turns out I had 3 original NOS sets so win win as quite rare apparently.

Finished up rebuilding playfield on my Firepower. It's been stripped both sides and just the flippers left to do when I get the parts.

Today I worked on, or am still working on financing my next Pin :)

This site is awesome but it's making me do crazy things now that I will likely regret 😂 Just placed this lot on Instagram to get the feelers out from the guys I trust with sales and have dealt with before. I have not had the time to double check and go over everything as yet but when I do I will also post for sale on here, with prices. I know some of you people like some retro stuff and because the feedback and support on here is excellent it's only fair I list my items for sale on here also.

I’ve been working on improving my garage/workshop space since just after Christmas and today I think I’m 99% finished. I just need to buy a new upvc door and fit some door moulding around the internal door.

I originally built it in 2018 to restore a car. It was fine for that but not ideal for working on pins and arcade cabs. It was either an oven in the summer or an ice box in the winter so was really not useable for a lot of the year.

My plan was to block up roller door and windows, add more insulation and install new flooring and better heating. I installed 100mm insulation to the stud wall and roof and added a further 25mm with new plaster board to all the wall which already had 50mm insulation fitted.

The difference that stud wall and extra insulation has made is unbelievable. It now does not go below 10 degrees and that’s with no heating switched on and a crappy door. Before, if it was -1 outside it was the same inside as well.

Was thinking of doing the same with my double garage. Did the split garage doors with 25mm over xmas and sealed all around. with combination of rubber strips and the brush type stuff, its stopped all the draft. Prob cost about £280 all in.

As for walls and ceiling, the cost of insulation eg celotex now is 😭

Looks like a lovely workspace btw. Good to know it made so much difference without even doing the floor. 10c is good enough for pin storage without everything going rusty i should think?? whats the humidity like in there now?

It’s made a massive difference in there. When I say 10 degrees, that was when when the temperatures dropped to below zero a couple of weeks ago.

The good thing as well is when I switch the heaters on for an hour, the temperature gets to 20 degrees and then that heat now stays in the room for hours. When before the little heater I had would take hours to make a difference and then as soon as I turned it off, it was cold again.

I was losing all my heat through the roof, crappy single glazed windows and the large roller door. No issue with humidity or damp.

In regards to insulation, the cheapest I could find was from a company called Insulation Uk.

I wouldn’t go as low as 10 depending on how you plan to earn the games back up.
