The "How much is this table worth" thread....

My guess is £8k on ebay one. A lot of collectors still prefer the originals and CC is the rarest of the WPC95s

One of my favourites as lm a massive Western fan and the original was always too pricey so was straight in on the remake when announced. And at last it's landed.

Which will be available to all to play at TILT very shortly .

Entirely off topic but I’d love to see an ELO pin!

I honestly don't get why you'd pay 8k for an unfinished original CC when you could get a remake for that kind of money.

Surely it's a 6k game tops now, maybe a bit more with ColorDMD and continued code.

Because one is a copy and the other original.
One has imitation inners and the other is genuine.
A lot of people don’t want well made fakes others don’t mind.

Fakes? What a bizarre use of words 🤣. Cool if people want to pay over the odds for an unfinished game which wasn't that great more power to them!

There were lots of posts on this forum when MMr first came out confidently stating they would all be obsolete within 3-5 years as the boards were on the bottom of the playfields and were bound to fail.

Can’t say I’ve heard of that happening (although my sound chip needs to be regularly reset as it works loose)

Some people just don’t like remakes.

Remakes are certainly a step up in my opinion, but I would always take an original if given the choice.
Bizarre when you think about it!

In principle I agree with you - for the same money it seems sensible to go for the remake - but I do get why some people would pay as much for the original.

I think the main reason is that some collectors just have a strong preference for the originals, and the original is still a rare game. My dad falls into this camp, but then again I think he paid around £4k for his 15+ years ago.

Then, there’s CCC. It’s honestly excellent and at this point in time is the best version of the game, and it can’t be installed on the remakes. This may well change when CGC release their updated code, but at this moment in time there are no guarantees it will be better received.

I have both remake and original, both good, but remake is not accurate because the components are totally different in all areas.
Software is also totally different
Electronics are different

How more fake can you get ?

Still the new one is great fun and well made (so far)

I have seen zooms argument for fake Rolex,
But although the fake acts and looks the same , not a Rolex to me

Hi,

Hope this is the right place to ask. I’m looking for a first table and after many hours looking at options within my budget (under 4k) and what usually pops in here or eBay/Gumtre I was hoping someone could confirm me prices for a few 90s ones:

Data East Ninja Turtles
Data East Jurassic Park
Data East Simpsons
Data East Last Action Hero
Sega Baywatch
Gottlieb Gladiators (only one local)
Gottlieb Street Fighter
Williams The Getaway

Also any of them awful as a first pin? Taking any feedback. Only played Fish Tales on the PC, which usually goes under 4k but didn’t really like it. Kind of need to like the theme too.

Thanks!

Most remakes i have played don't feel the same as playing the originals. It's the same game but just doesn't feel the same. 1990s bally williams feel very solid compared to data east and the more modern Sterns. Its like the difference between driving a Peugeot or a Jag/bmw/merc.

Plus I don't really like leds as my eyes are too sensitive to the bright light. I much preferring incandescent which on a well cleaned and maintained game are perfectly fine.

I'd take a 1990s original bally williams over any remake. When I was looking for a mm I was only interested in original and happy to pay same price as for a remake.

All of those should be less than £3k in decent playable condition but for this age of machine as a first pin you should try to find one in great condition and that has been gone through completely by somebody knows what they are doing. There are a lot of hacked but "working" pins around of this age that are little more than projects. Paying a bit more for better will save in the longer run.

I think, unless you are going for mint machines these titles should be well within your budget, however some come up more often than others. I have a Getaway which, honestly, I'd say is a sub £3k game in the current market unless it's been fully restored.

If you can, try some out, you may find you like some more than others.

Exactly this, I love a problem and getting a soldering iron out to sort out disconnected wires is fun, but for a first game, be careful. Don't rush. Get help to check it over if you can.

From this list I’d strongly suggest going with either Jurassic Park, Baywatch or The Getaway. You should also be able to find a Getaway High Speed 2 in that price range.

From that list HS2 all the way. Baywatch underrated. Those data East ok but apart from JP a bit limited. Avoid gottlieb. Gladiator is one of the worst games ever .

Some guess work as the market for cheaper pins is soft… not that you’d necessarily find them for sale for this price; but this is personally what I’d be happy to pay given I think prices are going south still

Data East Ninja Turtles- £1.5k
Data East Jurassic Park- £2.5k
Data East Simpsons- £1.8k
Data East Last Action Hero £2k
Sega Baywatch £2.5k
Gottlieb Gladiators (only one local) £1.2k
Gottlieb Street Fighter- £1.5k
Williams The Getaway- £2k

Second @steve brum on the Getaway. Street Fighter is not my cup of tea despite loving the theme

To echo what others have said ….
Getaway is a classic .
Forget those Gottliebs.
JP and LAH are the better 2 of those DE titles.
Baywatch is one of Segas best. I’m a big fan. The only word of caution is it uses the LARGE display - which is great unless it fails/ outgasses then it is more expensive to replace than the regular common size display .So if going for that do ensure the display is good.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Didn’t expect so many replies this quickly! ❤️ May I ask what is so bad about Gladiators? Is it the gameplay or that is very prone to hardware issues? Kind of had my hopes up as is the first in ages to show locally under 2k.

Sadly don’t really know much the difference between a “working” and a fully restored, other than assuming that one with a ColorDMD would have seen some love.

If your budget is £4k I'd be looking for a

Spiderman
World Cup Soccer
Shadow
Creature from the Black Lagoon
Whitewater
Fish Tales

All will give you more longevity and better resale value than the ones you listed

Yes @machopixel if your budget is £4k and you aren't opposed to spending towards the top end this is a much better list of games to consider.

Gladiator terrible game play . I bought one once for £50 with no translite . I picked up a NOS translite off ebay for £16. £66 quid and still felt ripped off

Haha, thanks for the reference @JustLikeMe , understood!

No idea Spider-Man was in my budget, I also had White Water in my radar but didn’t wanted to write an endless list. It also looks like a lot of fun!

I know sometimes this tables show up in this forum at this price but by the time I see them there is already a queue of 4 people to buy them. Only the overpriced ones stay a bit longer and I’m trying to stay in the lower end of my budget. And every ad Facebook looks like a scam.

Spider-Man is a great game. White Water is one of my favourite machines of all time, and the only machine I’ve bought twice. I have 18 pins here at the moment and I still end up playing it more than most of them.

Regarding the working and fully restored conversation, this Baywatch on sale right now in the forum, what would more likely be of the two?

@machopixel from your list of games, The Getaway would be the one i’d go for. Great games and they made a tonne of them so they come up for sale regularly. You’re best to play them first though as not everyone has the same taste in games. I’m 30 mins from Glasgow and have a Getaway (not for sale though), Spiderman and a few others here. If you’re bored one weeknight and want to try them then you’re welcome to pop down to Ayrshire.

From the info in the post this looks like a nice working game, but definitely not a fully restored machine. Martin @gopinball knows his stuff so if he’s serviced it recently then it should all be working fine. Personally I think it’s a little expensive at £3.5k though.
