The "How much is this table worth" thread....

Sorry for the confusion. I allready own it.Paid £450 for it needing quite a bit of work electrically.Just wondered what it was worth now.
Great price for a Grand Lizard, enjoy getting it up and running.
Once it's fully working you are in for more than you paid out for it. Hopefully you will keep and enjoy it for a while.

Its been up and running for over a month now.Love playing it. Probably cost me around £50 in bits plus lots of time but
when you're retired, you have lots of time anyway.

A friend of mine did a house clearance last week and turned up a couple of pins.

They're working but I don't know to what extent as yet. I'm hoping to get over there at some point to check out the state of them and see what kind of condition they're in.

Anyone care to offer some rough ideas of what a Gottlieb Top Card and Playball might be worth? They're pretty old machines but he described them as in 'full working order'.

Grateful to hear any views on this. I've had a dig around online and they're not the sort of machines which turn up online that regularly from what I can make out.

Early 70's EM's so depending on condition anywhere up to £250 each I would say. I wouldn't want to pay more than £250 to £300 for any EM with only a few very specific exceptions. Main things to check are is it all there (if they're working then they should be) with the chime box being one of the things that gets robbed often, condition of the backglass, condition of the playfield and finally condition of plastics plus any other old unobtainium parts :)

Cheers Ron.

Rubbers have been stripped apparently as they had perished badly. I'm getting prices for replacement rubbers but i've told him i'll pop round and check them out at some point. I'll keep what you've put in mind though.

Possibly got this coming up to sell soon. Its a STTNG...however its a players condition machine. I'd say its been routed in the past and has some insert wear. All is fully worked and under playfield LED's. What do you think a price would be on this?

Hi all looking for a valuation on independence day, the machine playfield is in good condition no visible wear, cabinet fade to sides, also needs the ball sensor changing, Andy pinballmania is getting the part for me, still works fine as Andy adjusted the game settings for multiball to keep working, I noticed today there is 1 post missing, no broken plastic, all flippers feel strong, prob going to be looking for a trade for lw3 or sst, plus me putting extra cash, just was not sure how much extra cash to put, sorry for the long message thanks scott

I would say 800 max for an Independence Day - there was one up at Manchester Play Expo in October that didn't sell all weekend for 700ish.

Hi everyone,
I was fortunate enough to get a brand new DE Phantom Of The Opera back in 1990. It's never been on site, always been played in the house and is in fantastic condition. Apart from the odd scuff on the backbox the outside is is fantastic condition. Playfield is mint. The only downside is some paint peel on the backglass, not surprising for it's age. It's too drastic but it's there. It fired up today no problems, but I'm curious - I've heard this table is pretty rare is that right? Not that I will part with it but approx how much would it be worth today? If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
cheers

It's rare yes and to find one in excellent condition is even rarer.
I have one ,well two that I am making one nice machine from.
Price is hard to say as it has never had competition to compare a price with plus in excellent condition that will add to the price, the backglass will subtract from the price.
The last one to sell on eBay which was not in the best condition and also had plenty of issues sold for around £600 but you can't go off just one machine. More have got to come up to get a average price.
If it's as good as what you say and taking the backglass in consideration then I would say to me it's worth around £1200 to £1500.
That's only what I would say others will have a different opinion.

WOW - I hope you are ready for the deluge of messages trying to get you to part with it :D

Yes - relatively low production run , and for some reason pretty scarce in this country.

Tricky to put exact value on, as one in the condition you say yours is in just doesnt come up for sale.
The odd time they have popped up for sale on ebay, often in just average condition they seem to fetch 6/700+

I'd say a lovely HUO like yrs is gonna be *easily* 1 to 1.5K

You might want to consider sealing the backglass to minimise any further paint loss. Be a shame for it to get any worse .

Great thanks for the replies guys. The paintpeel isn't that bad really, but it's there, mainly on the black parts. The phantom's mask is relatively ok. I love this pin as it was my first so I'm probably being uber critical when it comes to the peel when it's probably not 'that' bad. Sealing is a fantastic idea, didn't think of that thanks! What would you recommend?

And no matter how much peeps offer, it's not going anywhere. I love it too much.

Lots of info here on sealing backglass using Krylon Triple Thick

Great to know it's not going anywhere.

Changing to LEDs in the backbox will help to as they run cool

I for one would love to see some pic's of the machine if its as good as what you say. Could you please get some close ups of the playfield, Cheers.
D.

It's currently nice and safe at my mum's house so I'll get some pics up, playfield included at the weekend. Leave it with me.

Thanks RudeDogg I was thinking about going down the LED trail. I'll try to get some pics up when I can.

Or use #47 lamps instead of the usual #44 - they are lower rated and give off less heat. If it uses bayonet lamps in the backbox, which I'm pretty sure it does.

I believe its changes in temperature which cause the paint loss issue. Where is the machine kept ?

After we moved house, it was stored in my mum's garage for a while, hence the paint peel. I know I know, I didn't know any better back then and shouldn't have kept it there. I've just been over there now and taken a shed load of pics. I'll post them asap.

How much approx is my TAF worth, it's in the shop log section , if you didn't know . Na I,m not thinking of selling it , I think I should pit it down on the house insurance as a named item , just I case . Here's a pic.

The longer you leave it in your conservatory. the less valuable it becomes.

Places with huge swings in temperature/humidity are pinball killers. Also is it in direct sunlight?
