Pinball sale dishonesty or laziness?

Really enjoyed both video's, Great work.

Sorry to hear you got royally shafted on the machine but at least its in very good hands now and will no doubt end up one of the better ones around from what I have seen in the vid.

I'm still learning about pins and improving my soldering but even mine isnt as bad as that on the transistor. What a bodge!

Why do people bodge up connectors? are they hard to get hold of?

I'd guess it's just sheer laziness - fuses ain't exactly hard to come by so if they're cutting corners like that then why would they care about something as 'trivial' as a connector.

I think i have a couple of pins with that earth braid cut in several places, still don't know why they did it..

I've been unlucky in the purchase but very lucky that Darren and Luke here can help on the stuff I can't handle ! Very much appreciated gents.

Not at the moment as the trap door mechanism has been removed as it is broken (suprise!) but I suspect it would have been fairly playable at this stage if the mechanism was not missing.

This one might just make it for the league meet!

Edit > Duplicate post with Luke. Four different orders of parts also awaited at moment as unable to source everything from one place.

One thing I've found is that the repro trunk doesn't fit snugly. Still a gap between the trunk and magnetic flap and just can't see a way of adjusting this. Small but annoying.

I hope never to have to polish metal parts with Scotch brite pads again.... they just never seem to end. Oh and I left my lamp on the playfield when tilting up and it fell back breaking the mirror. Great.

Great work there Luke.
Have you got time to take a look at my CPU off my Addams ?
Its a little hacked and in need of a little TLC.

With each video I get a pang of satisfaction as it comes together bit by bit.
When it's done this will be a really nice machine and whilst it's a shame it has these horrendous issues in the first place, it's slowly becoming unrecognisable from its original condition.

For shame on the seller, people can plead ignorance on the board problems if they want, but stuff like the Dmd lines, GI out and sound problems are obvious to anyone

Inspiring work guys. Keep going :)

To me, this sort of thing makes a machine more desirable, valuable and a keeper at the end of it all. Some great work and it has part of you in it if you know what I mean...

I got a replacement mirror from a plastics supplier. Just gave them the measurements and it came in at £15 including postage. Ping me a pm and I can give you their details if you wish.
Awesome videos too. I've been watching a few of your arcade machine fixes. Truly impressive knowledge!

Thanks but a replacement from Best of Pinball has just arrived. I'm not fitting it until the last job to avoid any further accidents...

ToM is looking pretty nice now, just waiting on a bloody washer from the US can you believe to fit the new trap door, some plastic protectors and the replacement ribbon cables (to hopefully sort the display). A few connectors to replace too and then hoping, fingers crossed this machine is there. :)

New ramps
New plastics
New flipper mechs
New target switches
New mirror
New legs
A load of replacement bits; coil sleeves, springs, bell armatures, jet bumper frame/caps, bulbs nuts and bolts etc. and three weeks of elbow grease...
