Pinball prices : Toy story the pin that’s about to cost us all!

and then there’s the people who splash £14-15k on a fully refurbed TAF or $15k on a pimped up 1980’s Bally SS. Each to their own it’s what makes this pinball world go around.
Spot on buddy a super minty ain’t my thing but for those who it is that’s great

The majority of this crazy hobby is ordinary folk with a sensibly priced, players condition machine or 3. Approx 10,000 machines in the UK, so the NIB and minty are just the “rolls royce” tip of the iceberg.

does anyone know what assets JJP have on this?

So they won't have Tom Hank's voice and hopefully they've paid his brother to do the voice overs ? What about music - will it be like Wonka with no freaking Candyman? "You don't have a friend in me because I was too tight to buy the rights to the music?" If they don't have Randy it will be a ****show of epic proportions.

TIm Allen is crucial also, the rest they can probably get away with paying students with bad crack habits a few dollars.

(how important Randy is - see below:)

I'm voicing Jose Mourinho & Harry Redknapp for an Amazon animation at the moment. I'm working with 3 VO artists/impressionists and I'm sure they can all mimic Tim Allen.

I've always been surprised how poor a lot of these call-outs on pinball machines are. It's not particularly expensive to hire competent VO people because there is never enough work and an abundance of artists.

Deadpool is decent enough and added to the humour it is excellent. Whoever did the English voices on MM & AFM clearly didn't practice for very long but it doesn't matter because it's genuinely funny.

Whoever did Champion Pub did a great job with the fighters voices too and there are many other well voiced games.

AIQ is an embarrassment though. Whoever voiced Hulk is really poor and the black order bloke in reality gem sounds like Borat 😂. They've clearly used the same guy on at least 4 of the voices and he just doesn't have the range.

So JJP don't need to hire Tim Allen. I'm sure Al Foran or Charlie Hopkinson would do all of the voices in a day for £2.5 k and nobody would ever know it wasn't the original cast.

I need you to call one of my sons the traitor Chelsea fan to wind him up🤣

I can possibly do it with the animation mate. I'll have to butter up the animator but he owes me for sending his misuss a naughty version of a Barry White song for Valentines 😂

The original Jurassic Park call out guy Stern got with the dodgy Aussie accent cracked me up. Why was he even Aussie in the first place?! Streuth the helicopter needs refuelling mate etc. Class

Agree that sound packages are sadly neglected in most cases. BK3 was great imho but most others Sterns the sound package is one of the weakest elements of the pin.

It's a shame because I think that sound is a crucial component of the pinball experience. Try playing a machine with the sound off!

whomever that is has made a re-appearance as Peter Griffen from the Family guy in Godzilla - sounds terrible.

Like so much else; you don't notice it until it is wrong, then it grates.
The sound quality on machines is absolutely appalling in general. Either badly executed or sounding like it was recorded on a cassette tape in 1997. With digital recording, half decent speakers and decent VO artist(s) there really is no excuse for not having clean, crisp professional sound. A half decent VO isn't exactly expensive (although the USA isn't exactly renowned for accurate accent VO work!)

"Cricky! Marry Powpins"

Credit where credit is due. Ghostbusters may be an apocalyptic turd of a pinball but they absolutely nailed the sound package
The content and quotes are good but it still sounded a bit 'muddy' - at least the one I heard did. I love a pin with vibrant sound. I'm now thinking TNA... hmmmmm, TNA

Yeah I think mine sounded a bit naff in terms of audio quality. Weird, it'd be very out of character for Stern to cut corners with hardware 😂

There's a good story there.

Disney hired a bloke from Bolton to teach DVD how to speak Cockney 😂
Seriously.

I heard an interview with him some years back and he actually wasn't too bad.

He said it wasn't until he visited the set of Bedknobbs & Broomsticks to visit his old pal David Tomlinson that he realised how bad his cockney chimneysweep accent was. He was listening to Ian Weighill (who had an extraordinary voice in a cockney dialect which unfortunately has completely disappeared in the modern day) read his lines and whispered to Tomlinson, "I think I may have made a bit of an error on Mary Poppins". 😂

Yeah, a Bolton cockney sounds about right if you think about it. I just tried a cockney accent with a bit of a Bolton twist and quickly ended up with a convincing Disney Dick Van-Dyke Chimney sweep...

So Marvel provided the voices for AIQ - the voices are from other Marvel productions

Sorry but the two lead characters absolutely need to be in the game, one we know won't be so maybe its not such a big deal but thats a **** show.

Hopefully they won't have bought the audio and video separately like Wonka.

Art is amazing also..
I can see why Sigourney Weaver didn’t want anything to do with Alien though. ZY made her look like Jimmy Hill in GB.
Along with VO work, some of the backglass artwork is equally poor. I have seen some pretty shocking likenesses on machines. Again; find a decent artist, they are not exactly expensive. These days you could probably put an ad on 'Fiverr' and get something better. All you have to do is put a collage together and use it as a reference for an artist to copy.

Even a young Jeremy Clarkson appeared on Congo 🤣🤣

I'm not saying the two main characters shouldn't be in the game, Woody & Buzz absolutely have to be. My point is that an impersonator like Al Foran, Charlie Hopkinson or Scheiffer Bates could mimic them and nobody playing the machine would even notice it wasn't Hanks or Allen.

if you are walking up to a game and sticking a pound in it for sure I agree - but if you want the world under glass and pinball moments experience and you’ve decided to fork out £15K the I couldn’t disagree more - oh that to infinity and beyond multiball where he fires balls out of the laser cannon is so good spoiled by some Chicago twonk who thinks he can do Tim Allen. No way.

in my view this would be a crime as bad as getting a three year old with hand paints to do the artwork.

The original cast doing the voices on STTNG is one of the things that make it a good experience and I’m not even a fan of the show.

'THANK YOU MR DATA'

So good. Elite theme, perfectly executed.
It's not a certainty or anything and there has to be a possibility I'll randomly buy another NIB...

Called Phil about GZ earlier 😂. Fortunately he doesn't have any at the minute
