So fitted topper, a tad pointless without the ability to light it up.

Used a saw-bit, and it nearly burnt the shed down (well it got hot and smelled of burning) even though I took it really slowly! So don't use saw bits...

Should have done what folks said go from top then bottom as the inside looks like this.

I'm not bothered as I will paint it in black and will not see it.

Also the speaker lights will always be blue until that board shows up also.

Well that's 10 min of my life i'll never get back but i have enjoyed so much reading about the various drill bits. I am calling for a review panel to be assembled to decide which bit gave the nicest hole!

The topper looks great!

A hole saw should be absolutely fine (when started from both sides), but the key thing is that they have no way to shed the waste material and so you need to clean them out literally every 1 or 2 mm of depth. You can just withdraw them from the hole and brush off the teeth to clear the waste then keep going another couple of mm, otherwise you'll just end up grinding all the sawdust around the cut section, which will dull the teeth of the cutter and scorch the wood.

Thanks Ben,

Yeah I did that every mm or so I vacuumed the bit and the hole (as did not want sawdust everywhere) the carried on slowly but it did get pretty hot, should have used the spade bit I think, oh well done now.

Just waiting for the GI kit...

Still the ultimate thing is the big screen - colordmd should develop something like this......

In the VP world we use a 14.9 inch screen (the CGC is a 18.9 inch but a lot is hidden!) so that is half way between a standard DMD and the visible area on the CGC one. Anyway - going off at tangents.....

Looking forward to getting my XLDMD and GI kit. Not done the topper.
