JJP GNR Pinball

I'm a bit of a rules dork even though I'm a million miles from being a good player. That said I can have an absolute blast owning a simpler game. Sopranos got absolutely caned when I had it, so much fun. Equally, something much more layered like Maiden was ridiculously good in my eyes and really I didn't want to sell either. I don't think I exactly have a type when it comes to pins, some just click more than others and it can depend what mood I'm in, or indeed how much cider I've consumed. One smaller thing, I tend to prefer a shorter ball time tough game to a sprawling journey type bore.

Neil, you are not forced to read this thread nor are you going to save any of us from buying something that would be a mistake.
Anyone willing to drop this sort of money on a pin is likely to own many machines and my favourite is unlikely to be yours so live and let live.
Or “Live and let die”.

I mean is none of us can speak definitively about the game so three months of anal speculation etc :)

I know you are a tournament player Neil and love that side of pinball and will probably prefer AIQ over GnR and It’s the rules/scoring that floats your boat but when your GnR arrives I bet you can’t deny that you will enjoy playing and standing over GnR as a fun experience 2nd to none. What most of the pinside need to do is go play one and make their own minds up. I love my FG it’s everything and more I want out of a pin hence my R&M purchase incoming but to many FG is absolute crap pin. Marmite yet again.

Food for though look at the bad press BKSOR got I ignored it all waited to an LE came up and jumped on it And I’m so glad I did. SThings is starting to get love regardless of the bad press so it pays to wait and make your own mind up.

Oh agree Colin - anyone deploying 10K on anything without trying it is probably crazy. With the exception of munsters, turtles and avengers pretty much every game I’ve bought I’ve played before. I’d have played these games also if it wasn’t for this virus.

Ahhh bless I hope it’s not a baby yoda bash toy in the style of groot. That’s just not on.
However if he lifts his hand and uses the force to move the balls via hidden magnets then I’m in.

That would be Awesome! Probably a bit early, given it’s only been one season.
 
If Stern bring out a rock pin this year it runs a real risk of sinking like a stone.

regardless of how good gameplay is JJP have hype on their side with GnR. Even If zeppelin comes out there is only so much money in people’s pocket.

Love or hate the Guy he is a superb front man for Queen and appreciates the fact most Queen fans have embraced him into the Queen family.
I think if Freddy was still alive he would be right up Adam’s street.
well his Cadbury Alley anyway :rofl:
 
I would be selling another machine if it was a Queen pin, done with the sort of assets that JJP have done GnR with. But if it was anything other than a Queen with Freddie at the helm then I’m afraid I’m out.
Consider myself a big Queen fan, but after the tribute concert that should have been it, unless they wanted to release old tracks that they had done with Freddie.
John had the right idea with saying no thanks I’m out.
 
Imagine if we finally get Back to the Future and they Ghostbusters it up. That'll be the biggest crime to pinball since Predator

I know you have and quite early on.
I like the banter on this site and glad we have it but it feels like you more than most seem to compare GnR to others like Avengers as though our choice is to buy one or the other.
Sure, we can’t play it yet but we can like what we see on videos and that isn’t speculation let alone from ones posteria.
Plus, if anyone did play it, I would want to know what other games turn them on or off because we do not all like the same game. One mans Popeye is another mans Medieval Madness.
When yours arrive, I hope you will let me come over and play it and Avengers and properly compare. :)
 
I'm not trying to tell anyone what to buy just noting that the code looks thin on GNR.

I wish lived near I’d offer my services FOC at Neil’s whether it’s waxing pins or cleaning the **** house as long as I could play his pins it would save me a hell of a lot of money so win win.
in fact with the money I could get off my large 4 bed detached with double garage I may be able to get a 1 bed flat 👍

You never know Neil..... People will go with the money. If Virgin media offered you a great package, you would swap jobs. Everyone has a price.

Code will get improved. Remember WoZ and Dialed in have been vastly improved since original release. Can not comment on Pirates or Wonka.

Stern have released one game in the last few years with V1 code and that was Turtles.
 
It's great to have healthy competition plus the fact that so many new titles are being released in the current climate is fantastic.

Why do some pinheads not get this and choose to be negative? 🤷‍♂️ If you prefer one game to another, good for you. There's no need to slate pins. One mans Steps is another mans Beatles. Or something.

Just thought I would level the field 😂

So, I just got back from the cointaker pinball bash. I got a chance to play GnR for nearly 7 hours. I also got the GC score for the entire day.
If you don’t know anything about me, I am death save arcade on twitch. I have probably owned about 60+ games in the last 4 years alone. To include nearly every lcd stern, every JJP, most more than once, two aliens, a big lebowski and lots of the cool top 90’s games.
Anyways, all I can say is, this game may very well be the most fun I have ever had playing pinball, ever.
The entire experience is innovative, immersive, exciting, fun, fast, and just complete. It has everything pinball machines should have and gives a feeling or something I didn’t even know a pinball machine could.
To anyone buying this game or that is getting one.... get excited. This game is just......on another level.
