Huge couple of weekends ahead for Tournament Pinball with the EPC this weekend in Warsaw, then the UK Open the following weekend.

At the EPC, a massive 256 competitors will take part, hoping to dethrone Escher Lefkoff. Other world top 20 contenders playing include Arvid Flygare, Viggo Lowgren, Timber Engelbeen, Paul Englert, Cayle George and Peter Andersen. From the GB side we have a massive 16 people attending (I don't know my history - but possibly the most ever?) which will be fantastic.

Main comp is 16 groups of 16, in 15 games of H2H matchplay - half the field will qualify with 2 byes for positions 1 and 2 and one bye for positions 3 and 4. There will also be a classics comp and pingolf.

Further updates etc to be posted on this thread.

If you are interested in joining in next year - dates have already been released for Austria 2025:

28th May - 1st June 2025.

The top ten UK places get reserved spots (if they elect to take them) but then it is first come first served so anyone can take part who wants to. Put it in your diaries - be great to get even more people involved next year.

A streaming link will also be provided once known for this year's comp.

EPC starts this morning! Group qualifying standings will be available on next.matchplay.events (search for EPC24)

In group A very soon we have Dan Pocklington vs Arvid Flygare... it is going to be a great day!

No streaming link yet but will update if we find it :)

Really hoping there will be a stream, you can do it 👍.

For anyone who hasn’t read it, the finals situation for the main tournament is:

- Top 7 in each group of 16 plus the 16 best scorers outside the top 7 qualify (so 128 total)
- 1st and 2nd in each group get 2 byes (guaranteed top 64)
- 3rd and 4th in each group get 1 bye (guaranteed top 96)
- All finals matches are head-to-head best of 5.

- Josh won his group with an outrageous 14/15 and gets two byes.
- In the same group, Claire finished 9th with 7 points.
- DPock qualified by coming 6th in his group, with 10 points.
- Steve and Gareth came 12th and 15th in their group, respectively.

The next round of groups is kicking off. We have Gene in group F (feat. Viggo Lowgren):

Yuen and David Dutton in group G:

Roy Smith in group H:

And finally, Craig in group J:

Great performances.

Is there no streaming (nothing posted on here, and I can't find a link via Google)?

The classics format is:

- The field is divided into three groups (S1-3, corresponding with their time slots for the main qualifying).

- 8 rounds of 4 player matchplay 7/5/3/1

- Top 22 in S1 and S3 and top 26 in S2 plus 10 best scorers outside those placings advance (80 advance). 1st-4th in each group get two byes, 5th-8th get one bye. Finals are head-to-head best of five.

S3 went this morning, William Jarvis came =5th and got a bye. Ryan Pullen came =8th but can’t see if he got a bye on tiebreak or not. Jeremy Dorling came =21st, likewise can’t see whether he made it through on tiebreak or not. Pete Blakemore came =27th, Jim King =73rd and Alan Irving =78th. Apologies if I’ve missed anybody.

S1 is underway now and DPock and Josh have both made decent starts and are sat in qualifying positions (or tied for) at the time of writing:

Maybe they'll only start streaming after they get past the group stage format? Will be a shame if there's none for the event.
Appreciate all the updates being posted in here, will try and keep my eye on things over the weekend

Update for day 1:

Tremendous day for Will: main (1 or 2 byes), and 1 bye in classics

Ryan also played outstandingly qualifying with 1 bye in main and qualified for classics

Dpock also qualified in both - beating the 2022 European Champion Arvid Flygare in his H2H qualifying match. Someone get his BBC interview ready!

Josh topped his group with an immense 14 wins out of 15 for a double bye in main

I did enough to qualify in both, sneaking into classics playoffs after a terrible start but 4 straight wins to finish

Craig is in a playoff for main qualification

Jeremy is in a playoff for main and classics

Peter has qualified in main

Team tournament starts shortly:

Featuring Craig, Josh, Jeremy and myself
