Concert/gig attending thread.....

I’m going to see Slash with the boy in Wembley but have you heard the latest Slash single? Doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence about the gig. I’m hoping it’s not going to end up being 90 mins of blues noodling 😱.

Also if anyone out there likes Lacuna Coil I stupidly bought two tickets to the London gig and then discovered it clashes with my father in laws 80th birthday. Drop me a PM and you can have then for free rather than then going to waste.

Fast Show/Bristol

My head still hurts from laughing so hard.
A mixture of how the show came into being, some iconic sketches some new sketches and a touching tribute to Caroline Aherne.
Dave Angel (eco warrior) is not overly impressed by the new craft beers
‘if it’s over 6 quid and there’s a cartoon on the can, bin it’

Age is a strange thing. I remember the Wurzel’s back in the late 70s and thinking they were ancient then. Were they really actually only in their 30s?

I spent last weekend at Bearded Theory with my daughter. I saw plenty of great new acts (new to me anyway) Bob Vylan, Wargasm, Lambrini Girls, Amyl and the Sniffers and loads more. There were some belting sets from some of the old guard too, highlights being Orbital, The Orb, Stereo MCs and Sleaford Mods. I spent a fair bit of time on the smaller tents (which probably explains the damn COVID I’m now in bed with) and saw some great up and coming acts.

Edit: also great sets from Therapy?, Beans on Toast and a really funny Ed Tudor Pole.

I then saw Robin Trower on Tuesday who played like we were back in the 70s. What an absolute virtuoso he still is.

I’m due to see Seasick Steve in Kingston on Thursday but keep an eye out for a couple of tickets up for grabs if I can’t shake this damn COVID.

Good to hear Robin Tower has still got it. Was in good form in Cardiff ten years ago, but believed he had health issues

He looked really well and seemed to really enjoy ever second of it.

Are there any other guitarists who tour under their own name but don’t sing?

The bassist was very good actually, sounded just like the records from BITDIMG_5684.jpeg

I know it uses less energy but I do miss the old incandescent stage lights. All these purples and blues look pretty crappy on stage, like when people first started using 1st gen LEDs in pins!

Saw Liam Gallagher on his Definitely Maybe tour last night. Was brilliant and probably the closest I’ll ever get to an Oasis gig!

I’m at Pryzm in Kingston to see Seasick Steve tonight. Should be a good one as it’s a nice tight little venue. Much better than when I last saw him at Wembley Arena.

I guess he’d prefer Wembley though, lol.

Saw him at Wychwood in Cheltenham last weekend - not someone I'd really been aware of but he was great!

Lambrini Giris are from Brighton / been tearing up venues here for a few years . 😁

Amy and The Sniffers are brilliant live. She is an absolute star . Saw them at last years Green Man , had to chuckle at the fruity language coming from them as families with small kids looked on

Snayx are another great up and coming Brighton band. It’s quite the hotbed of talent down there atm.
