Clearly Pinball Info doesn't support UK Pinball Businesses

Long time member of this forum but don’t come here very often and even I know you got to be a site supporter to sell things

My two cents, as a relative newbie.

I don't understand why Mr Tilt thought Paul would contact him about it. When really we all know the rules regarding being a Site Supporter. Surely he knew the rules as a long time member?

Rules are rules and you shouldn't be waiting or expecting someone else to come to you to point them out

Without getting stuck into the detail, this is Paul's board, he makes the rules, if you stick to them then no problem.
I know FB has a 30 day ban, which is a bit of a cooling off mechanism, rather than a cliff edge outright ban, it is very black and white here, but again i do not make the rules.
Like anything in life play by the rules, and you get no grief.
For me, i enjoy this space, and i would expect an admin to wag their finger at me either PM or point out an inappropriate post, should i digress before breaking out the ban hammer.

Unfortunately this place needs moderating.

I don’t agree that posts should just be deleted without letting the op know it’s happened and the reason why?

Even if the op has broken the rules before and has been previously reprimanded, i would still expect the common decency of a message to inform them of another issue, and the post is being removed.

Never used to.

Ah, those fleeting periods of community harmony on boards... they never last. If you don't have new people coming in, these communities just die off as people drift away. The inevitable churn of members means eventually, you get mixes of people that result in personality conflicts, 100% guaranteed. And that's just the "good" members...

Rules are rules.
I also recall Tilt querying what happens to the left over forum donation cash.:tut:
I remember thinking at the time how crass this was.

I don’t have a dog in this fight but I will say that I find the OP’s posts quite puzzling. Not just on here, but generally.

I don’t think I’ve seen one contribution from them on a thread that hasn’t been antagonising or just overtly negative or blunt, either against someone personally, or a group. I get that it takes all sorts and some people’s dispositions are just different, but it always did stand out to me.

Then you have this thread, and the deleted ones. Being coy about awareness of the rules, expecting to have to be told explicitly something is against them even though it ought to be obvious (and I’d argue was obvious), etc. I don’t doubt that this “personal touch” would’ve also been met with antagonism and faux outrage, as well, so it’s disingenuous imo to say “if you’d just spoken to me I would’ve been happy”.

I also find it weird - but again in keeping with the OP’s posts generally - that they would seek to antagonise the people that run the site? And overtly suggest that they are profiteering from it, without any actual insight, or frankly any right whatsoever to dictate how much profit (if it existed) it should make. And going as far as to say that they would contribute £10 to a charity rather than @Paul, inferring that it would just go in his pocket otherwise... which is nice.

Why would someone even want to use or be a part a community that they have such a derisory opinion of? That goes for the members too - we’re apparently somehow both inconsequential to their business but vital enough to subvert the rules to target? Very strange.

I do also think there is a tendency for (some) people to disregard the effort and cost involved in building and running a forum, either because they’re just used to everything they use online being free, or whatever. I’m afraid the reality is that they can be all consuming, and even unhealthy, as you can easily end up feeling like you have an obligation to maintain it, even at your own expense in money and time. It is usually always a thankless task, certainly not helped by people making it harder and insinuating that you’re creaming money off the top etc.

There’s no winners in this and it is frankly incredible that it’s all over £10, although I suspect it was always about more than that.
