Probably one of the best code packages in pinball and theme integration is insanely good, Lyman absolutely nailed it with little things like the bat pole, bat cave, 2x playfield shot sequence that makes you feel like your playing through an episode of the show.

Batmans only weakness is the shots, I loved everything about my LE except the shots and it’s annoying they never managed to get the Villian Vision feature that was advertised and used to advertise/sell the games implemented, that would have been an awesome feature.

What was the Villian Vision?
Originally the mini tv set on the turntable was supposed to be an interactive feature between the player and the game. The screen was going to display the villains taunting you throughout modes, if you played badly etc.

Unfortunately it was scrapped when Lyman scrapped the code about 6 months in, it was the reason for the initial code delays at release and why it remained a “box of lights”.

Lyman wasn’t feeling/happy with the direction of the code so scrapped it and started over leading to the awesome code we ended up with but lacking that key feature because they couldn’t get it to work correctly, so it ended up how it is now pretty pointless, probably due to the Spike system limitations/lack of power.

I got one of the later run BM66s.
Loved watching as a kid in early 70s.
Total nostalgia and yeah, Lyman is great.
Very easy to follow code, I kinda like the shots TBH.
Brace for Bat turn animations cracks me up every time.
Remember Chris B was selling that SLE advertised at 12k… pff what a bargain now 😬

I love my BM66 - it’s my first and only pin and couldn’t be happier with the choice. Im now realising there’s some maintenance to be done in a few key areas to get the game playing perfectly, it’s already pretty well dialled in, but I want it to be perfect.

Looking for any advice or pointers on the following as there’s some fairly big mechs (the turntable motor in particular) that I need to mess with.

- turntable is nearly flat but not exactly, I’ve tried to level it but it still produces air balls on rebound from Joker and Batphone. The issue seems to be that the platter is not only not level, but not central and this doesn’t look too easy to pull to bits.

- Batcave spinner with the Batmobile on top used to spin freely and always return to centre. Now it stops half way, leaving the posts in the way of the centre shot. It would seem this is deep beneath the main mech, but my question is can it be serviced from the screws at the top? What would one do to make it spin better? I can’t imagine using too much oil / lubricant is the right thing in a pinball machine.

- return from left hand orbit hits the top of the slings 90% of the time, which makes for inconsistent gameplay. I’ve played the BM66 at Pinball republic and this returns to flippers nearly every time. I think I just need to bend the metal guide out ever so slightly, like probably less than a mm would do it - does that sound like a good idea?

- ball launch can be very inconsistent and get snagged at the top of the orbit when going for the left flipper held super skill shot. The ball seems to rattle a bit on launch, the machine at PBR also does this but I’m not sure if it’s set up wrong or if it’s just a BM66 thing. So this is about correct setting of plunger and also any knowledge about that diverter flap / post at the very top centre of the orbit. It looks like if you moved it slightly to make it flush, the lane would be smooth and there would be no snag, but I don’t know if this is something that can be done.

One last thing - I’ve heard this phrase “juicing spinners” what do you use on the spinner to get it to move super freely?

Thanks in advance for any advice on any of these things. As I’m getting more into pinball, playing better and learning more, the importance of a well set up game is more apparent.

Look at the post 1 up from the bottom 👍

As far as the orbit return hitting the slings - check the pin is level (side to side) first. If it is, remove the plastic above the guide, there’ll be a screw at the end of the orbit guide, manipulate the guide out slightly & tighten screw (then test before replacing plastic)

juice spinners: clean, align, get switch gap and action as light as possible, polish, lube if you want to. it’s about getting the action as smooth as possible.

turntable easily adjusts - 3 nuts if i remember to level. takes some trial and error. there may be other alignments you can make. the manual might help?
