All aboard for the James Bond 007 Hype train!

Back on topic.

Joe K who owns Kapow is a huge Bond fan and is working on a very special (non pinball) 007 related project that will be revealed soon. I believe that the current view of Pro, Premium and LE might not be the full story and some special editions may be on the cards!

Is that something that happens in pinball, you get special editions on top of Premiums and LE's?
Or are there like after market special editions approved by the official licenced company?
 
It hasn’t happened too often recently but in the past there was Avengers Hulk LE, Xmen Wolverine LE and the one to have Xmen Magneto LE. There was Batman 66 cat woman edition, Elvira 40 year edition, Beatles had special editions also. JJP has about a 1000 different editions of WoZ.

everything from a license typically needs the IP owner to approve it. Joe K licenses a lot of stuff for his company that makes slot machines and other Las Vegas type stuff, this is how Batman ‘66 came about.

Well if its based on one movie, they may be thinking that they could release one with every film. Seems too frequent to me though. It would lessen the appeal.
 
Just to say in the next 10 years Stern/JJP will make one of these:
Prince, Motley Crue, Van Halen, Def Leppard, The Lion King, Harry Potter, Frozen, Minions, Captain America, Alice in Wonderland, Foo Fighters, ZZ Top, Abba, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Hendrix, The Who, Fleetwood Mac......

I will refer everyone back to this when it happens....

A thought on the james bond game and possible rules...

What i want to see is the full set of bond films and also the full set of bond incarnations. Complete all bond films to get to the final wizard mode, sort of like indy jones. But also where choosing a specific bond helps you in certain modes, specifically the ones you starred in but also others. Like the jjp potc characters, and or stern star wars.

Also, some sort of upgrades to buy like mandolorian to when you visit Q. ball save, extra time, shots spotted etc, x2 scoring, no of shots needed reduced etc etc

If stern just base it on the latest single film with craig plastered all over it then i'm gonna be disappointed...

I am very sure it’s not about the last movie. It’s based on early films - the key thing for me is who is on code - and im hoping it’s Tanio rather than any of the other coders.
 
Whilst the official/permanent Bond thread is locked pending an investigation into general naughtiness we've been denied some Bond chat.

So. . . who's in for one?

I am pending the release video. Gomez is my favourite designer and James Bond is my favourite English spy with a Scottish accent and I like swimming trunks so it's a dream theme for me.

I love an Aston Martin too but can't quite bring myself to sell the ford transit so drive that instead.

Something has got to go from my collection and it will be MB (no DM's please because it's been offered back to it's previous owner and even then there are 2 in line).

Does anyone know when the proper release video will be out?
 
Pretty sure it's Tuesday when they do the reveal at IAAPA.

I could be tempted. Although as with you, I think one has to go from my collection first. I've purchased NIB Spooky and JJP. Never NIB Stern.
 
For me, i would really want to road test it first, yes i know the theme is great, but gameplay does count (even if i am a rubbish player myself), it is all very nice to have a 17k twinkly light machine in the corner, but it deserves to be played. Guess i will miss out on the top of the range LE, but hey, i will have to hang on to the glimmer of hope that BTTF is the "one" grail theme i hunger after, even though i am a Bond fanboy through and through.
 
Interesting to see the video hopefully it’s stunning and has some great mechs just glad to finally see a new pin to be fair (no toy story jokes thank you 🤪)

I'm banking on Gomez coming up with some good shots . . . . he does finish a game (Callouts, shots, theme, screen etc) so if it's anything like Batman66, Deadpool, LOTR or Monster Bash it's going to be great.

I would like the facility to incorporate my own terrible Sean Connery impression into the call-outs though because I fear that Stern will not deliver my 'Pushhy Galore multiball' 🤬

In my brief (see what I did there) time in pinball I have come to realise that the theme is secondary to gameplay. It seems far more important on modern games. I think that’s because nobody wants to spend good money on a turkey. It’s easy to look up time-worn reviews on most older games. With nib it’s almost a lucky dip
