3D Printers

Let's not go down rhe same route as a pinball pre-launch. 🤣

I.e. It's the best thing ever, it's the worst thing ever, it's too pricey, etc.

Looking forward to seeing what's it capabilities are. I can't think of anything I want more from a machine, other than possibly a larger print bed. ALWAYS need a larger print bed.

Well yeah - im still curious/interested. I kinda miss the 300x300x400 of my CR10 (I say I miss it - still got it.. I should probably get rid of it - not used it since my Bambu turned up :) )

Im also feeling the urge to buy a 2th P1S - not even sure why - so I can print 2x as much plastic nonsense and not know what to do with :)

OMG!!

Hey folks. Would anyone be interested in helping me with a mini project? I have a Hobbit standard, and I want to add the barrels to the pop bumpers that are in the LE (you can just about see them top right of the picture attached). I can buy all the parts except for the mounting plate (shown in the parts diagram attached). It sits on top of hex spacers coming from the top of the bumper rods, and the barrel sculptures screw into it. It's not available as a spare anywhere, so I wondered if 3d printing might be a good option? If so, in exchange for beer tokens, could someone make two for me? (I'd ship you the parts so you have the mesaurements)
TIA

Is the original a plastic type part or a metal plate with threaded screw holes? In both cases 3d printing should be possible, but if the latter then would need to try self tappers or use threaded inserts. If you don't get any other offers then I'll give it a try if you dm me.

Thanks! I suspect it would be metal, but never seen one so not 100% As far as I can tell, the screws go into the sculpture, not into the base plate. I'll get the parts in, DM you when they arrive.

No problem. I presume it's item 4 in the diagram in which case I agree the screws seem to run through it rather than terminating in it. Looks like it has a couple of vertical tabs that fit into it or are part of it for the item 7 screws.

Extremely tempted by the H2D (without the laser) combo. Much cheaper than I expected at 'only' £1,849

Not bad pricing at all.

Got to say I'm tempted by ones with the laser module. I'd been fancying a laser/cutter engraver anyway. I'm loving my Prusa XL, but it might have to go to make way for a combo printer/laser cutter.

I did ponder recently getting another p1s - which is currently £500 on the bambu store.
When I saw £1600 I thought "coooo". But then realised thats w/o the laser deelie.
I mean £1600 isn't out of the way - but when you add the AMS its 1900. (Though I gather the original AMS is compatible).
When you add the 10W laser module it jumps to 2400 though. And its 2900 with the 40w one. (And of course not currently available :) )

Whilst I don't think this is a crazy price - a laser cutter is that much on its own its quite a jump from £1600 to £3000 if you want the spangly laser model.

I might still be tempted anyway if you can add the laser bit down the line but I cant see that anywhere. (Thats probably just me not looking properly).

you can add the laser and cutting components further down the line, but not yet.
I recently bought a foxalien CNC machine with the cutter and a 40 watt laser, given the smoke and debris, I am not sure I want that in my 3D printer.
The external pump/filter is an additional £540+ !

I think they way to go is definitely just as a printer for now- who knows what issues they'll have in the future, let somebody else deal with those first (rather like holding back on an LE, and buying a prem).

Not just because it's only the combo which is ready to ship now

The new AMS looks like a significant improvement, and is £300 as a stand alone unit - same as the original AMS until very recently.
