Who Fancies a New MM?

I knew it. Too many reputable people knew for years this was going to happen. Now how the hell do I get my hands on a preorder before they all go?

Surely if they manage to shift the lot then it potentially means another run in the future or even other popular tables being re-released?

Or is this a final, final run? ;)

Interesting might consider putting my name down for one but £7k? $7995 converts to £4950 but suppose there is the governments slice as well, import duty and tax/vat!!

Amazing if all sell out soon, that is $8 million - wonder what impact this will have on other pinball companies?

It's proven and unproven all in one. No W logo is a bit crap and the new system may or may not be reliable. I like that they are using Churchill for the playfields and cabs

Bear in mind there is no development or programming costs and they must be turning a pretty profit on each machine

How long before we start seeing the original MMs showing up on eBay as people start worrying about getting the best value for their original machine? Surely with these new ones at this price the days of £5k refurbed machines must be numbered......

£5k re-furbs, wasn't it more like £6k to £8k by some sellers?

So will the price of the originals drop or increase?

£6-7k from what they have been selling for. Given the choice if take a new one at £7k if im honest

I sold my 1st MM (for a loss!) because I was worried about it becoming worth a lot less when Wayne announced his remake (and I had ordered) at around £7k I don't think this will impact MM prices too much over here to be honest.

Totally agree with this. Maybe a small drop but nothing major. Its our American friends that will see the huge drops as prices for MM have reached insane levels over there in the last couple of years.

IMO purists will still pay big for originals. Much like many things that are remade from classics the 'new breed' only tends to relight the fire and price of the original stock.
If I were buying I would probably go remake but the more museum like collectors I would imagine would not.

But the trouble with this is that as MM got so valuable it became a prime target for high end restores. So many of the originals are really not original any more. New playfields, new cab decals etc.

They said they will not make any more MM LE games but didn't rule out a run or runs of regular MMs or AFM or ...

Interesting times!

Bought mine about 4 or 5 year ago for £3200,sold it about 2 year later for the same (buy it now on eBay),went within a few hours, this is amazing news and may get the chance to own one again!!!

Wonder how much faster, better a new MM will play as that star trek was insanely quick

Mixed feelings about this. Suspect 1000 will sell out quickly. If it was £5k I'd be tempted, for £7k I'm not. I'd rather try a brand new machine. Will it increase or suppress current prices? I've got no idea. More than 1000 would probably have had a negative impact and hopefully would have had a knock off effect on other games as less "investors" would be tempted to stick money on AFM etc.

It's got to be good in the short run that more machines are being made (ST, Hobbit, MM, Predator etc) as all this gives us better choice. However, I wonder what the long term impact will be? I doubt many (if any) of these titles are going to be bought by operators, so is the home market going to be saturated? We're in a mini-boom at the moment, will this feed into it or saturate it? Mulling it over I suspect the big losers will be titles such as WOZ/Avengers /ST etc. Machines that are currently still in production but will end up selling less than otherwise as people pump for new machines (I'd also stick the Hobbit in this bracket given it's initial pre-sales).

This could have a major impact on both Stern and JJP. Assuming that all the up front costs have been recouped from earlier sales then if each additional sale nets them about 3k (totally made up figure) a drop of 1000 units would be £3m lost revenue

Surprised there's been little speculation on the release date etc. If Wayne was unable to follow through on the build then why will this new company be able to? (I don't know anything about them but have they built a machine before?)

Anyway good luck to anyone buying a remake, Hope it's great and what does it mean you'll be selling to fund the purchase?;)

After months of mulling it over, I'd finally decided to put a deposit down for a Hobbit, was going to do it next week.

Now I've gone for the MM instead. I really want a NIB, but obviously it's a bit of a gamble with the Hobbit. So MM LE is a double whammy for me..NIB and proven game.

Concerned about the price though, how come WOZ retails for $8k and sells for £6k over here - MM LE will also be $8k but selling over here for approx £6.5k. Where'd the extra £500 come from???

Woz was $7500 until recently.

$8000 = £5000 at current exchange rate.

+20% vat = £6000

+ shipping, customs, warranty and dealer mark up = £7000
