Where to buy a NIB?

Here's another question - Ask them if you could collect and pay cash on collection (what that would do to the price and how it would affect the warranty).....

At least that way they must have them in stock... well.. you would like to think! :D

If you are taking the risk of going with this because of the price don’t pay with a bank transfer to whoever has sent you this email. I’d double check the email address with the one on their website and only pay with something you can claim back your money, check your credit card info and what rights you have.

also expect their inbox to be full now with pinball info queries 😂

If there is such a huge demand, we should do a group purchase with PH! Everyone says they are the best, let's make sure they can get economy of scale then!

Well, let's see how it goes. Thank you everyone for your insights.

I don’t know when you contacted Electrocoin but I do not see Games Room Company listed on their site
I feel like you may ignore advice here and go with them anyway, if that is the case then as I said please don’t pay via bank transfer.

Or this is someone’s idea for an advert that hasn’t really worked out

Thanks @Jib . This is very fair and I am always very cautious when I deal with new companies or people I don't know, especially considering the big amount of money we are talking about here! I sent an email to ask for more details (also want to have things written down just in case rather than just calling).

I also get your comment on the failed ad, this is why I didn't originally shared the name of the company and also added a comment that I am just trying to assess the market (and being a new member certainly does not play in my favour!)

Depending on the answers I get I will go one way or another and certainly appreciate that the community recommend one vendor... There may be a good reason for that! :)

Edit: Electrocoin sent me the list via email, I honestly didn't check the website

I must admit that it had crossed my mind that this was a post by Games Room Company 😂

Sincere apologies to the OP if not of course.

If you are honestly looking to buy then I'd just offer this final rhetorical question . . .

Do you want to send £6.5k into the abyss without the absolute certainty that you'll receive a pinball machine? Or would you rather send £7k into the abyss to a trusted and established vendor with the certainty you'll receive a machine and aftercare?

Just bought a Godzilla LE from Pinball Heaven.
I have bought 1 or 2 NIB games from Phil every year from 2016. Service, technical support has been 100%..

mind you only thing to have gone wrong with my games is a trough board or 2.. no Node board issues yet.

phil also try’s hard to help even if the warranty is out.. don’t hold me to that tho. 😉

@Schyzophrenic - maybe you can edit your first post and add a poll with those four companies you listed. I'd be amazed if PH didn't sweep it with at least 95% :D

pinball heaven for sure - those prices quoted look like the prior generic prices before stern raised them.

@Schyzophrenic welcome to Pinballinfo, not sure if you’ve posted on the new members page.

I see your in London.. where abouts?
what NIB game are you looking to get?

I maybe wrong, but Stern are running Godzilla LE’s first and Pro / Prem might not get made until late in 2021 which means 2022 arrival.

Hey Dave, I did but after I posted this first post... I am north of London around Hornsey/Crouch End.
At the moment, i am looking at the new Godzilla announced which really hyped me with all the toys and the kitch theme.

Another reason for @philpalmer 's outstanding support here is that he is genuinely 'one of us'. He posts here, contributes machines to the shows (often the first appearance of NIB titles. Occasionally flown air-freight just so that they can make appearances in time for the shows). He is part of the community, rather than just another vendor.

I think you’re doing way too much asking around and over thinking - order a Godzilla from Phil, play it loads, move it on, repeat [emoji106]
It really is that simple (or… keep it, create room for ‘1 more pin’, repeat)

Considering that we are talking about even more money I am definitely looking at being on the safe side and you all made very sound arguments. I think it is quite clear what is your recommended course of action. Thank you all for that.

@Andydn mentioned I was overthinking this... and it is probably true, but you know what one says about first times!! I am first trying to convince me spending that much money is not stupid, so I want to make sure I don't make a mistake. My Tales from the Crypt was paid around 1K, even if not in perfect condition. That is a big gap here and that is why I am so hesitant.
Apologies if the hesitation is a bit annoying... Please bear with me ;)

You'll get most of the money back should you sell. That's always my justification for buying pins, even though I've not bought NIB or sold any of mine yet 😂

I have bought 4 NIB to date and all from Pinball Heaven. Had minor issues on two and a node board on one, all of which were sorted by Phil. If I go again, it will be Pinball Heaven again!

You surely have your answer.......

Just to echo everyone else’s comments, Phil at Pinball Heaven is the only way to go in the UK when it comes to NIB games. I’m also in North London and have bought eight or so from him over the years. I’d continue to buy from him if I ended up in Southern Cornwall or Northern Scotland.

The only problem with that idea is that we all buy from Phil anyway!

@philpalmer - What do you reckon? Up for organising some group buys from Stern?

Wouldn’t even consider going anywhere apart from Pinball Heaven. More importantly Phil is the only person I’d ever pay in advance. Buying from someone else would have to be cash on collection.

Be wary of games room company. A good friend of mine purchased a revenge from mars from them, ( yeah it wasn’t a nib)
They took 50% of the price as deposit, and said it would be available in 6 weeks, as there was some work to do on it. After 6 weeks it wasn’t ready, and basically he got fobbed off constantly for months. It eventually arrived 9 months later !
they even tried to pressure him into paying the full amount, while they were still working on it

They were probably trying to source one!

You could of course go to their (GRC) showroom and see for yourself and ask to see the pinball you are thinking of buying. Any decent company would happily oblige and for you Surrey can't be that far away.
Anyone else ever been to their showroom?
