The eBay Auctions / Facebook / Gumtree / Shpock 2024 thread

Elvis 'Gold Edition' (me neither) on the bay in auction format, currently around £1K.
Fun game, i really enjoyed mine: £1900 in 2014 from Eddie Mole (remember him?), sold for £2400 in 2016 to a Christian McFarquhar

What’s the estimated value on this one, a friend wants to upgrade from his standard Elvis if the auction end price isn’t too high?

Awesome, about 7 grand cheaper than the new LE and near the price of the Stern pro these days. Wish I had won it 😂

I chucked in a £6500 bid a couple of days ago. This would surely have been £10k+ before the remake was announced?
May have been if it was listed on here, interesting to see what the real prices go for on eBay. Feeling like they are way cheaper than what they would be listed on here for 🤷‍♂️

I am gutted as I was the second highest bidder. Was the winning bidder someone on here?

You could probably get 4k for a standard tidy elvis even with skill posts

Always punches high on theme

Immune from general price lull

And a great game IMHO

Now past £5.1k, looks like a lot of shilling to me... same bidder from 2k continues to push the price up...

I'm not convinced it is shilling. Maybe somebody just really wants it.

Somebody will pay handsomely for this. 20 year old huo pinball in incredible almost as new condition with popular theme sold by somebody who sells lots of high end stuff including lots of huo pinball machines and nos parts with incredible feedback and clearly been into pinball many years even knows martin for delivery.

I expect they are on here but keep their selling separate as the cheapskate collectors on here are not the best target market for their items. 😀

Yeah not many older used titles gonna pull in 10k these days.
In current market I think seller will be happy …
I’d peg decent MET prices +/- Pro 5.5 , Prem 7 , so LE 8.6 seems about right

Very much shilled.

"0***k (450)" bumped it up from 1k to 3,150 going up in increments to 3,050. Then later returned to bump it up further in increments to 4,109 pushing past "3***o (929)" bid of 4,009. They would have then retracted it or used another account to bid higher, then let someone else top it, as it's now highly desirable (!), with 16 bids on it so far (10 of those by the same account - "0***k (450)") with 4 days remaining, I would expect a few more bids before the auction ends.

It all looks pukka until you look closely, of course, it's just that someone really wants it....

Isn't that how eBay works? It bids for you upto your max bid. So I'd someone else puts a bid in eBay will increase your current bid for you each time they outbid you.

I don't think you can push the current bid up yourself, it'll only show the amount you need to be the current highest bidder.

Totally agree , an authentic auction doesn’t jump up this early . Genuine bidders keep their cards close until the final few minutes … it’s totally shilled

But if someone else is the highest bidder, you can shill up in small increments to see what their max bid is. If you accidentally end up with the highest bid then you can cancel your bid off.

Some people just put their highest bid in and leave it, not everyone is stuck to their phone constantly monitoring it.

Shilled or not, decide what your highest bid is and let it play out.

Depends on different bidders bidding tactics but I know what you mean. Assuming the bids to be genuine, then it's a way of seeing how far another bidder will go without over-bidding yourself, until it gets to the serious bidding at the end. I've watched a few recently and they tend to go up to close to the eventual selling price within three or four days before the final push at the end. Me, I put a marker bid early on and wait to the end unless of course it's gone way past what I would be prepared to pay. (which it has on every machine so far!)

In fairness it sounds like an excellent condition machine and for some, it seems, money isn't a problem. There would appear to be two different markets at least; those who want a machine in tip-top condition and are prepared to pay, and those like myself who would be happy with a working machine but not top of the range or vintage.
I compare it to the car market, some like showroom condition up-market car and renew it every year. Me, I keep my ageing Berlingo multispace going as long as it gets through another MOT. It still drives on the same roads as everyone else and is just behind the white van when getting priority from other drivers.

Yeh a gold Elvis has to be at least £6k there not many of them. I love that game. Especially if it's been only in the home. First and second only to LOTR I've completed in an arcade. Love the never ending multiball wizard mode. From memory it's a minute to get a massive score

I only ever put one bid on 2 or 3 seconds before the auction ends. I decide long in advance what I am happy to pay for any item and thats it. If I win it will always be at a price that is lower than the most I was willing to pay so I am always happy.

Ebay isn't a proper auction anyway. It can never be a proper auction whilst it has a fixed end time and the ability of bidders to withdraw bids (is that still allowed?). To me it's just a sealed envelope bid where the winner gets the item at one bid increment above the second highest sealed bid. What goes on before that is all just noise and doesn't really matter anyway. It always surprises me that anybody puts any bid on ebay other than in the last 5 or 10 seconds.

On low value items auctions - which is mostly where I’m found 😁 - I find if a bid or 2 has already been placed and I’m not desperate for the item and looking for a bargain it can put me off as I’m not looking to get into a bidding war . So sticking down that first bid can work in your favour - I have placed the opening low bid on stuff and been pleasantly surprised 7 days later when I got it for 99p 😁 So maybe other bottom feeders are like me , or maybe I’m talking complete bobbins.

John isn’t in to shilling. This will go for around £6k, nice condition Elvis always commands high ££ and Gold adds a bit (although electrocoin used to have a ton that they couldn’t shift at around £3k)

Ah sorry Andy it was me who won it. I’m new to this forum and only just stumbled across this thread. It was a tense auction I thought I’d lost it at the end - very close indeed and a little more than what I was hoping to get it for but despite that the machine is in beautiful condition and will be well looked after in my small collection
