Stern’s 2022 manufacturing schedule

Exactly and why, in my opinion, it's a good call and morally right. Not everything has to be about bringing out more new titles than 'the rest' and losing out on cash from rich pinheads that must be first in line to get the latest new title. I'm pretty sure Stern aren't going to go bust over it.

when someone explains how this solves the backlog I might buy that story but for me it does nothing to the backlog. So who believes that if stern had launched one game less last year the backlog wouldnt exist?

I'm sure a certain sized backlog would still exist, but chipping away at reducing it (by reducing one new title release this year) is the clear plan here. As Tesco likes to say 'every little helps'.... not sure why you're not getting that.

so If the backlog is as big as many have claimed stern won’t be releasing 3 games for the next 2 years then.

Distributers won’t see any more games to sell than they have seen already!

stern won’t lose a sale either way in that case.

Hey apple don’t release iPhone 14 until everyone has an iPhone 13 That wants one! 😂

It's a PR exercise (of course it is). People are ****ed that Stern make a game they don't want (e.g. rush) ahead of a game they ordered many many months ago. If I had paid a $1000 (or whatever) deposit 12 months ago and still didn't have any kind of delivery date I'd be rather peeved...

By making the above announcement, Stern are putting some balm on the wound.

It's even possible that the April release hit some snag and they would have to delay it but they spun this story up instead... We'll never know! 🤷‍♂️

I’ll put my money on Gary/Stern knowing the market better than anyone else and they wouldn’t be making this choice if it wasn’t the best move for them financially, so clearly letting the backlog build is hurting them otherwise they would have continued as they where.

The distributor letter does state “cornerstone” releases, so we will likely still see the Studio/KaPow release if true.

More pinball machines in the wild and less greedy distributors (in the US I'm talking) adding ridiculous premiums due to lack of numbers available. It would stop stuff like this happening...

The above EHOH you've seen in other posts. The machine ends up upside down. Then relisted for even more money on eBay without mention of what happened to it.

Stern just need to put a stop to their Bon Jovi/Whitesnake/Fleetwood Mac (or whatever else they're planning) pins and make me a Godzilla.

Simples

You're comparing the production of a few thousand pinball machines to 100 million of a particular iphone model?

Plus an iphone 14 is an upgrade of an iphone 13. You can't really call RUSH an upgrade to a Godzilla.

Only stern has the sales figures / distro feed back and are making a decision off those. No way anyone here can tell them it’s wrong with little or no data lol

That depends on the buyers! I bet there are alot of rush owners who don’t have godzilla!

What if the press release is just smokescreen to soothe some egos but they bring out a Kapow title or similar in place of the Cornerstone?
The way I read the distributor letter it makes a point of stating the change is only to cornerstone titles, leaving vaults, studios etc all a go and it confirms this year only.

If Bond is indeed a Studio release (KaPow) that’s likely a big enough title/seller to sell big numbers while also allowing time to catch up on the backlog.

I'm hoping that's a p1ss take, surely not. Who in the right mind would want that.
