Restoration of my Seeburg Magnastar SB100 Jukebox (1976)

Ta for heads up, but different motor.
Think it may be the lamination around the coil buzzing like fook.
@myPinballs you drill out or dink uk sized vinyl?

In all honesty i;ve never had to dink or cut a hole in any vinyl mate, my seeburg select-o-matic mechanism will play standard 45's or ones with a hole cut in them with no adjustment so i've never thought about it. And its only 1 motor for the full thing to :)

Crikey 3 or 4 motors on mine

The Seeburg mechanism and their record memory unit are wonderful pieces of engineering. They made something amazing and then used it pretty much unaltered other than cassette capacity for 40 years !

One of the reasons I wanted a seeburg specifically

SNAP (well almost) - Another topaz... Nice surprise to see Jim's almost identical one this morning.

I found that input for the Line / sonus Jim:

Nice one. Sorry for being vague on the cable details. My brain is frazzled right now ;)

See this post here where i show the cable i made, i was correct for it being and old molex type square plug at the jukebox end! I have the connectors i think somewhere if you need one and cant find them

Inspired by the thread resurrection and getting some acetone from Alan, I’ve set about continuing my cabinet restoration that’s been parked for awhile after getting the internals working.

I am wanting to remove the purple metallic spray that someone put over all the chrome.. 😤😫

Also I am going to return the side panels to cream instead of green!

The next few posts should document my journey here

Nice work Jim, the chrome on my topaz is a bit pitted but I would never paint it lol. Oh and mind you don't spill that stuff on my orange trainers!!
Yeah I may get them replated eventually, but seeing what some cleaning up and polishing does first

never want to see purple spray paint ever again lol

Also taking the chrome frame off is not a simple task. Took me best part of an afternoon to get all the screws out! There’s a fair amount of stuff you have to take off to make it possible to remove aswell

On mine the bottom piece was fairly rusted, so I sanded it smooth as I could and stuck chrome effect vinyl on it, looks much better but not real chrome, will add a pic later

Polish station! This bottom one was worst one for rust so come out pretty good

Foil sand first
Then 3 levels of polish wheel with autosol
Final buff with fine wheel

In the ever continuing removal of purple spray, cleanup of the speaker grill &surround has started

Will be adding the original striping back to it aswell

100% - I have used it on quite a few pins, even managed to stencil cabs with montana acrylic.
Yeah, I was thinking it would be good for stencil jobs.

The giddyness of finally getting rid of these horrible green panels is hard to contain!! lol

@Poibug

For dinkers - I use these - I think Mr Palmer has it at the moment as my machines play small or large holes.

Can get them for about £75.

These I have had the most success with.

The other types split some records. Even the £200 ones!

If you have your rowe ami still - you can get an automix turntable and convert it to play both size holes.

Sorry to hijack @myPinballs post.

Rob Colvill in Tingley does a really good dinker @myPinballs - it’s worth a trip up to see him and his wonderful machines. He’s the Grumbleweed guy.
