Kevlar, they will be across the back wall and there is not room to remove the glass, however when you choc the front legs up a few inches the glass just about comes out.

Dan, I'm lighting the ceiling with down lighting spots, I only play in a darkened room to be honest. But I must admit you and Grizz have probably persuaded me to have a couple of uplighters on the side wall, so I might put a call in to the sparky in the morning to discuss it. It makes sense.

Looking good mate,I'd go for a few small down lighter down the middle of ceiling use toroidal transformers so they can then be put on a dimmer if needed.

Looks like one of the throat cancer patients had enough and took a gun to that sign. Looks like its been peppered with bullets.

Just a quick update. Sparkys been today. All the wiring is in and on the good recommendations of the group I've got 2 up lighters going in.

Thanks Ive. I'll speak to him tomorrow. Don't wanna hammer a picture hook in and do meself a mischief!!

I should point out he hasn't finished yet. Photo was taken mid way through. I'll ensure those cables are dropped down

Hahaha. Anchorman style;-) many congratulations for the weekend Geoff. Hope you have a fantastic day.

Ok so I've buried the sparky in the stud work for sloppy work, he'll be found in hundreds of years time like a time capsule with a note nailed to his head saying "I didn't do as I was told!"

Well maybe not but we're all sorted now;-)

Unfortunately I've got to wait for a week or so for the plasterer to come so everything will grind to a halt.

I'm torn as to what to use for flooring. Tiles would be ideal for moving machines around but cold and noisy. Ive ruled out laminate as it would scratch too easily I think. I'm leaning towards a hard wearing carpet but all the samples Ive seen are grundy!!

What do you think?

So far cost wise it breaks down as follows:
All materials including garage doors, celotex, floor, plaster board, timber for baton, door lock = £1000
Chippy £840
Sparky including materials, 6x double sockets, 4 spots, 1x BT point, wiring, 2x uplighters £200 maybe a tad more
Plasterer £170

= £2210

Still need floor covering which I reckon will be about £350. So I'm hoping to come in around £2600.

Then the fun part, filling it with cool man stuff;-)

All services employed are mates so saving on labour charges a bit and fitting in with there schedules.

I put laminate in my garage (on top of insulation layer) seems to me holding up fine and it was really cheap stuff (think it was £3 per Square meter) still have a box or two of it incase I need to do some repairs etc

I went with hard wearing industrial carpet tiles. Bought a bunch of 2nds off ebay - about £35 was more than enough for the Shack, and a good few spares Have stood up to a lot of abuse over the last 4 years. And when you spill beer on them...which sometimes happens ;) , burn them with solder etc  ...you dont really care cos if they get too bad you can swap in new ones.

Will has gone with some sort of sparkly carpet in his garage, he thinks he looks really arcade, I think it looks really camp :D

Looking good. My vote definitely goes to carpet, its warmer and more sound absorbent plus if you are going to spend hours on your feet playing pinball your feet will thank you.

Lookin the part now Gaz.
Will look even better finished and full of Pins.
Carpet for the floor is my vote.

The kitchen corner I called a man cave until you out man caved me, has laminate floor boards. Really cheap and it has foam underneath for insulation, and no pinball damage yet.

i have astroturf on the floor of my Tiki Hut, which fits with the overall theme (bamboo on walls, mirror ball on ceiling).

you will need to also choose a moniker, if 'Man Cave' is not already nailed on. GrizZ has 'The Shack', i think Cal may use 'Man Cave'.

I went for vinyl floor tiles in my garage/games room. Hard wearing, look good and quite warm in the winter. Easy to lay over uneven floor too! If you ruin one you can just pop it out and replace.IMG_3257.jpg

Nice is an understatement, that's 15 grand worth of games there including 3 of the top 5 rated games of all time
