This bloody hobby!!! I started out with a 30" gap in my kitchen which I wanted to fill 3 years ago. Now I no longer have a garage!!!!

Work started yesterday and quite frankly I'm leaking fluids with excitement;-)
When finished it will accommodate 6 pins in a line across the back wall, one older Bally/Gott EM under the stairs and one folded away under the stairs! Time to fill her up!!

Here are a few pics of the initial stages. Basically I've laid plastic sheeting over the concrete floor, then covered it in 100 mil celotex board, and laid tounge and groove board over that. Which brings us to this point:

Today I'm having double outward opening wooden doors put on, which will be celotexed behind, then ply lined. If this proves to be insulation enough we'll leave it as is, otherwise we'll stick a stud wall up behind the doors with another set of double doors in. This still has to be able to function as a garage for my motorbike and planning regs, as I'm not changing the use of the building!!

Then the walls will be battened and filled with 25mm celotex and plastered. Spots in the ceiling. Further updates and pics to follow.

Fantastic mate it will be cool when it's done ,I had to move 2 years ago so I had room for pins and the mrs allowed me the big room for my man caveimage.jpg image.jpg

I've just secured my first Pin but we have such little space there is no chance i'll get any more at the current address.

I reckon it'll be 2 years tops before i'll be looking at moving to a place with more room, and top of the list will be a dedicated gaming room, or a garage that can be converted at the very least.

I want to get rid of the table and chairs, the sofa bed and her excecise bike so I can fit in more,I reckon 16 in all would fit but her in doors says NO:(

He's mocking my obvious comment about siting my spots;-)
I meant as opposed to a strip light or normal fitting! I'm going all trendy! Ha ha.

Nice cave there Dave. My remaining slots will be filled with dmd games.

Awesome Gaz ! I'm excited for you.

A word of warning though - more space is awesome, but its like putting yr foot on the pinball accelerator ........... this goddamn 'hobby' /addiction just spins wildly out of control. I say this with 10 pins stuffed in my 8 pin space and another sat in the hall with its backbox off until I decide wtf to do with it

Pudsey, your pictures appear upside down to me. I assumed you use some special force I don't know about.

Are the chairs, bed and bike used? If not, slowly sell them off, see if she notices.

Cancel my spot light comment then:-$

I can see what's gonna happen. I'll sacrifice games set up for 2 folded away in there place. Due to the height clearance with the stairs I can't fit a modern Williams in the gap so I'll HAVE to fill it with an older style game which aren't as tall.

It would appear that for some of us Pudsey's pictures are upside down whilst other are either too polite to point it out or are use to some weird stuff.

Gaz, how will you maintain the temperature in the winter? Will the bike still be rolled in?

Think carefully about positioning of lights above machines also. Worst thing is playfield glare if you like/need to play with some lights up. In pin rooms I am much more a fan of wall uplighting. I actually find in the GrizZ Shack that the light from all the games switched on is enough anyway.

Hmmmm for all my powers of the dark side,it seems I can't get a picture the right way up......ok cal no need to pour salt on the fact!!!!;)

In the extension, that is currently my man cave, I put a normal hanging light but fitted a switch into the bulb holder. Means I can turn it off when playing but leave it on when working. Cheap and it works. Obviously when all the machines are on, no other light is needed.

That's a great idea! if i put all my pins on the ceiling then the misses cant complain about them cluttering up the floor!!! ;)

Doesn't the securing wire stretch over time though??

The spots are gonna be for light during maintenance. I have another light with 3 directional spots for normal lighting. I have a radiator being installed for heating as the garage is integral to the house and directly beneath the boiler which is handy. The bike will roll in next to the pins. If I'm playing alone I'll have to move it up and down the gangway depending which machine I'm playing, otherwise I'll stick it on the drive whilst playing. Not ideal but I have no alternative.

Ceiling pins are the future. Was discussing the idea of a Rotisserie system with Matt Adams a while back so as to pack in more machines. The idea was to have them on a big spinning platform to make the most of the pointless head space.

Good luck with the man cave.

Man cave is looking good so far Gaz.
Looking forward to the next installment of pic's.
Don't forget the more room you have the more pins you buy and end up in the same mess you were in before you started.
Don't you just love this hobby.

I've just secured my first Pin but we have such little space there is no chance i'll get any more at the current address.

There's always a way to find one more space. ;)

Good luck with the man cave Gaz, I await new pics !

Well the missus did suggest a loft conversion but the thought of lugging a pin up to the top of the house fills me with dread. That said it would mean they'd probably stop up there...... ;)

New developments. The garage door is on. This will be further insulated and lined. The walls have now been dry lined and battened.
Tomorrow the electrician comes to give me lots of sockets ;-) walls to be insulated also.

The last image is of a cool old enamel sign I found in my local antique shop today to adorn the wall. There's a few throat cancer patients who might not agree with that slogan!! Oh how times have changed!!
