do any of the UK parts places sell these? Need a few sets.

Cheers,
Neil.

Using lightening flippers would create an unfair advantage for flip out players, who would be able to practice in the coming months on the machines they are fitted to.
And you don't have a unfair advantage playing on all the latest titles night and day.
Most people don't have yours and other people's collections
of machines , I don't hear those people moaning .

:p:p:p:p

@JAG555 slightly shorter flippers, fitted to games such as BSD and FT as a way to "enhance" play - makes the gap wider, the ability to post pass and cradle harder.

Shorter flippers

Bloody hell, I have enough trouble as it is! :D

But good to know! Every day is a school day![/QUOTE]

Having recently got another Fish Tales, I am reminded why I used to call them 'b*stard lightning flippers'

Grrrr [emoji16]

<popeye laugh> the machine they are going on is at my house and I doubt many of the flip out members are known for breaking and entering, well apart from Stan.

No problem, they should favour the better players so the underdogs have less chance of winning the game in head to head play. Nice move Neil

How so? @Moonraker? Are short flippers used on games such as whoa Nellie? If one over flips the ball will fly over and go down the out lane. Those of us who have intermediate flipper skills should be ok... it’s down to the timing of the flip

the better players are the better players unless you've been faking it lol. This just keeps the game time low :D

All down to how one plays on the night/day and if the machine in question is “behaving itself”

As I understand it, when Fish Tales was first released the french market was extremely important and the main distributor(s) said that game times would be too long so they insisted that Williams fitted shorted flippers on them to reduce game time. The lightning flippers were only intended to be fitted to French machines, but as it was recounted to me some cock up meant that they were fitted to most/all FTs that were sold around the world. They were not what Mark Ritchie originally intended for his machine, but for the purposes of a tournament they do keep ball times down.

The game can be tough if you aren't nailing shots - lots of potential for fluffed shots being punished by SDTM. But I fear regular flippers might make it too easy. I would never switch out lightnings [emoji298] Anyway it keeps my swear jar brimming over [emoji16]

At PAPA and Pinburgh lots of games have lightning flippers.

Shorter flippers?

I've got a BSD on the way. Is it a good idea for a relative beginner (with little skill) to replace the lightning flippers? or would that make it too easy?

@astyy Ha! Ha! Yeah, FISH TALES can be infuriatingly tough in PBFX3. That bloody drain off the right-hand side of the table as the ball returns to the play field is deadly. Can only imagine how hard this table is in real life. Hope to play a real FISH TALES one day.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what 'lightening flippers' are or what they do? :hmm:
I thought maybe they were regular flippers with a lightning decal on, or illuminated ones or something like that. I'm glad you asked so I didn't have to. :)
