King Kong by Stern

🤩 🤩 🤩
This has probably killed all potential sales of HP, Dune, and even Sterns own recent releases like UXM and DnD.
As for the previous 2 releases names withheld they will be forgotten and possibly not even get updates I bet.

It has surpassed my expectations by a long way and my FOMO is making me feel 🤮

Well done to Stern the GOAT has yet again took things to another level.

Colin, you say this about every second game 😂

This does look great, some of those shots look nuts.

Also no gong on the pro, but you do get drop targets which feels like a premium exclusive for the most part except select titles of recent years.

Nailed on this shoots better than HP, Dune etc. cool theme, absolutely timeless. Zombi Yeti art is a bit meh to me but game looks awesome overall

erm, no. I expect more from an Elwin game. Clever little ball paths and stuff. Maybe the gameplay will make it more Elwiny. Pro plastics look horrible and the narrator is the same voice as GZ. Might be a bit much next to each other.
Wouldnt buy anyway as sick of uncoded games and not funding Sterns latest kickstarter. Sure they'll be releasing Tron Vault soon anyway.

Props to Stern team for trying to put more into the game by doing a non-licence theme, music and using an actual comedian for call outs.

I bet it's a flow monster. A lot more stuff on the playfield, which is an improvement on Jaws for me - as the shots were lit quite far back on that.

Tough competition for pinball owners cash at the moment.

I’m into it, love the homage to the extremely rare original. I like the use of the sides of the playfield, hidden paths and loads of cool wire forms. No spare at the moment but I’d like a premium at some point. I prefer the pro art though.

First time I will say this on a Zombie Yeti game, but the art looks off to me and doesn’t suit the theme.
Have to agree.
I was expecting the LE to be lovely foil with Empire State Building, bi planes and King Kong with pinup girl in hand.
Kinda done Art Deco 1930s style New York…
Very disappointing Art.

I think the premium artwork is the best

Loving the Kong scaling the building and fighting the bi-planes... Already thinking about powdering coating colours

Playfield artwork is very tiki and cool

That looks really good, crikey it's going to be tough choosing pins with Potter coming out soon too.

Ironically, the only Godzilla film I saw was reasonably recent whereas I only remember seeing King Kong in black and white.

I think I was naively expecting the Gorilla to be smashing up New York rather than in the jungle?

Anyway, can't wait to play this, you can tell it shoots well as we'd expect from Elwin.

The spider looks a bit naff but someone will quickly design a decent replacement.

At first I thought the PF artwork looked terrible*, but then Imit makes me think of Elvira HOH's artwork and I kind of dig it.

*Still think Kong's face on the centrepiece/above the flippers and on the spinner looks horrendous, although I general I'm not a fan of ZY's artwork)

Not an Elwin fanboy atall (but do like GZ and 'Maiden a lot), but think the wire forms look interesting (especially the higher up one) and really like the way the ramp has the ball lock lights on it.
Shame they couldn't have come up a spider-mech where say, the legs move around creepily and/or it crawls dorward or something; juat jiggling about a bit looks really crap and cheap overall (pro looks better without it) - aftermarket spider will improve that, but still....

Look forward to playing, and could be a cracker, let's see.

Side note re; the P.Jackson film. That spider pit(?) scene was awesome (with the terrifying worm kind of things in there) - amazing how they managed to get that in a 12(?) rated film.
Also great how Jackson went and filmed/stop-motioned that scene which was written, but was never filmed for the original b&w film:-)

Watching the videos more and looking at the playfields I think as usual the pro would be the way to go for me. Prem toys are cool but they lose their wow after a while. Pro seems to have all the same shots, Prem maybe a bit more dangerous with ricochets off the gong but otherwise they seem to play pretty much the same.

Does the LE cab art have one side from the pro, one from prem? I know it's nice foil but I'd want something unique for 15k!

Too many chefs then….
From loserkids podcast it seems like they split up the artists between stuff.
Greg Freres - cab art
Kevin O'Connor - playfield art - he also did the original artwork for the Data East King Kong - color scheme was apparently his idea
Zombie Yeti - tying it together

I really like the leftside of the playfield with the jungle like features and color scheme and the details are insane when you look up close - all together looks a bit busy though. Still want to play this as it looks fun
