Expired DMD Led Color DMDMK66 128x32, 192x64, 128x16 manufactured by Pinballsp

Expired Due to no activity
.

I received today already the DMDMK66 12V DC PCB board, so I will assemble and test full DMDMK66 along next week. And I have add one more hardware option, with a new microcontroller, the most powerful, a Cortex M7, Atmel SAM S70, 300Mhz, 2Mb Flash, 384K RAM, and its even cheaper than MK66 (MK26 in pictures is same, without Ethernet not needed for this application).

So DMDMK66, may be finally is DMDSAM7. This do not mean start to do a new firmware, both MK66 and SAMS70 are ARM MCU's, so easy to move the firmware from one to another with small changes. A more powerful microcontroller allow better features to play full colorized games.

My new DMDMK66 or SAM7 install a parallel SD card 4bit access, so faster access than SD SPI 2 wires (in DMDST32), to read colorized game files.

Current hardware comparison for my DMD's is following:
DMDST32, STM32F407, 168Mhz, 1Mb flash, SD card serial 2 wire (slow access).
DMDMK66, Kinetis MK66 (MK26), 180 Mhz, 1Mb Flash, SD card parallel 4 bit (faster than SPI 2wires)
DMDSAM7, Atmel SAM S70, 300 Mhz, 2Mb Flash, SD card parallel 4 bit (faster than SPI 2wires).

ALL my current and new DMD's will install special "bleeding free" Led panels for best quality.

My new DMDMK66, prototype assembled and now under test, I think soon I will may offer it. With better features than DMDST32, a more powerful processor, 512Mb flash memory to store full colorized games, SD card fast access (4bit parallel), do not need pay key licenses or wait for activation, all updates for free. Without third-party firmware dependencies, uses its own firmware.

First firmware release support all Bally/Williams, Data East, Stern/Sega WhiteStar, Stern SAM. Now also testing Capcom and Spike. WIFI support will be add in next firmware version, to UPDATE firmware and config device. Also in second firmware will add virtual pinball support (or may be even in first firmware version)

Also Im preparing already the software needed to may apply advanced color frame by frame to any game. I have send a second prototype to a friend that has many pinball to test it in several pinball by manufacturer.

ALL my Multicolor DMD, install the new "Bleeding FREE" Led panels, for best quality. All are 12VDC Ready, do not need external power supply, plug and play, only need connect 2 wires to 12V.

I think this may be the one we have been waiting for Luis.

Thank you, stopap. I hope this DMD become a good product, with cheap price and the best features, now I may develop all my own ideas about hardware and firmware.

Testing DMDMK66 in Bally/Williams, Data East, WhiteSTar and Spinball. All work perfectly.

And a surprise, the firmware work and support "Spinball" spanish pinball manufacturer of Jolly Park and another. Along this week will test in Capcom, Stern SAM and Stern Spike, and if all work fine, then soon I will release the first version of DMDMK66, hardware and firmware. If possible, in first release I will add virtual pinball support, if no possible will add in first firmware update.

All updates for free, do not need pay licenses, do not need wait for activations, plug and play, work immediately.

I need to find a working boardset first :( (@pinballsp - Any clues where i could get a tested working boardset, or alternatively anyone that can test mine please, as i get no boot :( )
Thanks!

You may place a post in Petacos spanish forum, to see if somebody sell a CPU board for Jolly Park.
http://petacos.forumcommunity.net/m/?f=5930704

Also you may contact with my friend Orlando in Spain, he repair a lot of pinball machines, and may be may provide you some board or even repair your damaged board.

I'm looking forward to buying one of these colour DMDs as soon as they are ready for sale. Let me know when.

.

Today I received the PCB board to test the new processor Atmel SAM S70, a very powerful microcontroller ARM Cortex M7, 300 Mhz, 1 or 2Mb Flash. Also I made a prototype board for new tests with MK66. Now I do small prototypes boards, are cheaper and I add some extra hardware to test new options, so when product is working with prototype I will do the final big board. These two prototype boards also allow test DMD with P2 panels to do 192*64 big DMD for SEGA.

I will send to manufacturer also a small prototype board to test development of DMD 128x16.

.

SAM7 Test Board assembled and ready to check first firmware, also I have assembled a test MK66 with some more hardware to do more test. Both with option for 192*64 led panels.

In a few days I will receive also a test board for 128x16 led panels.

My new DMDMK66 192 x 64, SEGA compatible, is close to be ready, doing last tests to solve minor issues. I have already send PCB to manufacturer, ALL in one big board, professional look, like my DMDMK66 128x32 and DMDST32.

Product is Plug and play, do not need external AC power supply, connect to 12v DC, so it's very compact and light weight. Store config palette and brightness level in SD card, also I may custom product with your logo or splash screen (company or private).

First firmware release will support single color palette (4 colors) and Random Autopalette, this new option allow config 4 paletttes and activate option will do that firmware change color palette automatically each 20-30 seconds. Also Im preparing a software to colorize frame by frame for advanced color, this Editor also will work with all my DMDMK66, 128 x 32 and 128 x 16.

Most likely my 192x64 DMDMK66 display will be on sale in a couple of weeks. The final price will be 355 Euros + shipping costs. Optional extras, pre-configured micro SD card +9 Euros, Amber filter +19 Euros.

I remember that this DMD do not need pay extra key licenses (so save money) and do not need wait for any activation, connect and work inmediately.

This DMDMK66 192 x 64, is FULL 100% developed by me, HARDWARE and FIRMWARE, so any question, problem or suggestion to improve product, may contact directly with me, Im the DEVELOPPER, not a distributor. As soon as product is available, delivery time 2-4 days after receive payment.

For questions or orders may contact with me by email to pinballsp@gmail.com, Whatsapp +34 693 344 445, Skype pinballsp or by the private messenger of Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Pinballsp .

how are you getting the power for it, do you have a harness or are you using vampire clips?

Neil.

For the DMDMK66 192x64 do not need any special harness, and do not need any vampire clips . This is Plug and Play 12V DC ready (do not need external AC power supply), so connect directly to same connectors that the original DMD, data and 4pin power supply.

See pictures attached, in the fourth picture you may see the power supply connector (4 pin Molex connector), same than original, so remove your original DMD, connect DMDMK66 and thats all, work immeditaly, do not need pay key licenses, do not need request and wait for any activation.

And Im also working with a software (Magic Color Tool Editor), to may colorize games for all my DMDMK66 (128x32, 128x16, 192x64), for advanced color frame by frame, so also will may colorize all the SEGA 192x64 pinball games.

Can it still work with the old 'pin2dmd.dat' file for different palettes?

No, DMDMK66 is not compatible with pin2dmd, but also you may configure your own color palettes. It's even easier, configuration store in a text file, with 4 lines to store 4 palettes, and one line for the brightness level, there is a new feature that allow run up to 4 palettes in same game, so palette change automatically each 20-30 seconds. And also Im developing a software to colorize games frame by frame, with advanced options for fast work.

And yesterday I assembled also the TEST board for the new DMDMK66 128 x 16 for Hook and similar.
