Stern FINALLY jumps into the current decade and updates the screens, probably the best bit - as far as I can work out it's basically going to be a re-theme of the Dark Knight machine? Kinda like SMVE I guess.

Most definitely not a VE, retaining some of TDK's features but a new layout

so now a pro is called a premium,
a premium is an LE and an LE is a SuperLE
sounds expensive.

Invitation only LEs? LOL ...

Guessing they'll be a minimum of $15K in the US, much more elsewhere.

Expect they're testing the water, then they'll do 100 @ $15K for the next game, if these are clamoured over.

It's a one off for their birthday - could be they will do this in the future but maybe not!

SLEs?

Maybe we'll receive our invites along the lines of "please buy the ****ing things as they are taking up space in the warehouse"

The 2nd screen in the playfield came as a bit of a surprise. Guessing it'll be similar to Heighway's one.

If the video needs the next generation of Spike boards to control it I wonder if part of the bigger plan is to sell kits for recent machines including lcds and the spike 2 boards. Given Stern are now in the mod market I can see them retrofitting them for games such as Kiss and GOT.

If MMr is now 8k new then I'm going for 9k for the limited version. New price hike and the weak pound is going to have an impact.

Be interesting to see how many get over here with how expensive they have become, love the theme though.

Great theme.

Bally SS games in the early 80s had displays set into the pf - Medusa, Vector. Stern make out that it is a bl@@dy revolution.

Another bloody rehash greedy barstewards
They are a business. They need to make money. Good luck to them, and long may they survive. We are lucky to still have a pin company pumping out several new titles every year.

Can't wait to see this one :)

These are luxury items/toys. And if you are fortunate to have spare cash to buy one they actually retain a higher percentage of their value for resale than many (most?) other high ticket goods.

If it's a special for their 30th anniversary, why not something from 1986 instead of 1966? If my maths is correct that's 50 years ago.

Films released in 1986 include:
Top Gun
Crocodile Dundee
Ferris Buellers Day Off
Blue Velvet
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Highlander

Some iconic themes there.

I agree with the point about value retention, but also I tend to agree with Rudi a bit on this one though. If it's a rehash of BMTDK, re-uses (even in part) old code, old playfield mechanisms, etc, then you'd have thought the production costs were way less. But the announcement implies it's going to cost even more?! Hopefully the differences will be enough to justify any price increases if they come, otherwise, to me at least, this looks like an extremely cynical marketing job.

I think the invitation will work like this ...

P - punter
S - Stern

P - is that Stern ? The company that sends out half baked games without properly testing them ?
S - what you want ?
P - I want to buy an invitation only Batman 66. The game co-designed by Joe Kaminkow, you know, the guy that did Class of 1812 and Space Jam. How much ?
S - LOADSADOLLARS
P - I will pay LOADSADOLLARS
S - May we invite you to buy one
