Bargain WPC Speaker Upgrade £10 a pair for dual driver Sony xs-gt1328f

Put the new Sony speakers in my CV today. No problems and they sound a lot more balanced. I did have to increase the volume to 16, but for a tenner I think they sound great and cheaper than the ones I put in my TZ last year.

The Manny product looks to be the same concept as the pinball pro one. Namely an easy way of getting a 5.25" speaker in the right hand side.

The limitation of course is that your speaker will be firing through a smaller hole (the original one) than it ideally needs. But this will still be much better with your Sony speakers than the original crappy Williams one

This is not an ideal solution, but for people who can't be bothered dissembling the speaker panel, cutting mdf, countersinking the nuts - I think it looks a reasonable compromise

I know folks have differing opinions regarding Manny's high-end pinball restorations/upgrade, i.e., "Over Bling", but I have to say he's pretty quick out of the mark with this one! Best of all he only has to make one prototype to get the dimensions right and I bet with the workshop equipment he's got it takes all of 5 minutes to make and pack them to order. Probably a great way of using up those pesky little MDF offcuts ;)

So ...... £10 for the two speakers per OP and the left one pops straight in, then £5 for this adaptor and the right one fits straight in too?

I checked mine against my R&B and can confirm they won't fit without some modification.

No clue quite how or if i'll do it yet but as it's in bits at the moment it's hardly a high priority. I might put my thinking cap on and see if I can come up with a way to do it, but for the sake of £10 it's hardly a big problem.

Just in case no one's noticed, all 134 speakers have been sold on eBay. They really were a bargain. Next cheapest seller is £28.39.

Free to anyone to collect if you're after a set of stock speakers ☺2015-02-05 21.09.21.jpg

Came here to ask if the black/yellow wire goes to the red wire on the speaker but I can see it one of the pics above it does.
Put mine in my WhiteWater,
Sounds fantastic!
I had upgraded the sub a while back and was looking for speakers.
My first ball on my test game I finished the whirlpool mode for the first time so was chuffed!

has anyone seen a similarly underpriced woofer that might fit the bill?

What characteristics would I be looking for (ignoring the obvious "****ing **** your pants loud")?

I have used the following on a number of WPC, Stern and Sega cabinet speaker upgrades (I tend to leave the backbox speakers in situ).

L Pad (to balance the sound between backbox and cabinet): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131403432708?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

The cabinet speaker should have as a high a sensitivity level (DB) as you can find. The higher it is, the less hard the amp has to work to generate the same output. This one is rated at 88db but 90+ is better. Also ensure that the sub responds well to the lower frequencies. This one is rated down to 40hz but lower is better. Apparently, and if you drive a Nova/Impreza/Civic etc, anything below 30hz is considered 'well phat innit'.

Of course you could do this too. Search for The Korn on RGP!

I keep seeing people bring up Crossover's on here. Don't bother with a Crossover, use a Low Pass Filter instead.

The little board is listed as a crossover but is just a low pass filter. Think it's just the terminology used in the ad.

Ah yes you're right. I've looked at some others and they have the same number of input/output pins. That IS just a low pass filter but for some reason this eBay douche is listing it as a crossover. Gonna send him an email cos they're 2 completely different things.

Not sure if this has already been addressed, but can anyone make a mounting plate to put a 5 1/4' speaker on the right side speaker in WPC95 machines (with the plastic display panel), or know where you can get a replacement plastic one to match the left speaker?

The fabricated MDF one should look like this:
