yes, Jaws is coming but, expecting to hear we're gonna need a bigger boat by the lord of jaws himself Roy Schneider? hmm probably not. Someone that sounds like him? maybe. Or joke at your pinball players favourite tattoo with mother? hmm probably not.

Stern have the movie license (and I'm hoping the music assets at least) but they don't have anything else. So it will be like Jurassic Park but without nedry. This will be released just before December if Stern stick to their schedule... (and your favourite designer is on it!)

Ever since I first joined the Yahoo group there’s been rumours that Stern are just about to release Jaws.
Probably one of the strongest themes left for the 50+ demographic.
Not too sure how good the LCD would be though. Wasn’t the whole point of Jaws that you hardly ever got to see the shark in order to build suspense?

There was another thread a few months ago on here which was talking about Bond & Jaws but someone said Jaws definitely wouldn't happen (or maybe that was BTTF?) so maybe it's just another rumour.

I'd definitely prefer Jaws to Bond because there's probably more scope for a bit of fun where as Bond will probably have to play it straight.

I tell you what though . . . . if Sterns next three releases were Jaws, Bond & BTTF there'd be a lot of people refreshing their collections.
 
Didn’t we also fall for that one with “the fully interactive Smaug”.? I’d expect a shark that pops up on the table (possibly in different positions)

I’d also hope for a harpoon gun device. To load the balls as “barrels” for the multiball.
 
IMO there has to be a harpoon like ACDC or Walking Dead, a Shark mech like JP2 or Alien, and a sinkable Orca like POTC. Maybe Orca could be a ball lock - have Bruce bite the back of the Orca with 3 balls locked and have them spill out like Godzilla? It's wishful thinking because if there was a mech that good it wouldn't be on the pro...

Boat toy & shark toy are the obvious ones but I'd also have a row of the harpoon barrels (perhaps as bash toys).

Modes like clear the beach, hunt for the shark, escape and ultimately kill.

The depth of things doesn't concern me too much because there are far too many games I'm just not good enough to reach the end of even with 5 balls.

Licence is key though and they must have film footage otherwise it's more difficult to make it compelling. There's definitely scope to make it fun and dramatic though. I'm already looking forward to that iconic music making me nervous as I try to complete a mode.
 
Mode suggestions; half ****d autopsy on a fish mode, you're going to need a bigger boat multiball, Let's get drunk and fool around hurry up mode. Bow legged women something or other mode. I ****ing love Jaws

Due to Stern's budget it will probably be based on Jaws 3d, although Dennis Quaid might be too expensive to license
 
J-park, Godzilla and now Jaws. Stern killing it with the monster movie licences. Who is designing it do we know?

Even before considering fancy toys or animations there's massive scope for tension in this theme. So long as they've got the music.

Just image you've got to one of the wizard modes (like Horde in TWD) and then - The sound drops, the lights dim, followed by a steadily building jaws signature derm-dum....derm-dum.... with the shaker motor kicking in to the beat. Suddenly there's balls spitting out everywhere and all hell breaking out on the playfield.

And that will be the one good moment. I just don't see how there's enough in the film's to make for interesting modes.
I can't think of many decent characters in Jaws or much more that happens than a big fish being a mostly invisible menace.

Will it be based on the movie or unique like JP2?

I wish Stern would do something original and fun rather than limited licences 😒
Not that I can afford a nib anyway 😆

I know we all say this - and for the record, I entirely agree - but licensed machines sell. Stern tried something at least kind of original and unlicensed with BKSOR and I from what I understand sales were somewhat underwhelming, so unfortunately I think that ship has sailed.

Personally I’d love to see CGC do an original WMS type game - maybe even a sequel to one of the classics (MM2, AFM2, WHO2 etc) - with the same sort of light hearted atmosphere. I think they’d do well.

To get back on topic, Jaws isn’t exactly a dream theme for me but I think it has potential. Could have some fun toys, and if they can go with original art it could look great with the right artist on board. I’m Interested to see how it turns out.

And that is like music pins to me and how many of them have been made and loved.

How many pins out there with shallow rules are amazing, the simpler the better for me. Yes you get bored if you play them non stop so dont😂

Music, sound lighting and atmosphere are a big part of it and no doubt Jaws will have that if they get the original score, call-outs (some) and clips😎

Also if you were not about in the 70’s/80’s as a kid you will not get it.

If it’s great it will be hard for me not to have to sell something😫

I was born in 86 and saw Jaws probably a bit too young. Remember very clearly not wanting to go in the sea on family holidays to Devon, and being very worried when my mum took our dog paddling!
