“GTF” Galactic Tank Owners Parlour

AP service have advised to make sure drive is fresh format on windows and try download and install again to clear any glitches but I've always had a clean install and it hasn't cleared any of the known issues. But clearly it sorted out your mess.

I spent a huge amount of time playing this at Blackpool and it is fantastic. The tank was really great to hit and I'm assuming the software had an update as the flipper save popped up regularly.
Looks fantastic and is well lit. All the videos I had seen it had a terrible blue light show.
It really surprised me how much fun it was.
Maybe Steve could correct me but it didn't seem to miss a beat all day Saturday
 
Its the ex showroom model and probably wasn't updated since new.

We received the wrong legs so had to bodge the tracks plus by the time we set up on Friday by 9pm we had been on the go since 7am so didn't set up the track lights.
Hope to bring it to pinfest next year with the track lights all in order .
 
Been playing with the “power up” target above the LAB lanes tonight. Adjusted the leaf so it’s more sensitive and turned down “Neutron Bomb” to 1 in the settings . You have to remove the switch unit from below and adjust it in your hand

Seems to give you a bomb towards destroying the tank. Appears you can only hit it when no AIR is active nor the top magnet.

I don’t think i posted a photo of the “Atomic Shield” ball protector @Vimtoman has made.

The airballs the shield makes when you have multiball active and 1 is draining whilst you hit the tank with another and Wham! the shield sends the ball up and smacks the glass

Well this defo helps dissipate that rather loud smack

“For the getting stuck behind the apron, there is a quick fix for that. You will need to take the apron off, and with some plyers bend the bracket on the apron and the one in the playfield in just a little so the gap will narrow and prevent the ball from passing. Like so”

How’s the British Galactic Tank Force crew finding their games now ?

I’ve had a glitch with mine but think it’s something to do with the mini PC

last night and now tonight ( it got worse ) I thought it was me as had spent the evening in the pub. There was a flipper delay, mainly the right one.
Passed it off but did have me second thinking.

Beer induced again tonight but only lightly. Found an intermittent delay when the ball was on the flipper that it wouldn’t respond. This was at different stages of several different games , multiball and normal play
as the games increased it starter to affect both flippers and it increased in appearance

Figured it might be the PC or code. Turned off just the pc whilst the game was on and restarted it and played a couple games without issue.

Am ready to reinstall code even though i only did it a month ago

Hi mate,
Mine did something very similar when I first got it.....there was a massive delay in the flippers...I mean several seconds like it was buffering all of my inputs and then actioning then all at once. Also the video and sound would go out af sync and the video would stutter, like the processor couldn't handle what was being asked of it.
Reloaded the software twice and after a couple of games. the problem just went away and it's been solid as a rock since.
I did get a video of it and it was sent via Dave Retro to American Pinball but like I say, hasn't been a problem since. Thought I was the only one this had happened to as I had not seen or heard of any other reports.
I'm really enjoying the game, it's hugely underrated. Recently received my replacement grey legs and tank tracks.

Im looking into trying a different brand / better quality PC but not sure how to yet. Checked tonight and on 600 games since arrival in April. Anyone a computer tech how do we do this? it uses Aptio OS. Does this need configuring or can it just be installed and we then load up the firmware ?

Did you get your tank fix mod?

Yep got the tank mod. Not fitted it yet, I can't find any instructions as to how fit the plastic reenforcement part, the video on the website only show the metal bits but hopefully I can work it out. They haven't sent the ball lock mod yet so I appreciate you giving me yours...beer owed 🤜🤛
I take it the tank tracks are fitted with leg bolts and nuts?? If so I am missing the nuts. Also any idea what these two black plastic pieces are for?? Looks like they have holes for screws? But don't seem to have any screws or know where they would go If I did 😁

Yeah sadly the games greatness is bounded by the idiots that make it

Those are wire covers for the inside of the treads. The led power wires feed inside the groove and they cover the groove , mine came with screws - small wood ones

Not sure if i’ve asked but now your playing more do you have these issues

Great quality with great software... Maybe David fix can answer you concerns.... hahahahaha ,

I played Steve's edition at Nuneaton yesterday for half an hour or so.
It took a little getting used to the flippers, being so different than the feel of Stern's, but once I got a hang of that all was good.

It definitely had that one more game feel. Not once did I get the ball save from going through the lanes bear the flippers, and think they're a bit of a waste. The feed from the pops often goes straight down either out lane, especially with a tight tilt.

Despite that I enjoyed the few games I got in.

What did I do to get the score ending in a 1? Assume it's something like TNA destroying a reactor, rather than TWD for rolling the machine.

Hey Wayne. I find its more forgiving on the flippers than most. But brutal on the outlanes. Has a soft feel and them BAM hitting a target or the tank and the balls gone. They even had to make a fix to stop the ball getting lost under the apron due to the exit force.

Don't know about the 1, I got some too

These are my settings atm - I found the ball save times mixed with he meltdown difficulty and mutliball combination a bit tedious at times and lost track of what I was actually doing. This refines each mode better and removes a lot of repetition

Flipper power set to 34 unless you have the precision bushes and you can turn it down from stock 2 notches. I can make the ramp with the left flipper

@Legewein - Regarding the flipper save , it is a bit of a mess with the OEM posts they fitted. Maybe give the ones I have on mine a go. I have some in Clear here if your interested - Or Andrew can make them in any colour. It does bring the save function into play and i get alot of use from it

I've stepped over to the darkside, and asked the question on Pinside :D
It aint the dark side. Its where you need to be for an answer mostly due to the number of owners and the length of time they have had the games and issues before we get them

Im talking with the coder. The No. 1 score is for the rare LAB award "microscopic points"

It will be one of the Secret skill shots . Woooooo!!!!!

Been running the BETA code since last Thursday. Feedback sent in and hope to get an update next week or so

So far it’s a massive improvement 👍👍👍
Oh cool....I missed this release, I guess it's stable enough to update now or, based on what you are seeing would you recommend I wait for the full release?
 
Hey, there is no release atm - i haven’t had chance to play it much this past week due to selling and buying pins, picking them up and delivering for others
Just been fortunate enough to get in touch with the programmer and been working with him to iron out the issues and improve some others
He might have a stable BETA for owners very soon

Got some more testing to do this weekend
 
Nice work @SeikoKid I thought you were just using the beta version from the AP website...didn't realise you had your own test version and were working so so closely with the programmer....that's pretty cool 😎
Keep me in the loop, looking forward to giving it a go when it becomes public👍
