Why remote battery holders are a good idea

I had a theory that low power Zinc Carbon batteries would be more suited to holding vram charge for 12 months, without risk of leakage.

Just found this on a machine after 6 months...

Yeah you're probably right not worth the risk, although never heard any bad reports about any dodgy lithiums even if they did fall off the back of a lorry...

Just about to try these...

24pk from Amazon. Packaging seems solid and they're noticably lighter, so pretty sure they're genuine and not Alkalines in disguise! (we'll see......)

I'll be submitting an RFQ to the factory tonight, so I'll be able to give you the latest pricing very soon. I'd like to offer them a little cheaper than before if possible as I really would like to encourage everyone to use these instead of batteries. I do practice what I preach, and I have installed NVRAM's in around 30 of my machines so far.

Yes can do bulk prices

I can do the following system :-

Sega - Plug and play

Stern (Whitestar) Plug and play

Data East - requires you to solder 1 jumper wire

Williams/Bally WPC89/WPC-S/WPC95 - Requires the old RAM desoldering and a socket fitting in most cases
Go on then, what are your bulk prices?

So, after reading all of the above I decided to splash out on some Lithiums.
I had duracells in my 3 Pins making 9 batteries in total.
On changing them Three of the 9 had started to leak! I also know for a fact that 3 batteries were only changed last Xmas.

Update..

3 years on, no signs of leakage or swelling and never had a problem with lost settings.

Moving the board to another pin so will continue to use these.
